“That’s right.” Feng Luan spoke slowly. “Talisman and pills are not to be sold to anyone from the Feng Family, including anyone connected to him.”
The grand elder and second elder exchanged a glance, looking at each other in dismay.
Elder Qi knew this was the other party’s family matter. Feng Luan was now an honorary elder of the Spirit Pavilion. He had always cherished talent and protected his own, and he felt an instant kinship with her.
The mere Feng Family was not worthy of being taken seriously by their Spirit Pavilion.
“Naturally, there’s no problem.” After speaking, Elder Qi looked at the grand elder. Understanding, the latter pulled a bronze token from his sleeve. The words “spirit pavilion” were engraved on it. “This is the token of a spirit pavilion elder. Girl, keep it. You can go to the Talisman Hall to collect your stipend in the future.”
Feng Luan did not act coy and accepted the token openly. “Then I thank Elder Qi and the two elders.”
Elder Qi stroked his beard. “There’s no need to thank me. This is merely a matter of mutual benefit. Hahaha.”
Feng Luan chuckled softly as well. “All right.”
“Since that is settled, this junior will take her leave first.”
Now that they had discussed nearly everything, Feng Luan naturally intended to return. Elder Qi had originally wanted her to stay for a meal, but after she repeatedly declined, he could only have Li Er escort her out.
“Miss Feng, this way, please.”
After leaving the medicinal materials shop, Feng Luan planned to return home.
Unexpectedly, she saw the portly Jin Chuan being stopped by a man and a woman at the entrance of the Drunken Immortal Pavilion, with a crowd gathered all around them.
Ye Chi: “Little Luan...”
Inside the Sea of Consciousness, Ye Chi’s voice sounded somewhat anxious. “Little Luan, save him. He will definitely be of help to you in the future.”
Feng Luan looked thoughtfully at Jin Chuan, whose face was filled with humiliation amid the crowd, and asked, “You know him?”
Ye Chi fell silent. After a moment, he said, “He resembles an old acquaintance of mine in some ways, and his meridians are different from those of ordinary people. If you go somewhere else in the future, take him with you. He will be of help.”
Somewhere else.
Feng Luan naturally would not confine herself to the Void Spirit Continent. What she wanted was to stand at the pinnacle of this world.
“All right.” Feng Luan agreed. “You can tell me about his meridian problem later.”
Amid the crowd, Jin Chuan was blocked by two men and women. The woman had delicate features, and disdain showed in her almond-shaped eyes. The man accompanying her was handsome and refined; upon closer inspection, one could see that he bore some resemblance to Jin Chuan.
Xu Jiaojiao wore a goose-yellow dress that set off her fair complexion. Though her face was youthful, her tone was particularly sarcastic. “Oh, I was wondering who it was. So it’s our jin family young master.”
Jin Xuan shook his fan, his tone contemptuous. “Jiaojiao, isn’t this your fiancé?”
Upon hearing this, disgust filled Xu Jiaojiao’s almond-shaped eyes. “Fiancé? This good-for-nothing? How is he worthy!”
The two attendants behind Jin Chuan were already furious. One of them could not help saying, “Miss Xu, please do not humiliate our young master like this.”
Xu Jiaojiao sneered, her eyes sweeping over the massive Jin Chuan. “I’m humiliating him? Isn’t his being a good-for-nothing known throughout the black tortoise kingdom?”
Jin Xuan clicked his tongue twice and sauntered forward. The fan in his hand seemed to strike lightly, but actually landed with considerable force against Jin Chuan’s body. He taunted, “It’s not that I want to say this as your older brother, but if you have no ability, don’t drag Jiaojiao down. Break off the engagement.”
Jin Chuan’s eyes, compressed by layers of flesh into narrow slits, stared fixedly at Jin Xuan.
The attendant still wanted to speak, but Jin Chuan said, “Yuanbao, let’s go.”
Jin Chuan had just tried to leave when Jin Xuan unexpectedly blocked his path.
“Leaving already? Why not stay and have a drink with your older brother?” Jin Xuan raised his brows. Looking at Jin Chuan’s humiliated face, he felt an immense sense of satisfaction.
Why was such a good-for-nothing the legitimate son and so deeply favored by their father? Clearly, Jin Xuan surpassed Jin Chuan in both appearance and cultivation. Why would their father not spare him a second glance?
Only if Jin Chuan died would he have a chance to rise.
Jin Chuan did not want to entangle himself with these two, but unfortunately, they had no intention of letting him go.
“Invite the young master to the private room on the second floor of the drunken immortal pavilion.” Jin Xuan waved his fan, emphasizing the word “invite.”
The servants behind him surrounded the three of them. Yuanbao shouted angrily, “eldest young master, are you not afraid that today’s events will reach master’s ears?”
Jin Xuan glanced at him. “What events? I’m merely inviting my dear younger brother to have a cup of tea.”
Xu Jiaojiao also wore a mocking smile.
Yuanbao: “You!!!”
“What are you standing around for? Hurry up and invite the young master upstairs.”
Jin Xuan’s servants advanced toward the three step by step. One of them revealed a disdainful expression. “Young master, it would be best not to struggle. Cooperate with us, and you can avoid suffering.”
Jin Chuan snorted coldly. “I’d like to see how you intend to make me suffer.”
“You’re still putting on a brave front at a time like this. Then the young master will have to bear with it.” As soon as his voice fell, the group charged straight at them.
Although Jin Chuan was portly, he was still a second-tier spirit practitioner. Jinbao and Yuanbao were the same.
However, the advantage in numbers gradually left them struggling.
Jin Chuan had an abundance of flesh on his body. Just moving slightly left him panting heavily, and his movements were slow. After being struck several times, Jinbao and Yuanbao hurried toward him. “Young master! Young master!”
The two knocked down the servants, but were immediately held tightly by others. They struggled desperately but could not break free, and could only watch helplessly as Jin Chuan was held in place and punched repeatedly in the face until his nose was swollen, his face bruised, and blood flowed without end.
Jinbao’s face twisted ferociously as tears and mucus ran down it. Unable to break free, he lowered his head and bit the hand of the person restraining him.
The man released him in pain. Jinbao dashed forward, but before he could get close, he was kicked and sent sprawling across the ground.
“Let go of our young master!”
“Master will never let you off!”
Seeing Jinbao kicked away, Yuanbao struggled with all his might and shouted.
The group exchanged glances, seemingly frightened by Yuanbao’s words.
The jin family patriarch had always protected his own, and he especially doted on the chubby Jin Chuan.
If the jin family head found out how they were treating Jin Chuan now...
Jin Xuan snorted coldly. “I am also a young master of the jin family. As his older brother, I am merely inviting my younger brother to have a cup of tea.”
“If my younger brother refuses, then I will teach him how to show respect to his elders.”
Those words immediately restored the servants’ resolve. Their earlier fear vanished, and the hesitation on their faces turned even more ruthless.
Jinbao spat out a mouthful of blood and said through clenched teeth, “Shameless.”
Jin Chuan was in a miserable state. He raised his head and looked coldly at Jin Xuan, saying weakly, “Let Jinbao and Yuanbao go. I am the only one you despise. What crime have they committed?”
Jinbao, Yuanbao: “young master!”
Jin Xuan sneered. “What deep master-servant affection. But why should I listen to you?”
Xu Jiaojiao covered her mouth as she laughed. “Forget it, Brother Xuan. Let him off today.”
With that, she turned to Jin Chuan. “Jin Chuan, I told you long ago that you should take a detour whenever you see me. I don’t want to see your disgusting, nauseating mass of fat.”
