9 – Fu Siyan patiently said again: “Baby, call Daddy?”
Packing the baby’s things was quick. Sheng Xingyang put everything into the diaper bag, held the now-awake Sheng Wanyu in her arms, and handed the bag to Fu Siyan.
“Formula milk—are you sure you know how to make it? Usually, you add water first, then the powder,” Sheng Xingyang reminded him. “And diapers need to be changed every two to three hours, or she’ll get a rash.”
Fu Siyan knew. He had made formula twice for his aunt’s baby and had changed diapers before. “Don’t worry, I can handle it.”
“Alright, then I’ll trouble you with it.” Sheng Xingyang glanced at him, gently stroking the baby in her arms who was chewing on her pacifier. “Actually, I’m a bit worried… that you don’t know how to take care of a baby, and… I’m afraid you might take her to Lin Meisu.”
Fu Siyan slightly furrowed his brows. “How about this—do you still have time before work?”
Sheng Xingyang checked her watch. “I have about an hour.”
“Come with me to the dessert shop. I had the workers install surveillance in the shop last night,” Fu Siyan said. “I know you suspect there’s something between me and your stepmother, but I swear on my honor that I would never do anything to hurt you or the baby.”
Sheng Xingyang indeed didn’t fully trust him. She pursed her lips and said, “Let’s go to your shop first and see?”
“Okay, get ready. I’ll go get the car.” Fu Siyan looked at the adorable, pink-cheeked little bundle, Sheng Wanyu, who was obediently sucking on her pacifier. His beautiful peach-blossom eyes unconsciously softened.
He raised his hand and gently stroked the little one’s fluffy, curly hair.
Sheng Wanyu seemed to have curly hair just like him?
How fascinating.
Fu Siyan patted the little one’s head for a while. Xiao Wanyu, feeling his affection, immediately started making soft, milky sounds as she chewed on her pacifier, humming as if trying to call out to someone.
However, Sheng Xingyang had never taught her the word “daddy.”
The little one had no concept of it.
She really wanted to call him but didn’t know what to say.
She could only hum softly.
“Good girl, I’ll spend the whole day with you today.” Fu Siyan smiled, gently pinching Wanyu’s chubby little hand and playing finger games with her. After a moment, he went downstairs to get the car.
Sheng Xingyang held Wanyu and fed her first.
Once the little one was full, Sheng Xingyang carried her and took the elevator downstairs.
At the entrance of the apartment building, Sheng Xingyang held Xiao Wanyu and looked around, trying to spot Fu Siyan.
After searching for a moment, she heard the sound of a car horn.
Sheng Xingyang immediately walked toward the direction of the sound. As she got closer, she realized Fu Siyan’s car was actually a Mercedes-Benz G-Class?
Sheng Xingyang’s brows furrowed. This kind of G-Class cost over two million on the market.
How could he afford such an expensive car?
To be precise, she couldn’t understand why, if he had such an expensive car, he would agree to Lin Meisu’s request to go on a blind date with a woman who had a baby?
Sheng Xingyang immediately looked suspiciously at the man in the car. “Is this your car?”
Fu Siyan originally wanted to say yes—this was his cheapest car.
He usually left it in the garage and hardly ever drove it.
If he hadn’t been afraid of scaring her by driving something too fancy, he wouldn’t have chosen this cheapest car.
But seeing her expression, Fu Siyan swallowed the words he was about to say.
She must be suspecting him now.
“Of course not. Although I have some savings, I’m not that rich. This belongs to a relative of mine. He lent it to me for a while,” Fu Siyan calmly explained.
Sheng Xingyang nodded, opened the rear car door, and carried Sheng Wanyu inside.
Fu Siyan glanced at her through the rearview mirror, then at the little baby in her arms. He thought to himself that he should have Xu Kun buy a baby car seat from the mall later.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t be safe when he drove her and their daughter out to play in the future.
The dessert shop wasn’t far from the TV station, located within the station’s commercial district.
The location was excellent.
Most importantly, it was very, very close to her workplace—just about a five-minute walk.
When Fu Siyan parked the car, Sheng Xingyang looked at the familiar surroundings of the commercial district and then at the dessert shop in its prime location, feeling slightly surprised. “This place is so close to where I work.”
Feigning ignorance, Fu Siyan deliberately put on a shocked expression on his overly handsome face. “Huh? Really? Sister, you work around here?”
Sheng Xingyang nodded. “Yes, the municipal TV station up ahead is where I work.”
Fu Siyan knew this. It was precisely because he had found out where she worked that he had spent a high price to take over this dessert shop. “What a coincidence. From now on, if you bring your colleagues here for dessert, it’s on the house.”
“And you can also drop by to see Wanyu during breaks, right?”
Fu Siyan spoke convincingly and with utmost sincerity.
Sheng Xingyang had no reason at all to suspect that he had intentionally bought the shop here. “No need for free desserts. Your shop just opened—I don’t want you to lose money.”
“Could you take me inside first?”
Fu Siyan nodded, strode ahead with his long legs to lead the way. When they reached the entrance of the dessert shop, he took out the key to unlock the door. The glass door swung open with a clatter.
Fu Siyan pushed the door open and let her in.
“Sister, feel free to look around.”
Sheng Xingyang didn’t have time to explore. She quickly glanced around the dessert shop—the decor was very nature-themed, with a fresh, forest-like vibe.
“I’ll come back to look around after work. I need to head to the TV station now. Could you help me set up the surveillance?”
“Sure.” Fu Siyan casually tossed the keys onto the counter and turned on the surveillance equipment there. “Sister, open your phone and come connect to the IP here.”
Sheng Xingyang placed Xiao Wanyu on a soft little sofa inside the dessert shop, then took out her phone to connect to his computer’s IP.
Once connected, she opened the surveillance system.
She could clearly see the entire shop. There was indeed no need to worry about him doing anything bad to Xiao Wanyu.
“Can you see it now?” Fu Siyan asked.
Sheng Xingyang nodded, tucked her phone back into her bag, and looked at him. “Thank you for helping me take care of the baby. Once Aunt Mei returns, I’ll have her take over.”
Fu Siyan was more than happy to help. “Sister, when Aunt Mei comes back, have her come to my shop. That way, you can drop by to see the baby during your lunch break?”
And he could also see her every day at noon.
Sheng Xingyang felt it would be too much trouble for him. Even though they had impulsively gotten married and registered, there was no real emotional foundation between them—especially since… he had been introduced by Lin Meisu.
She still held onto a lingering sense of caution toward him.
“No need,” Sheng Xingyang gently refused. “Having the baby in the shop might also affect your business. I’ll head to work now. Thank you for your help today.”
After saying this, Sheng Xingyang went over to the sofa to hug the little pink bundle. “Xiao Yu’er, Mommy has to go to work. Will you play with… Uncle in the shop?”
Sheng Wanyu, biting her pacifier, looked at the young man frowning beside her. She liked playing with him.
“Mommy, bye.” Xiao Wanyu immediately nodded her little head without hesitation, letting go of her pacifier and opening her small mouth to mimic her words: “Un… uncle.”
“Good girl, Mommy is leaving.” Sheng Xingyang smiled, gently stroking her precious daughter’s head before standing up to leave first.
Xiao Wanyu didn’t cry or fuss, swaying her pacifier as she watched her mommy leave with longing eyes.
After Sheng Xingyang disappeared onto the street outside the shop, Fu Siyan strode over with his long legs and picked up the little pink bundle, his gaze tender as he said with a slight curl of his thin lips, “Baby, I’m not your uncle.”
Xiao Wanyu didn’t understand, blinking her beautiful big eyes.
If not uncle, then what?
She was still young, with little knowledge in her mind, and didn’t quite grasp what this tall, handsome uncle meant.
“Call me Daddy from now on, okay?” Fu Siyan patiently coaxed her in a low voice.
Sheng Wanyu heard the word “daddy” for the first time, her beautiful big eyes fluttering as she looked at the handsome man before her. At first, she didn’t call out.
Fu Siyan patiently repeated, “Baby, call… Daddy?”
Sheng Wanyu blinked her big eyes with long lashes again, finally obediently opening her small mouth to mumble and imitate the pronunciation: “Da…ddy.”
“That’s right.” Fu Siyan was overjoyed to hear her call him that, gently kissing her as he lowered his head. “Call me again?”
Sheng Wanyu giggled at his kiss, opening her mouth to babble in a soft, unclear voice: “Daddy!”
