Early the next morning, as soon as Su Nian’an got up, she went straight to the kitchen.

She had no idea what was going on with this body. Maybe she was still growing, because she was absolutely starving at this hour.

In fact, sometime after midnight, Su Nian’an had already been so hungry that she couldn’t sleep.Full novel: Beautiful Feminine and Blessed with Fertility the Abstinent Military Officer Falls for Her on Their Wedding Night — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But when she thought about her current situation, she still endured the hunger and eventually drifted off to sleep.

The original owner’s appearance was quite different from Su Nian’an’s original looks, though there were still about three points of resemblance.

Su Nian’an herself wasn’t exactly plain-looking, but she wasn’t nearly as beautiful as the original owner either.

Now, this face was practically an upgraded version of Su Nian’an’s original face. All the flaws in her original features seemed to have been perfectly corrected and harmonized.

Even though the original owner had spent years doing farm work and housework, her skin was still unbelievably smooth and tender. Su Nian’an had looked in the mirror yesterday and hadn’t been able to find even a single visible pore.

See? Some people were simply born beautiful. No amount of skincare products could compare with natural beauty.

When Su Nian’an had seen Su Nianxi earlier, she had thought the other girl was very pretty. But after seeing her own current face, she felt that once she dressed herself up, she would look countless times better than Su Nianxi.

The only problem was that years of malnutrition had left Su Nian’an’s face looking rather pale. That could be fixed later by nourishing her body and eating properly.

Overall, Su Nian’an was quite satisfied with her current appearance.

The only thing she disliked was her pair of rough, scar-covered hands.

As expected of someone who had done farm work this eighteen-year-old girl already had calluses covering both hands.

Su Nian’an sighed softly. After arriving in the kitchen, she simply started a fire and began making breakfast on her own.

She had originally been a rural child herself and had grown up poor. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have immediately wanted to lie back and enjoy an easy life after getting a second chance at life.

So even though she had traveled through time to the 1970s, an era without induction cookers or gas stoves, making a meal was still a piece of cake for Su Nian’an.

The Su couple had gone out early that morning. Su Nian’an guessed they had probably gone to get the money for her.

While they weren’t home, she had to eat more.

Otherwise, if the two of them came back later and tried to take some of her food, Su Nian’an would really have a hard time refusing them.

After all, since she had taken their money, it wouldn’t look very good to be stingy over a single meal, would it? Su Nian’an considered herself a fairly generous person.

The food Su Nian’an was best at making was desserts and pastries.

But she was also quite good at cooking savory dishes. She once had a friend who owned a restaurant and even offered to hire her at a high salary as a five-star head chef. Su Nian’an had turned him down.

Working for someone else was impossible. Not in this life, not ever.

Su Nian’an loved freedom and didn’t like being bound by rules and restrictions, so she was better suited to running her own business.

There weren’t many vegetables left in the kitchen. In this era, even a household like the Su family wouldn’t keep an excess of vegetables stored in the kitchen.

Su Nian’an had no choice but to take out some flour and decided to make a few steamed buns.

There weren’t many ingredients available, and the original owner herself had no money. Going out to buy vegetables was even more impossible.

So, with the limited ingredients she had, Su Nian’an could only make some steamed buns to fill her stomach.

Fortunately, making things like this was one of her specialties. Without much effort, she soon steamed an entire basket of plump, soft mantou.

Su Nian’an picked up one of the big, fluffy mantou she had just steamed and took a huge bite.

Mmm.

Not bad, not bad. It was delicious!

Su Nian’an had added sugar to the flour, so the mantou had a faint sweetness to it.

She couldn’t quite describe it. Besides, perhaps because she was simply too hungry, she felt that this was the best basket of mantou she had ever made.

Su Nian’an had never known that she could actually wolf down food like this.

She was simply too hungry. The original owner, this poor little thing, probably hadn’t even had a proper full meal in her entire life, had she?

So her intense craving for food at this moment could be said to be an instinctive physical reaction.

After eating two large mantou in one go, Su Nian’an felt a little choked. She quickly grabbed a bowl and ladled herself some of the boiled water that had just been prepared in the pot.

People in this era generally still drank water straight from the source, but Su Nian’an was accustomed to boiling her drinking water before consuming it.

Once she went down to the countryside, she probably wouldn’t be able to be so particular about things.

Fortunately, most of the water in the countryside came from natural springs. It was naturally sourced and unpolluted, so drinking it directly shouldn’t be a problem.

But the water in the city…

It was better to boil it first.

After finishing a bowl of water, Su Nian’an couldn’t help letting out a loud burp.

Honestly, her stomach was so useless.

Her mouth still wanted to eat more, but her stomach couldn’t take another bite.

Forget it. She would put the remaining three mantou away and eat them when she got hungry later.

The Su couple didn’t have much affection for the original owner. There was a chance they might actually decide not to make lunch for her.

Su Nian’an wrapped the remaining mantou in some old newspaper.

Just as she finished, she heard footsteps approaching.

A moment later, Su Nianxi appeared in the kitchen.

She sniffed hard toward the kitchen, then turned her gaze toward Su Nian’an.

“What did you make? Why does it smell so good? Did you sneak some meat from the house?”

From the accusatory tone in her voice, anyone who didn’t know better would have thought Su Nian’an was a thief.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. I think there’s something wrong with your nose. You should go to the hospital and get it checked. In a place like this, how exactly did you manage to smell meat?”

Su Nian’an looked at her with undisguised disdain.

At those words, Su Nianxi’s face immediately flushed red.

Because Su Nian’an was right. There wasn’t even the slightest smell of meat in the kitchen.

But the fragrance in the air was simply too enticing, and Su Nianxi couldn’t figure out what it was.

“Then what did you make? Why does it smell so good? Did you steal food from the house? Hand it over!”

The way she acted like the owner of the house catching a thief made Su Nian’an laugh out loud.

“You… what are you laughing at! Su Nian’an, I’m warning you, don’t get too pleased with yourself. Don’t think that just because you’re marrying into the Gu family, you’ve done something extraordinary for the Su family. To put it bluntly, when you were sent to the countryside before, your life there wasn’t even as good as the life of a dog in our family.”

Those words completely enraged Su Nian’an.

The original owner, that poor girl, had spent her entire life suffering. Yet this disgusting thing who had stolen someone else’s place was actually standing in front of her, throwing her weight around and saying such things.

Enough was enough!

Su Nian’an charged straight toward Su Nianxi. Before the other girl could even react, she raised her hand and viciously slapped her across the face.

“Smack!”

Su Nianxi jerked her head up and stared at Su Nian’an in disbelief.

But before she could recover, Su Nian’an delivered another hard slap to her other cheek.

“Ahhhhhhh! Su Nian’an! I’ll fight you!”

As soon as Su Nianxi said this, she tried to rush forward.

But Su Nian’an was quick on her feet. She grabbed Su Nianxi by her braid and then violently flung her to the side.

And it had to be said, although the original owner’s body was somewhat malnourished from years of not getting enough food or eating properly, she had spent so many years doing physical labor that she was surprisingly strong.

Lifting Su Nianxi up was practically like picking up a little chick.

Su Nian’an had spent the entire previous night hungry, constantly thinking about how she would make something delicious as soon as dawn came. She hadn’t had the energy to think about anything else.

She never expected that she would now make the astonishing discovery that she was as strong as an ox.

Being strong was great.

At the very least, whenever someone tried to bully her, she would have the strength to fight back.
