Naturally, they had beaten the bastard half to death before sending him off, but the aftermath wasn’t simple.

Prosecutor Kim Yeong-chan, who backed Viper Han Sang-gi, was relentless in his efforts to lock Salk up.

Because of that, the two men turned themselves in and shared the burden in Salk’s place.Full novel: Blood Demon Sword God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Naturally, Salk went crazy and caused a ruckus, but even the boss, Kim Man-bok, emphasized that it was an unavoidable situation, barely managing to calm him down.

However, Salk regretted that incident time and time again.

Especially when he saw Su-yeon, that thought grew even stronger.

Su-yeon was in a romantic relationship with Mang-chi.

The two were supposed to get married soon, but that plan had been pushed back by a year.

“They were both worried about how you were doing, Brother.”

Seeing the shadow that appeared on Salk’s face, Su-yeon hesitated a few times before speaking up.

“I only have myself to look after.

What’s there to worry about?”

“Lately, the secretary general has been calling in all sorts of people and entertaining them every day.

His movements seem unusual.”

“Don’t even mention that bastard.”

“Brother Yeong-su also said the secretary general is plotting something and asked me to tell you to be careful, Big Brother.”

“I know too.”

Salk replied with a stiff face.

Right now, the Miracle Faction was the world of the secretary general, Viper.

While reorganizing the organization, Viper used his excellent social skills to build friendships with figures in politics and government, turning the Miracle Faction into a legal organization.

As part of that, he was running around day and night to get Boss Kim Man-bok a seat as a city councilor in the upcoming local elections.

Salk didn’t like Viper’s way of doing things.

What does a gangster have to do with politics?

He also wasn’t unaware that Viper was trying to use prosecutor Kim Yeong-chan to erase him, as the former was a constant thorn in his side.

“Enough with the headache-inducing talk.

Take this.”

Salk took an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to Su-yeon.

“What is this?”

“It’s a gift from your big brother.”

Thinking Salk was acting differently than usual, Su-yeon looked inside the envelope.

Inside were bundles of checks.

She immediately looked at Salk with surprised eyes.

“It’s not much, but when Mang-chi gets out, get married and live decently like everyone else.

And take care of Yeong-su’s family in my stead.”

“Brother?”

“Don’t worry.

I don’t plan on doing anything right now.

I just said it in case.”

Salk hated that he had to say such things.

Whenever he thought he had nothing to be ashamed of before the heavens, he acted without hesitation.

But now, nothing was going his way.

It didn’t matter to him since he could just leave, but he kept worrying about those left behind.

He even felt regret, thinking that if he had known it would be like this, he should have saved money like everyone else, so he could share it generously.
