Bran’s plan had always been to surround the Governor with a cloud of suspicion.
A sum of gold that large was enough to make almost anyone greedy and selfish. And with the city receiving fewer and fewer visitors these days, there was more than enough reason to believe the Governor might have been tempted to attempt the heist himself.
Now, "I am sure word of this will reach the Count, and that sick bastard will be forced to answer." The mere thought of what lay ahead brought a satisfied grin to Bran’s face.
Everything was going to according to the plan thus far. However, Bran knew better than expecting everything to fall into place was a fool’s dream.
That’s why, he has already prepared a few backup plans, just in case.
Just then, someone knocked on his door.
Bran hummed. "Who is it?"
"It’s me."
The voice was stern, yet familiar.
Bran did not bother getting up before calling out, "Come in."
Still, as a precaution, he activated his Demon Hunting job.
He had learned better than to trust women in this world.
The door swung open, revealing the familiar short-haired woman, a pronounced scowl etched across her face.
"What have you done?" she demanded, closing the door behind her. "How did you steal that much gold? Who helped you? And why did you go as far as framing Venessa for it?"
Bran chuckled.
"You are really delusional if you think I would give you an answer."
Laura’s expression hardened.
"So this is your true self, huh?" she said bitterly. "I thought you had finally changed for the better, but here you are, chasing after some petty revenge simply because a woman dumped you."
Bran was no longer smiling.
He slowly rose from the bed.
The room was small enough that, even while he remained seated, Laura had felt as though he were pinning her against the wall.
But when he stood up, the difference in their presence became impossible to ignore.
His eyes were dead serious as he muttered, "Why didn’t you open your mouth when that bitch fucked herself on the Governor’s cock? Why didn’t you raise your voice when they laughed in my face, acting as though I didn’t even exist and making me feel like shit?"
Laura was taken aback, not merely by the brazenness of his words, but by the dangerous edge that had entered his presence.
He looked down at her, his expression cold and unreadable.
"You are only safe because you merely snickered at my situation. You didn’t do anything to make things worse. But that’s just you, not your husband."
Laura finally gathered enough courage to speak. When she did, her demonic presence seemed to coil around every word.
"You can’t touch George. You promised to limit your revenge to those two!"
She grabbed his shirt as she protested, her eyes red and her temperament demanding nothing less than surrender.
Bran was not fazed.
He simply looked down at her before reaching out and gently taking hold of her hands.
"He won’t die," he whispered. "But he won’t be spared."
"..!!"
Laura’s eyes widened as the meaning behind his words finally sank in. However, before she could say anything, a familiar voice came from outside.
"Bran?"
It was George.
Laura instantly covered her mouth, her eyes widening as she frantically shook her head at Bran.
Bran grinned and leaned closer.
Laura’s eyes widened further as his chest pressed against her, completely trapping her between the wall and himself.
She wanted to push him away, but she could not risk having George discover that she had come to meet Bran at such a late hour.
"Come out. We need to talk," George called from outside, his voice leaving no room for argument.
Bran snickered. "I am resting. Talk to me tomorrow."
Laura could only hope he would listen to Bran and leave. Because right now, she was in a very precarious situation.
Ah!
Her breath caught in her throat when Bran suddenly brushed a finger lightly against her chest, deliberately tracing the sensitive buds and leaving her body rigid with shock.
She looked up at him with a glare and whispered. ’Stop touching me, now!’
Bran grinned and suddenly,
"Eiik!" Laura pressed her hands against her mouth instantly when he pinched her nipple, causing her to cry in shock and pain.
"It’s important. I won’t ask you twice," George repeated. "Unless you want two enemies under the same roof, come out to the front yard. I will be waiting."
With that, George turned and walked away.
"You...!"
Laura immediately pushed Bran back, but he caught her hand. The sudden struggle threw them both onto the bed, leaving Laura sprawled on top of him.
She immediately pushed herself upright and glared down at him.
"Are you out of your mind?! Just because you know my secret doesn’t mean I am going to let you do whatever you please with my body."
Bran merely snickered.
"Then don’t you dare come into my room again. A demon like yourself might awaken the hunter in me, and he might decide he wants either your screams or your moans. So be very careful."
Laura glared at him but didn’t say anything. Soon, she rose from the bed and left the room
Bran remained lying there for more time before he decided to hear what his dear brother had to say.
