The vibration continued, the screen flashing with an unfamiliar phone number.
Jian Xi hesitated for a moment before answering.
“Sister-in-law, it’s me, Rui Kun!” came the cheerful voice of Rui Kun on the other end.
Jian Xi paused for two seconds before recalling who it was and asked, “Oh, do you need something this late?”
“Are you with Brother Nan?
I can’t find him.”
“We’re not together; I’m at my place, and he’s at his,” Jian Xi rubbed her temples, getting engaged is one thing, it’s not like they’re married!
“Oh, have you seen the gift I sent for you, sister-in-law?”
Jian Xi was startled: Today, she was so preoccupied with dealing with the Qiao family that she’d forgotten all about it.
“Sister-in-law, you’re breaking my heart.
I picked out the gift with so much care, and you didn’t even take a look?”
“Sorry, there was just too much going on today.
I’ll go check it now.”
