“Two days!
I’ve been walking for two whole days!” Koda shouted weakly.
Why do things like this always happen to me?!
Following the map exactly for two days, and yet he had not even seen a single hair of a living creature.
The roads were all twists and turns; it was truly infuriating.
“Is this map real?
He couldn’t be lying to me, could he?” Koda had his doubts, but there was nothing he could do now.
He could only keep going.
Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey.
The flying yellow sand blew into his mouth once again.
He used his meager saliva to moisten his lips before reluctantly spitting it out, his lips covered in yellow sand.
He had just emerged from the canyon yesterday, and now he had entered the Gobi Desert.
Fate was truly playing tricks on him; his current situation did not allow him to waste a single drop of water.
If it were not for the cacti in the desert and his ability to absorb moisture from plants, he would not have lasted this long.
The water flask at his waist was not empty yet because he needed to save some for emergencies.
If he did not make it out of this desert in two days, he would have no choice but to drink the remaining half-flask.
Another three days passed in a daze.
On a brighter note, the variety of plants along the road was gradually increasing, and their numbers were rising as well.
This was an exciting sign.
He had run out of food long ago.
For the past few days, he had been drinking cactus juice, and now even the sight of a cactus made him want to gag.
Finally, that afternoon, he saw a vast prairie.
The endless grassland stretched as far as the eye could see.
Turtle Swallows nested in the scattered trees, and other types of birds lived there too.
Plants and animals together formed a perfect picture.
Koda only wanted to step quickly into this paradise.
He had not felt this kind of atmosphere in a long time—harmonious, peaceful, as if the will of nature itself was guiding him.
The moment he stepped onto the grass, a mysterious heat rose from his belly, and a warm sensation flooded his entire body.
This heat appeared and vanished in an instant, reminding him of the Life Energy he had not used in a long time.
When that warm feeling disappeared, a mysterious sense of guidance echoed in his mind.
Something in the center of the prairie was attracting him; a sense of kinship kept welling up, urging him to go there.
Koda never thought of resisting this feeling.
Instead, he wanted to get closer to the place that attracted him.
Something was enticing him.
Following the guidance of the mysterious sensation, he continued forward.
The Life Energy that had not broken through for a long time also began to grow stronger as he advanced.
Since leaving the Great Swamp, his Life Energy had not changed at all.
At nine years old, his Life Energy was at fifteen units.
Now he was ten.
If it grew at a rate of two units per year, it would take him fifty years to cultivate from zero units to the limit.
He could not stand staying in the swamp for that long.
Now, just by approaching the source of the sensation, there were already signs of breaking through the seventeen-unit mark.
This was much faster than his own cultivation; how could he not be drawn to it?
Faced with such a great temptation, Koda did not refuse the request for guidance.
As Koda went deeper, the Gobi Desert behind him was no longer in sight.
Bright flowers and free birds instinctively drew closer to him.
During this journey, the Life Energy within his dantian surged out of his body uncontrollably, enveloping him.
Ordinary people could not see this energy, but to Koda, it looked like he was wrapped in a colorful film.
Miraculously, this film did not obstruct his vision at all.
Instead, it made him feel very warm.
When the Life Energy first surged out of his dantian, he tried to pull it back, but he could not do it at all.
Eventually, it ended up like this.
After walking with the guidance for a while longer, as evening approached, a bamboo forest appeared ahead.
Koda thought he was hallucinating and even rubbed his eyes.
He found that the bamboo forest was still there.
“What’s going on?
A bamboo forest in the middle of a grassland?!” he could not help but exclaim.
In his mind, bamboo forests and grasslands did not seem to have any connection.
A small bamboo forest growing in the middle of a grassland felt completely out of place.
This bamboo forest was clearly where he was meant to go, because at this moment, the energy attached to the outside of his body was almost flying toward it.
Koda did not dawdle and walked straight into the bamboo forest.
Gently pushing aside the dark green bamboo stalks, a dark shadow with a massive body suddenly pounced on him.
Without any time to react, Koda was pinned to the ground, not even daring to open his eyes.
He felt as if he had been hit by a small car; his internal organs felt displaced.
Suddenly, a wet sensation came over his face.
“Is this a tongue?
It’s licking me before eating me?” With this doubt, he slowly opened his eyes.
He expected to see a huge, terrifying monster, but he was even more shocked when he saw what it looked like.
“A panda?
There are pandas in this world?” His eyes widened as he could only watch the giant panda lick him all over.
He was completely defenseless; the panda’s two front paws firmly pinned his hands down, leaving only his feet free to move.
The giant panda’s terrifying weight made his arms ache, feeling as if they were about to break.
The wet sensation on his face was truly unpleasant.
He kicked the panda’s belly hard with both legs, but it was useless.
His kicks were like tickles to the creature; it did not care at all.
“My attacks are completely useless.
Am I really going to be toyed with like this…” Koda thought somewhat despairingly.
Seeing that Koda was no longer resisting, the panda lost interest, and its originally rough movements slowed down significantly.
“Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.” With every lick, the panda’s tongue would pull the muscles of his face upward and then snap them back, resulting in those sounds.
After an unknown amount of time, its movements finally stopped.
As if unsatisfied, it stopped licking Koda’s face and looked down.
“Nooooo!” A cry of pain echoed on the grass by the bamboo forest. The source of this chapter is g.com.
The bamboo basket on his back had long since rolled away to who knows where, leaving only a young boy wailing in the grass.
The giant panda tore Koda’s clothes to shreds in one bite, its eyes full of intelligence, and then pounced again.
Slurp…
slurp…
Its tongue kept licking back and forth at his dantian, with no intention of stopping; instead, it was even more aggressive than before.
The once-abundant Life Energy was now gradually decreasing with every lick from the giant panda.
Koda was almost sucked dry.
His voice of resistance grew weaker until he finally fainted.
“Ah, where is this?” Koda woke up from his faint, shaking his dizzy head, not quite back to his senses yet.
“Right, the panda!
The giant panda!” He suddenly remembered what had happened before he fainted and trembled all over.
This event might become a lifelong psychological trauma for him.
Coming to his senses, he observed his surroundings and found himself in the bamboo forest.
The moon in the sky illuminated every corner of the forest, allowing him to immediately spot the giant panda’s figure.
The giant panda also spotted him immediately and ran toward him at high speed.
“Holy crap!!
Again?!” He tried to bolt, but he had been sucked dry earlier and had no strength left.
Watching the giant panda approach him with no way to escape, he was so anxious he almost cried.
He did not want to experience the feeling of being sucked dry again.
“Ayi…
ayi…
ayi,” the giant panda stopped in front of him, making continuous sounds.
It even used its padded paw to hand over a bunch of bamboo hearts, having no intention of “forcing” itself on Koda again.
“So, the reason it was over there just now was to peel bamboo hearts for me?” He did not know why he could understand the giant panda’s language.
The giant panda nodded, looking very cute and adorable.
If that incident had not happened just now, he would have thought so too.
