“Wow… This is incredibly sweet. It is juicy, is it not?”
MUNCH, MUNCH.
He took one out of the bag and bit straight into it.
Its juicy flavor was superb. It was sweet, tart, fresh, and altogether tremendous.
Before his Hunter Awakening, he had always survived on things like Cultured Meat and cheap nutrition bars.
“Come to think of it, how long has it been since I enjoyed good food, from my previous life until now?”
Even fried chicken was expensive in Seoul.
Chicken was sold as Cultured Meat, but oil was expensive.
To begin with, Seoul’s land itself was limited, so crops produced through Smart Farms on that land could not help being enormously expensive.
That was why Seoul usually imported food from Daebudo. Daebudo was not only a trading port, but also one of Korea’s foremost agricultural production regions.
“Should I live here instead of Seoul…?”
The internet worked here too.
There were Healers in this town as well, so if he was seriously injured, he could simply take a pile of money and ask a Healer for help.
Disease-type problems could also be resolved by Healers.
That did not mean doctors had disappeared, apparently.
Doctors still examined and treated mild illnesses, while only critically ill patients were treated by Healers.
“Now that I have power, it is nice that my range of activity has widened…”
Park Il-sang muttered that and bit into the fresh tomato again.
“It really is juicy, this thing.”
He liked it.
Thinking that, he headed toward his lodging.
A day had passed since he came to Daebudo.
He had arrived in Daebudo, and the commission had been completed. As for returning, they said each person could either go back on their own or return together with Kim Sang-in’s truck.
Park Il-sang said he would return alone.
In truth, if he rode Kitty and ran, he could cross the distance even without using roads, so he could move faster than riding in the Combat Truck.
Later, when his realm rose higher, he intended to create a Ghost Horse and ride it around.
A Ghost Horse had the Flight Ability to gallop through the sky, so it would probably be able to cross from Seoul to Busan in an hour.
“In any case… As expected, would it be better to raise my Grade first?”
He walked while crunching on the tomato.
Park Il-sang thought about what lay ahead. How happy had he been after Awakening as a Warrior-type Hunter?
It had been a time when his soul had filled with joy at the thought that he could finally escape life as a lower-class citizen.
But then he had suddenly become a Dual Class, and after regaining part of his previous life’s power, his thoughts had no choice but to change.
If he had been an ordinary Warrior Job Hunter, he would not have had thoughts like this in the first place.
Getting enough to live on for the day would have been more urgent.
When he had been a Warrior Class Hunter, his growth potential had been average anyway, so he had not thought much about it. Besides, since he had reincarnated and was living a bonus life, he had not had any particular future plans.
But now things were different.
He could do more, and he was allowed to have a wider perspective.
That was why he felt that this world was rather precarious.
As though.
It was like his previous life, which had been destroyed.
If so, what was most necessary was…
“Hmm. Yes. As expected, I have to focus on rapid leveling first.”
He would become a rapid-leveling Warrior—no, a rapid-leveling Necromancer!
That was Park Il-sang’s conclusion.
“Then shall I work hard starting tomorrow?”
Starting tomorrow, the path of Park Il-sang the Necromancer toward becoming a Corpse Lord would begin!
***
Park Il-sang returned to his usual life.
After finishing the Daebudo commission, he had ridden along in Kim Sang-in’s Combat Truck and returned to Seoul. He had planned to come back alone, but Kim Sang-in had hired Park Il-sang.
Since there were many Monsters, Kim Sang-in’s actions were understandable.
So Park Il-sang took some money and set off… but during the journey back to Seoul, they did not encounter any particular Monsters.
One might say he felt awkward because he had been paid but had barely fought.
The orc bastards that had been blocking the road were gone, and although they encountered the Gablk Swarm again, those creatures had never been especially threatening in the first place.
After returning like that and resting in his beloved home sweet home, Park Il-sang used the money he had earned this time to buy the Universal Skills he had intended to purchase.
They were the Broadcasting Skill and the Internet Skill.
Now he could access the internet and film broadcasts without separate equipment. He did not have much use for broadcast filming, but convenient internet access was certainly a good thing.
So today as well, Park Il-sang was leisurely walking toward the Frog Nest while looking through the [Hunter Board].
In the middle of that.
“Huh?”
[Is Necromancer not absurdly strong?]
Anonymous (41.091)
-No, what kind of lunatic breaks through an orc roadblock alone?
Is he really E-Grade? Not B-Grade?
(Drone footage)
A video had been uploaded of Park Il-sang blowing away the place where the orcs had been blocking the road and extorting tolls.
No. What was this now?
***
“There must have been footage someone recorded while scouting in Daebudo.”
The [Hunter Board] was in an uproar.
It was because of Park Il-sang’s performance!
The power of [Corpse Explosion], the new Skill he had obtained upon becoming E-Grade, was fairly strong, so it had not been difficult to charge Skeleton Beasts forward, detonate them, and smash the orc position apart.
But perhaps that had looked far too strong to other Hunters.
[What are melee Damage Dealers supposed to live on if they keep strengthening Mages like this?]
[Damn it! At least let us change Jobs!]
[Why are all the Mage Classes so good?]
[Summoners could use a buff too, haha.]
[Still, nothing beats Healers…]
[But is that guy the only Necromancer? Is there no one else?]
[I am a Necromancer, and that man is the strange one. I cannot do that.]
It truly showed what it meant for a board to catch fire.
It seemed everyone was envious.
Among them, what stood out were the posts written by those who had obtained the Necromancer Class like Park Il-sang.
[No, seriously, how does he do that?] Anonymous
-I am a Necromancer, and I have no damned idea.
Where do you even make those skeleton dogs?
And why do they explode?
How does he do that?
-I wonder. How could he do it?
-How the hell would I know! Are you bragging?
-Ah, I am getting the urge to kill.
└I told you, I do not know how to do that either! I am barely scraping by while being carried by others!
└Yes, yes. Next braggart.
“What an abundant harvest of nonsense. It has become a complete mess.”
Park Il-sang shook his head. In truth, he understood why the other Necromancers were acting like that.
Park Il-sang had knowledge from his previous life, so he knew which Skills he had to take first.
But those who had obtained the Necromancer Class for the first time would be at a loss from the very question of which Skills to acquire.
Skills such as [Corpse Processing] or the one that created [Corpse Boxes]… they would not even know those existed.
Even so, Park Il-sang himself had no intention of kindly posting a strategy guide.
Why would he? What would I gain from it?
The world will be destroyed soon anyway! One year left until the end of the world!
If it were that kind of situation, everyone would have to survive somehow, so he would freely release the knowledge he had. But in truth, this world was not quite at that level.
Ever since Park Il-sang had been born, the world had been in this sorry state, and it had remained in this sorry state for decades.
Park Il-sang chuckled and turned off the [Hunter Board].
The Frog Nest was before his eyes.
***
CRACK!
“Huh?”
Mr. Park Il-sang, the E-Grade Warrior/Necromancer who had intended to walk the path toward becoming a Corpse Lord.
After returning to Seoul, he had been running the Frog Nest as usual.
He could no longer level up there, but he did it to quickly supply himself with corpses and to earn money. By now, he had run it so many times that once he entered, he could clear it in thirty minutes.
Each run yielded a staggering number of corpses, well over one hundred.
He truly ran it over and over with great diligence.
What he did after continuously collecting corpses was nothing special.
First, he turned every Undead except Kitty into Necro Guards.
They were creatures into which he had crammed roughly ten corpses each, and they were extremely powerful.
There were a full thirty-one of them.
Each one of these was equal in ability to an F+ Warrior Class Hunter, so they could be called an enormous force.
Moreover, the shields and swords these creatures held, their armor and helmets, and even their boots.
All of those were things Park Il-sang had personally crafted and equipped them with.
With the benefit of all this equipment hanging from them, their combat power rivaled that of an E-Grade Warrior Class.
And every one of them had a [Corpse Box] hanging from its back. Including the one Park Il-sang himself carried on his back and the ten [Corpse Boxes] hung on Kitty’s body, he had prepared a full forty-two [Corpse Boxes].
Of course, it was only natural that he had crammed all one hundred corpses into each of them.
In other words, he was carrying around 4,200 corpses!
On top of that, he had made all sorts of items as well.
It was no different from having killed and harvested several thousand corpses from the Frog Nest, and in the meantime, he had carefully scraped together and stored every last Vengeful Spirit.
It truly made him wonder whether the place was the Giving Tree itself.
But.
What in the world was this?
“What is that?”
Park Il-sang had been about to enter the Frog Nest once again when he heard a cracking sound from the dimensional gate that served as the Dungeon entrance.
In other words, the portal.
And then.
He saw cracks appearing in the portal.
“I have never seen this before… Is it all right to enter? No, wait a moment. First, I should record this…”
He turned on the Broadcasting Skill.
It was called a Broadcasting Skill, but in truth, it could also record footage.
While recording like that, Park Il-sang slowly stretched his hand toward the portal.
That was when it happened.
CRAAAACK!
ZZT! ZZZZZT!
FLASH!
“Huh?”
The portal made a grotesque sound, as well as a sound like Mana crackling, and then disappeared in a burst of light.
“Eh? The Dungeon disappeared?”
Park Il-sang let out a strange sound at a phenomenon he had never seen in his life.
Then he thought hard.
“A Dungeon can vanish? No, that cannot be. No phenomenon like this has ever been discovered until now.”
Park Il-sang was so surprised that he muttered to himself.
That was when it happened.
