He sat on the bed, quietly waiting for the urge to subside, but the more he tried to control his thoughts, the more the opposite happened.
After more than ten minutes, he got up, grabbed his clothes, and went to take a shower.
Song Meihua noticed that her son had gone to shower first thing in the morning and stayed in there for a full hour, using up the large tub of water she had prepared, leaving none for her to cook lunch. Frustrated, she exclaimed, “If you’re going to shower this long next time, go to the river and wash there—take as long as you like!”
Lu Yunyang emerged from the shower, expressionless, and replied, “I’ll fetch water later.”
Song Meihua could only wait for him to return with water before making lunch. As a result, the meal was nearly half an hour late. Fortunately, the weather was scorching that afternoon, and the production team leader, worried about the crew getting heatstroke, did not rush anyone to work.
Back in his room, Lu Yunyang looked at the bed but did not lie down; instead, he recalled the scenes from his dream. For some reason, a sudden and intense longing to see her surged within him.
He had to return to the commune for work the next morning, so the afternoon was his only window.
It was noon, and everyone had yet to leave for work. The Su Family should all be home, so he had no excuse to go.
Sitting on the bed, he let the emotions swell, and the urge to see her grew stronger. Desire overtook reason, and he rose directly from the bed and headed out.
Seeing him about to leave, Song Meihua asked anxiously, “It’s so hot—where are you going?”
Lu Yunyang glanced at her and, feeling a twinge of guilt, muttered, “Nowhere. I’ll be back soon.”
“Brother, I want to go too!” Lu Yunzhao immediately piped up. With her brother showering and changing clothes, she knew he was going to see that girl and wanted to know who she was.
Lu Yunyang looked at her calmly. “You want to follow me to see patients?”
Lu Yunzhao quickly pierced through his lie. “Then why didn’t you bring the medicine box?”
Caught off guard, Lu Yunyang paused before replying lightly, “I’m just going for a follow-up. No medicine box needed. Why do you want to come along?”
Lu Yunzhao hummed. Somehow, it all sounded suspicious.
Before she could respond further, Lu Yunyang had already left.
Although the Su Family harbored no grudge against him now, he knew that his relationship with Yutao was not something to make public. So instead of taking the main road, he chose a small path that led directly to the back of the Su Family house.
It wasn’t long before he reached his destination. From his vantage point, he could see Yutao’s rear window wide open, and faint voices could be heard from inside.
He waited patiently until the voices quieted, then crept forward, peering slightly through the window.
The girl sat on the edge of the bed, dressed lightly on top, wearing shorts that revealed her fair, slender legs, much as he had seen her in his dream.
She was bent over, engrossed in stirring something in a bowl.
Lu Yunyang’s breath caught. He immediately withdrew, leaning against the wall and slowly exhaling to calm himself.
After regaining composure, he peeked again, lightly knocking on the window.
Hearing the sound, Yutao turned and jumped in surprise at the sight of a head peering in. Once she recognized him, she put down what she was doing and ran to close the door. Returning to the window, she smiled and looked at him, asking softly, “What are you doing here?”
Lu Yunyang caught a faint whiff of her subtle fragrance, just like in the dream. His eyes flicked to her lightly clad figure, and he quietly turned his gaze, his voice husky: “I missed you…”
Yutao saw his wandering eyes and shyness, and her mind immediately worked out the reason.
The weather was too hot, and she had just been pounding medicinal powders, breaking a sweat, so she had changed into cooler clothes.
The man was avoiding looking at her.
A sly glint passed through her eyes as she reached out, pinching his chin to turn his face toward her. After a moment, she leaned close and whispered in his ear, “Then why don’t you come in?”
The warm breath brushed against him like a feather tickling his chest, a gentle, electrifying sensation.
Lu Yunyang’s eyes flickered, and he froze, tightening his breath. “Your… your mother is here. It’s… not convenient…”
Their eyes met. His eyes glistened red, jaw tense, a blue vein on his forehead standing out. The restraint reddened his face.
Yutao slid her finger down, lightly tracing his prominent Adam’s apple, her moist eyes fixed on him as she smiled coquettishly. “Then don’t let my mother see.”
“Huh?” Lu Yunyang looked at her, confused.
She pushed aside one side of the window and tapped the sill, smiling at him. “Come in through here.”
Lu Yunyang’s heart skipped, chest heaving violently. “In broad daylight… climb… climb through the window?”
Seeing his hesitation, Yutao huffed, frowned, lips slightly pursed, small face showing a tinge of disappointment. “Fine, if you don’t want to…”
“I can do it alone. My hands are tired from pounding the medicine, it’s okay…”
“I just want to see you now…”
“I’ll come in!” she pouted coquettishly yet with mock grievance. He couldn’t resist and agreed, “I’ll come in.”
Yutao’s eyes brightened, her earlier disappointment melting away, and she stepped aside with a smile. “Be careful. Don’t let my mother hear.”
The window wasn’t high. Lu Yunyang placed his hands on the sill, pushed slightly, and leapt, climbing inside effortlessly.
His body was light, and he landed inside gracefully.
As soon as he stood, the girl leapt into his arms.
He caught her instantly. The sudden force made him stagger, and both fell toward the window. Before he could react, her lips pressed against his.
Soft and warm, her kiss burned. After a while, Lu Yunyang struggled to resist, and thinking of the broad daylight, reason surged back.
He gently pushed her away, holding back his racing heart, voice barely audible: “You said your hands were sore. Let me show you.”
Surprised, Yutao felt frustrated. “My hands aren’t sore!”
She looped her arms around his neck, leaning close. “I just wanted to hug you and kiss you…”
Her coquettish voice was soft, like a bewitching chime.
Her fair cheeks flushed pink, lips glossy and tender like a peeled peach, enticing him.
Lu Yunyang’s rationality almost collapsed. He forced himself to stay calm and pulled her hands down. “I see your hands are sore. You said so yourself—very sore.”
Yutao glared at him in protest. When he didn’t let go after a while, she scowled, “Fine, they’re sore. Hurry and press them for me.”
Though annoyed, she looked more composed. Lu Yunyang inhaled deeply and said, “Alright.”
He pressed her hands twice, and she laughed, “Not the wrists, a bit higher…”
He froze, glancing at her white, jade-like arms. His eyes drifted upward, but all he saw was her proud posture.
He diverted his gaze, afraid to move further.
Seeing his inaction, Yutao pushed her hands forward. “My arms are sore, not my wrists. You got it wrong, Doctor Lu.”
He knew she was teasing but couldn’t scold her. He looked at her seriously. “Stop it. It’s broad daylight…”
“Then broad daylight is fine, right?” She leaned closer, catching the blush on his face. “I was pounding medicine, my whole body is sore. Will you help me tonight?”
The mention of night reminded him of the dream…
The scene felt intensely real against her presence.
Stirred, he breathed heavily, clenching his teeth. “I can help you pound the medicine now!”
He immediately released her hands, walked to the table, sat down, and began pounding the medicinal powders.
Watching him swing his arms like venting anger, the pounding sound echoed.
Not wanting anyone outside to hear, Yutao quickly approached, pressing his arm gently, placing a finger to her lips in a “shh.”
“Don’t be so loud!” Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “If you don’t know how, I’ll teach you.”
Though a serious statement, her soft tone carried an almost seductive undertone.
He turned his gaze. She leaned slightly, her loose clothing slipping with the movement, exposing the curve of her chest.
Under the scorching sun, surrounded by constant temptation, even the most resolute man felt his defenses weaken.
Lu Yunyang stared at her, seeing the boldness in her eyes, his Adam’s apple rolling slightly. “I know how. You don’t need to teach me.”
Yutao raised her brows, about to speak, when he suddenly pulled her into his arms.
Startled, she gasped. Immediately, he lowered his head, biting her lips fiercely.
This kiss was not gentle like before; it was fiery, as if venting, aggressively conquering her defenses. His scorching heat penetrated her senses, making her moan involuntarily.
Passing by outside, Su Yuqing suddenly heard strange noises from the room. Instinctively, she froze, stepped forward, and knocked on the door. “Sister, what are you doing?”
