The one who fired the gun was Wang Feng, standing beside the vehicle.

“Damn it, won’t open the door, huh?!”

With a gunshot, the car window shattered into pieces.

Shards of glass pierced Xiao Huai Dong’s face and body.

A revolver, no longer blocked by glass, was thrust through the window and pressed against his head.

“Open the door right now. If you don’t, I’ll blow your brains out.”

Xiao Huai Dong raised both hands and looked at him. “Who are you? You’re not the steel factory driver?”

When Wang Feng saw his face, he was startled. The next second, killing intent flashed in his eyes—he pulled the trigger, planning to kill Xiao Huai Dong and take the car himself.

“Wang Feng, don’t remain stubborn! As long as you put down your weapon and surrender, we’ll ask the police to treat you leniently.”

Wang Feng suddenly turned his head and fired another shot toward Director Liu behind him.

The moment the gunshot rang out, Xiao Huai Dong moved.

He slammed his shoulder hard against the car door. As it flew open, it struck Wang Feng and knocked him backward.

Xiao Huai Dong seized the chance, rolling out of the car and lunging at him.

Seeing the danger, Wang Feng immediately aimed his gun at Xiao Huai Dong.

With swift movement, Xiao Huai Dong kicked the gun out of his hand. As Wang Feng rushed to pick it up, Xiao Huai Dong gave him no chance—he kicked hard at his lower leg.

Wang Feng slid back four or five meters.

Two officers who had rushed over pinned him to the ground and quickly handcuffed him.

Behind the car, the bearded man and the man with glasses saw Wang Feng being captured.

Each of them pulled out a grenade from their clothes.

“Everyone step back! Let us go, or we’ll detonate the explosives and die together!”

Director Liu, clutching his shoulder, kicked Wang Feng. “Xiao Wang, hurry and persuade your companions. Living miserably is better than dying. Tell them not to act rashly.”

Wang Feng spat on the ground and grinned. “If we’re going to die anyway, we might as well all die together. If you don’t want to die, let them go.”

“You’re truly beyond saving!”

Director Liu pointed at him angrily. “What benefits did they give you to turn you into their lackey?”

Wang Feng laughed smugly. “Benefits? Plenty! More than you could earn in a lifetime!”

Taking advantage of their distraction, Xiao Huai Dong crouched and moved to the back of the car.

One officer noticed and signaled to his partner, quietly following him. The other officers blocked Wang Feng’s view, gripping their guns tightly.

At that moment, Director Liu spoke shockingly:

“Wang Feng, do you really think the information you stole is real? Let me tell you—the data you got was something I deliberately let you take. It’s been altered. Even if you escape successfully, do you think they’ll spare you for bringing back fake data?”

“No… impossible!”

For the first time, Wang Feng panicked.

The bearded man and the man with glasses turned pale.

“I noticed something was wrong with you long ago, so I secretly prepared fake data. Why do you think I did that? To draw out the people behind you and catch all of you in one net.”

Director Liu had been shot in the shoulder. If it weren’t for the need to capture the remaining two agents, he would have already collapsed.

The pain made his face even paler, but he did not retreat.

“Think about your families—your children, your wives, your parents, the people who care about you. If you die, it ends for you—but what about them? They’ll be blamed by neighbors, looked down upon, maybe even lose their jobs. Turn back. Don’t keep making mistakes. As long as you surrender, the police will treat you leniently.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the bearded man and the man with glasses burst into tears.

“We didn’t want this… we were forced. There’s no way back for us now.”

As they spoke, they stood up, still holding the grenades.

“Don’t push us. If you do, we’ll detonate them. We’ll all die together.”

The bearded man glared fiercely at the officers.

“Let us go now. None of you follow.”

The two men backed away slowly, watching the officers closely.

Seeing that the police didn’t dare move, they began to feel hopeful.

Just as they thought they could bluff their way out with the explosives—

Xiao Huai Dong and another officer suddenly leaped out from behind the car.

Each tackled one of them to the ground.

At the moment they fell, Xiao Huai Dong swiftly snatched the grenade from the bearded man’s hand.

The other officer subdued the man with glasses as well.

Just as everyone began to relax—

Xiao Nanchu, still inside the car, suddenly shouted, “Run! There’s a bomb!”

In those few seconds of hesitation—

They saw Wang Feng pull a mini explosive from his suit pocket with his mouth, biting down on the fuse, his face twisted in madness.

All the officers quickly retreated in fear.

Director Liu and Fang Zhiguo stumbled back in panic, terror written across their faces.

“Little Bean Sprout, get down!”

Xiao Huai Dong yanked open the car door and pulled Xiao Nanchu into his arms.

Even though they were five or six meters away from Wang Feng, he didn’t dare gamble on the blast.

Letting go of the bearded man, he ran while holding Xiao Nanchu.

The bearded man, terrified, followed behind them.

The officer holding the man with glasses considered letting go, but at the last moment, he tightened his grip and dragged him along while retreating.

“Die! All of you die! Hahaha…”

Wang Feng laughed maniacally, his voice chilling.

*Boom!*

His laughter stopped abruptly.

Fang Zhiguo cried out, “Director! Director, are you alright?!”

Protected in her father’s arms, Xiao Nanchu only felt the ground tremble slightly.

Hearing Fang Zhiguo’s cries, father and daughter both looked up toward the distance.

At that moment, the bearded man, seeing no one paying attention, bolted toward the train station exit.

“Dad, he’s running!”

Xiao Nanchu pointed anxiously.

If her soul weren’t incomplete, she wouldn’t fear a mere bomb.

But now, as a child with short legs, she could only rely on her father to chase him.

Xiao Huai Dong had been about to check on Director Liu, but hearing his daughter, he immediately set her down and ran after the man.

They had worked so hard to catch them—letting one escape would make everything meaningless.

Besides, he had just seen that Director Liu’s leg seemed to have been hit by the explosion—blood and flesh mangled, a truly brutal sight.

These agents, before their country had grown strong, clung to powerful foreign nations.

Born and raised here, living off this land—yet betraying it, becoming lackeys for other countries.

How could such people face the revolutionary martyrs who had shed their blood on the battlefield?
