The rain had finally stopped.

For the first time in days, sunlight poured through the glass walls of Wayne Corporation.

The atmosphere remained tense.

Marcus Reed rushed into Damian’s office carrying a thick brown folder.

“I’ve confirmed it.”

Damian looked up from his laptop.

“The metadata?”

Marcus nodded.

“It belongs to a computer registered under Harrington Global Holdings.”

Damian closed the file in front of him.

“So Victoria lied.”

“It appears so.”

Marcus placed another document on the desk.

“Ethan Brooks has also agreed to give a signed statement about what he overheard.”

Damian slowly stood.

“We’re finally getting somewhere.”

Building the Case

Later that morning, Damian, Marcus, the company’s legal team, and Captain James Holloway gathered in the executive conference room.

The evidence covered the large table.

Photographs.

Courier records.

Visitor logs.

Security footage.

Forensic reports.

Captain Holloway folded his arms.

“Individually, these pieces raise suspicion.”

“But together…”

“They show a pattern.”

The company’s lawyer nodded.

“If we’re going to confront Victoria, we need undeniable proof.”

Marcus looked at Damian.

“I have an idea.”

Everyone turned toward him.

“We set a trap.”

The Plan

Marcus explained carefully.

“We leak false information.”

Damian frowned.

“What kind of information?”

“We announce that Lily has been promoted back to Executive Assistant.”

Everyone looked surprised.

Marcus continued.

“If Victoria is behind this…”

“She won’t stay quiet.”

“She’ll make another move.”

Captain Holloway nodded slowly.

“And this time…”

“We’ll be watching.”

Damian remained silent for a long moment.

Finally, he spoke.

“I don’t like putting Lily at risk.”

Marcus answered quietly.

“We won’t.”

“She’ll be protected every second.”

After several minutes of discussion…

Damian reluctantly agreed.

The Fake Announcement

That afternoon, an internal company email was sent to senior employees.

Effective immediately, Miss Lily Carter will resume her duties as Executive Assistant to the CEO pending the conclusion of the investigation.

The email spread through the building within minutes.

Vanessa frowned.

“That was fast.”

Daniel Foster smiled.

“Good.”

“She deserves it.”

Lily herself was confused.

She hurried toward Damian’s office.

When she entered, she closed the door behind her.

“I just received the email.”

Damian motioned for her to sit.

“It’s part of an investigation.”

She looked puzzled.

“What do you mean?”

Marcus explained everything.

Lily listened quietly.

“So…”

“You think someone will react?”

Marcus nodded.

“We’re counting on it.”

She hesitated.

“And if you’re wrong?”

Damian answered immediately.

“We’re not taking chances.”

“There will be security around you at all times.”

Lily looked at both men.

Then nodded.

“If this helps end everything…”

“I’ll do it.”

Victoria Takes the Bait

Across town…

Victoria sat inside her office when her assistant burst through the door.

“They promoted Lily back.”

Victoria looked up sharply.

“What?”

She snatched the printed email.

Her hands trembled with anger.

“Impossible.”

“They’re mocking me.”

Her breathing became heavier.

“I’ve done everything…”

“And she’s still there.”

Her assistant stepped back nervously.

“What should we do?”

Victoria’s eyes hardened.

“If they won’t remove her…”

“I will.”

The Warehouse

Late that evening, Lily left the office with two security officers.

As they approached the company parking area, one officer received a phone call.

“There’s been an accident at the front gate.”

Both officers hurried away after confirming that another security team was nearby.

Lily waited beside the company car.

Suddenly…

A delivery van pulled into the parking lot.

The driver lowered his window.

“Miss Carter?”

She stepped closer cautiously.

“Yes?”

“I have an urgent package for you.”

“I wasn’t expecting one.”

“It’s from Mr. Wayne.”

She frowned.

“Mr. Wayne?”

Before she could react, two masked men jumped out from the back of the van.

One grabbed her wrist.

The other covered her mouth.

Lily struggled desperately.

“No!”

She tried to scream.

But her voice was muffled.

The men dragged her toward the van.

At that exact moment…

Several floodlights suddenly illuminated the entire parking lot.

“Freeze!”

Captain Holloway’s voice echoed across the warehouse district behind the parking area.

Security officers rushed from every direction.

The masked men released Lily and tried to run.

One escaped over a fence.

The other was tackled to the ground by security.

Lily stumbled backward, shaken but unharmed.

Damian appeared moments later, having followed the security team’s radio call.

He ran straight to Lily.

“Lily!”

She looked up.

“I’m okay…”

Before she could finish speaking, her knees gave way.

Damian caught her before she hit the ground.

She clung to him, trembling uncontrollably.

“It’s over,” he said softly.

“You’re safe.”

She buried her face against his shoulder, tears finally spilling down her cheeks.

For the first time since the attacks had begun…

She allowed herself to cry.

Damian held her gently, his voice calm despite the anger burning inside him.

“No one is going to take you from me.”

A few feet away, Captain Holloway searched the captured man’s pockets.

He pulled out a mobile phone.

It buzzed with a new message.

The sender’s name appeared on the screen.

V.H.

Captain Holloway looked toward Damian.

“We’ve got something.”

Damian’s expression hardened as he read the message:

“Don’t fail this time. Make sure Lily disappears tonight.”

The parking lot fell silent.

There was no longer just suspicion.

There was evidence.

And somewhere across the city…

Victoria Harrington had no idea that her carefully built web of lies had just begun to collapse.
