“Phoebe, don’t look.
Stop looking!
This is all just garbage news!” Kitty said angrily, snatching the tablet from Phoebe Faulkner’s hand.
She hurled it away.
The tablet hit the wall and then the floor, making a loud CRASH.
“Phoebe…” After throwing the tablet, Kitty looked at Phoebe with concern.
Phoebe’s head was bowed, her thoughts a mystery.
The stray hairs of her bangs hid her eyes, so Kitty couldn’t see her expression at all.
This uncertainty only made Kitty worry more.
“Phoebe, don’t be like this.
No matter what happens, you still have me.” Kitty sat down in front of Phoebe and wrapped her in a hug.
Phoebe clenched her fists, closed her eyes, and leaned on Kitty’s shoulder.
‘It didn’t matter what anyone else did.’
‘But why…
why did it have to be her second uncle?’
‘Why was it the uncle who had treated her like his own daughter since she was a child?’
When she was being framed and slandered, not only did her second uncle fail to stand by her, but he also kicked her while she was down.
He’d said those things to the reporters and even kicked her out of the family.
“Phoebe…” Kitty patted Phoebe’s shoulder, at a complete loss for how to comfort her.
Meanwhile, the reporters gathered outside the villa seemed to have already heard the two latest breaking news stories.
They were now clamoring loudly at the gate.
If it weren’t for the Faulkner Family’s excellent security, the reporters would have likely stormed in by now.
Just then, Phoebe’s phone rang.
Kitty didn’t know who was calling at a time like this.
Not wanting anyone to disturb Phoebe, she immediately rejected the call and even removed the SIM card from the phone.
She was afraid that reporters had managed to get Phoebe’s number and were calling to harass her.
The reporters were keeping a constant vigil outside.
There was no way for Phoebe and Kitty to leave.
However, as Kitty was inside comforting Phoebe, the reporters’ clamor suddenly grew louder.
The press, who had been held back at the main gate, had somehow been let in.
The security guards who were supposed to be watching the villa were all gone.
Not just the security, but even the house staff seemed to have vanished.
There wasn’t a single person left to hold back the swarm of reporters.
‘Damn it!’
‘Without a doubt, the villa’s security and servants had all been dismissed.’
‘This was a deliberate attempt to push Phoebe into a corner!’
Seeing the reporters at the front trying to break into the house, Kitty shot to her feet, slammed the bedroom door shut, and bolted it.
At this, Phoebe finally lifted her head.
“Kitty, I’m sorry for dragging you into this.”
“What are you talking about?” Kitty said indignantly.
“Those people out there are insane!
I have to call the police right now, or they’ll definitely break in.”
With Kenneth Faulkner’s press conference and the news of Howard Lynch’s proposal, everyone now knew Phoebe had been cast out by the Faulkner Family.
Now even these lowlife reporters from the gossip rags thought they could come and kick her while she was down.
Kitty called the police, but it would take time for them to arrive.
The reporters had already stormed inside the house.
Many of the reporters here had been bribed beforehand.
Even more of them had no professional ethics to speak of.
They only knew how to suck up to the powerful and trample the weak, eager to push someone to their absolute limit.
Naturally, they didn’t care if their target lived or died.
As the reporters surged forward, some of the more frenzied ones even started pounding on the door.
They hammered on the wood and yelled, “Miss Faulkner, we know you’re in there!
Please come out and say something!
What are your thoughts on being kicked out of the Faulkner Family?”
