Ying Miaomiao had run out of temper.

She turned her back, refusing to look at Shi Xinyu.

How could this person say such a thing? Where was she fat? Where was she greedy?Full novel: Become The Domesticated Pet Cat of a Mature, Bossy Lady Superior — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Slander! It was blatant slander!

Shi Xinyu was slightly amused. She poked the swollen back of the kitten. “Miaomiao? Are you angry?”

She poked several times, but it didn’t work.

“The world’s cutest little cat, will big sister apologize to you, okay?”

…

An apology was useless.

Curled up on the pillow, Ying Miaomiao stared at the phone, her pale blue eyes seeming to glow. She thought of her plan from earlier and couldn’t help but let out a sly chuckle.

She then realized something and quickly shut her mouth.

Just now, she had shown great interest in the phone, and Shi Xinyu, half-believing, had used the phone to search for cartoons for the kitten to watch.

Although Ying Miaomiao found this kind of cartoon meaningless, she showed extreme interest in front of Shi Xinyu.

What evil thoughts could a little cat possibly have?

Shi Xinyu, this woman, had indeed fallen for her charms and left the phone with Ying Miaomiao to watch TV while she went to take a bath.

The moment the door closed, Ying Miaomiao knew her scheme had worked.

Knowing that Shi Xinyu had saved Ms. Ying’s phone number, her goal became clear—she had to send a text message.

After exiting the video app, Ying Miaomiao found that Shi Xinyu’s phone interface was very simple, with no other complicated settings, which made it easier for her to find the app.

However, swiping away an app with a cat paw was relatively easy; precisely clicking on another app felt somewhat beyond her reach.

After the thirteenth mistaken tap, she finally opened the messaging app.

Although most people now used other social software, Ying Miaomiao had used text messages years ago, so she was quite familiar with the process.

Selecting the interface, she unhesitatingly chose the phone number she knew by heart.

But when it came to typing, she was stumped.

As everyone knows, if she could even make a mistake just clicking an app, a keyboard would only be smaller.

Ying Miaomiao was speechless. The word she struggled to type out looked like it had been rolled across with a face—completely illegible!

Frustrated, she chewed on her plump paws a couple of times. Why were her paws failing her at this crucial moment? She wanted to give them a bad review.

But time was precious, and Ying Miaomiao didn’t dare to delay too much.

Exerting all her might, she finally managed to type out the character for ‘Mom’.

But Ying Miaomiao looked at the remaining time and felt a sense of foreboding. She had already spent enough time from the beginning until now.

At her current typing speed, unless she was lucky, Shi Xinyu would catch her red-handed before she came out.

She hesitated for a few seconds, finally deciding to take a gamble.

Heaven seemed particularly unkind to her. After typing another character for ‘I’ (我), she heard footsteps outside the door. Ying Miaomiao’s paw slipped, and the message actually showed “Sent.”

She instantly panicked. She scrambled to exit the app and switched back to the cartoon she was watching earlier.

Just before Shi Xinyu entered the room, the phone rang. Ying Miaomiao’s breath hitched. Could it be her mother? She instinctively hung up the call before realizing the caller was someone else.

It was over.

Had she caused Shi Xinyu to miss a business secret?

Doubt, apprehension, and anxiety.

Several emotions intertwined, finally condensing into the two words: it’s over.

After Shi Xinyu came in, Ying Miaomiao felt she was beyond saving. Even at a time like this, her first reaction was still how beautiful Shi Xinyu was.

With her astonishing willpower, Ying Miaomiao lowered her head and casually swiped away the video app.

Shi Xinyu did notice the missed call.

Ying Miaomiao was suddenly embraced.

The hug was still warm and slightly damp. Just as she was about to struggle, the softness behind her made her completely still.

She dared not imagine what was behind her, only staring blankly at the phone as Shi Xinyu dialed back the number.

The call connected quickly. The voice on the other end was sweet and clear: “Shi Xinyu, how could you just hang up on me? That’s too hurtful.”

Her tone was cheerful and familiar, clearly indicating a close relationship with Shi Xinyu.

Shi Xinyu ignored her accusation, her tone flat. “What do you need?”

“Nothing much, just calling to gossip about you and your first love. How’s the progress lately?” Ying Miaomiao’s ears perked up instantly. First love? Who was Shi Xinyu’s first love?

Before Shi Xinyu could answer, the mocking voice on the other end came through again: “Oops, I forgot you’re carrying a torch.”

After a moment of silence, Shi Xinyu hung up the phone.

Ying Miaomiao felt a little uneasy.

She couldn’t figure out who Shi Xinyu’s first love was.

Shi Xinyu was so excellent, yet she still had an unrequited love?

She didn’t know why her mood had suddenly turned heavy. A strange, sour feeling, something she had never experienced before, rose within her.

The phone rang again.

“Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Do you know about the arranged marriage prospect your mother prepared for you?”

Shi Xinyu frowned slightly. “Talk seriously.”

The caller chuckled. “You found out, huh? It’s not exactly an arranged marriage prospect. It’s just that your two families have a business partnership, and the other party is returning from overseas, so they’re introducing you.”

“I see. Thank you.”

“…”

“Shi Xinyu, I find talking to you particularly boring. Why are you like a robot? You’re no fun at all. Forget it, I can’t be bothered with you. Hanging up.”

Ying Miaomiao hadn’t heard enough, but the person directly hung up. She was still very concerned about who Shi Xinyu’s unrequited first love was.

She secretly rationalized to herself: this wasn’t jealousy, it was curiosity. She was just curious about the identity of Shi Xinyu’s secret crush.

Shi Xinyu didn’t seem to take the caller’s words to heart. Seeing the kitten nestling obediently in her arms, everything remained normal.

“Miaomiao isn’t angry anymore?”

“Meow meow.”

That was strategy, not anger at all.

But Ying Miaomiao still looked away guiltily, hooking her tail around Shi Xinyu’s wrist.

Shi Xinyu smiled, gently placing the kitten on the bed to blow-dry her hair.

As the hairdryer hummed, it seemed to diffuse Shi Xinyu’s scent, an orchid fragrance mixed with warmth, lingering around Ying Miaomiao’s nose.

She had previously thought this scent was perfume, but Ying Miaomiao now began to suspect it might be some kind of unknown shower gel.

She suddenly felt a longing for Shi Xinyu’s embrace. She could smell the scent more clearly when held by her.

Ying Miaomiao looked at Shi Xinyu’s gentle face and suddenly had an impulse to stay by her side forever, as a little cat.

“Why are you staring at me?”

With the hairdryer on, Shi Xinyu carried an air of midsummer—bright and sunny.

She suddenly lowered her gaze. “Miaomiao, accompany me to listen to a song, okay?”

The song was a bit old. The melody was cheerful but subtly tinged with sorrow. Ying Miaomiao used to love this song, listening to it on repeat hundreds of times without tiring of it.

This song was about first love. Who exactly was Shi Xinyu thinking about?
