One month later.
The Main Hall of the Cheonjin Sect.
Since early morning, many disciples and elders had gathered in rows in the center of the Main Hall.
And,
Creaaak.
A man opened the doors of the Main Hall and entered.
With pale skin, thin, small lips, and draped in all sorts of luxury goods, he was a man named Dam Kang-hyeon, who ascended to the position of Sect Leader at the young age of twenty-seven after the previous Sect Leader died seven days ago of a mysterious illness.
The first son of the Sect Leader and one of the Twelve Divine Dragons, the twelve rising experts of the Murim, Dam Kang-hyeon.
He lacked nothing to ascend to the position of Sect Leader, whether by skill or legitimate lineage.
Even so, there had been much talk within the Sect regarding his qualifications as Sect Leader for a while.
The reason was Dam Kang-hyeon’s cruel nature…
His cruel disposition was such that even his father, the Sect Leader, had considered expelling him, which gave an idea of just how vicious he was.
However, right before the Sect Leader could expel him, he passed away from a sudden illness, leaving Dam Kang-hyeon to inevitably become the Sect Leader.
Rumors circulated that Dam Kang-hyeon’s mother, the Sect Leader’s First wife, had poisoned her husband to place her son on the throne, so the gossip was bound to multiply.
Eventually, a civil war broke out within the Sect, and during that conflict, Dam Ye-rin, who had been designated as one of the Sect Leader’s successors, became Dam Kang-hyeon’s target and was chased away.
The civil war ended in an overwhelming victory for Dam Kang-hyeon’s faction, backed by his mother who hailed from the Hebei Peng Clan, one of the famous noble families.
Not a single person who had questioned Dam Kang-hyeon’s qualifications survived, so no one dared to speak of it anymore.
“We greet the Sect Leader.”
As Dam Kang-hyeon walked along the red cloth in the exact center of the courtyard, the disciples parted to both sides with a rustle, dropping to one knee and cupping their fists.
Behind him followed the Heavenly Blood Guard, the strongest Unit in the Cheonjin Sect, directly under the Sect Leader, and beside him was his mother, Peng Seo-hyeon.
When Dam Kang-hyeon sat on the Platform that resembled a palace’s dragon throne, only then did the many disciples straighten their knees and rise from their spots.
Dam Kang-hyeon raised his head and looked at the hundreds of disciples with a satisfied expression.
The Cheonjin Sect was the largest Great Sect in Hebei, founded five hundred years ago by the hero, Sword Emperor Dam Hyeon-woo.
For someone who was once on the verge of being stripped of his succession to become the Sect Leader leading that very Sect, his emotions were surely extraordinary.
Soon after, Gu-ja walked up to the Sect Leader and dropped to one knee.
At that, Dam Kang-hyeon’s smile quickly vanished.
“I heard you lost her.
Is that true?”
Dam Kang-hyeon chillingly glared down at Gu-ja with his narrow, slit-like eyes.
“I apologize.
Blood Thunder appeared, so we lost her.”
“Her escort warrior, I-do, wasn’t by Dam Ye-rin’s side either.
I heard Blood Thunder appeared much later.
What were you doing until then?
Do you think that serves as an excuse?”
