It was none other than Gu Shijin.

Surprise flickered in Lu Wanmian’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Gu Shijin to be in this class as well. How fortunate—being close to the water tower means getting the moon first. From now on, she would have ample opportunity to approach him.

Under everyone’s gaze, she walked straight to the back of the classroom and took a seat beside Gu Shijin.Full novel: Bro, Stop Imprisoning the Heroine, I’m Back After Causing Trouble Again — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Seeing her sit there, the others exchanged surprised looks and began whispering among themselves.

“Whoa! This transfer student actually dares to sit next to Gu Shijin. She’s not falling for him because he’s handsome, is she?”

“Tsk tsk! Gu Shijin may have great grades, but his temper is strange. He’s always aloof and ignores everyone. When a girl sent him a love letter, he tossed it straight into the trash and made her cry.”

“I also heard that a girl once liked him and pursued him crazily. Then somehow, she ended up with both legs broken and will have to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.”

“Seriously, whoever likes him is just asking for trouble! This transfer student doesn’t know the situation and wants to win him over—she’s probably in for a rough time.”

…

Hearing these whispers, Lu Wanmian recalled that in the original story’s extra chapters, it was mentioned that due to his background, Gu Shijin had a somewhat withdrawn personality and didn’t like getting close to girls. But he was handsome and attracted plenty of admirers. To avoid being harassed by those girls, he had no choice but to cut off those advances with harsh measures, which in turn gave rise to many rumors.

She turned to look at Gu Shijin. His gaze was cold, his expression blank, as if he couldn’t care less about what people were saying.

Lu Wanmian ignored them as well. She turned to Gu Shijin with a smile and asked with concern, “How’s the injury on your back? Feeling any better?”

He gave her a cold, indifferent glance and replied in a voice devoid of warmth, “Better.”

Lu Wanmian smiled. “That’s good.”

She wanted to say more, but Gu Shijin didn’t pay her any further attention, focusing instead on his book.

Lu Wanmian raised an eyebrow. This guy really was withdrawn and cold, hard to get close to. Still, there was no need to rush. She would take her time with him in the days to come.

The teacher at the podium glanced at the students whispering among themselves and gave a light cough as a reminder. “Alright, stop the chatter. Let’s continue with the lesson.”

Only then did the murmuring stop, and everyone turned their attention to the blackboard.

Gu Shijin had only listened for about ten minutes before he felt drowsy and laid his head down on the desk to sleep.

Lu Wanmian guessed that he worked part-time until late every night and probably didn’t have much time to sleep, so he had to make up for it during class. Still, with his high intelligence, even if he often slept through lessons, his grades remained excellent.

Lu Wanmian looked at her textbook and tried to follow the lecture. She had just transferred into this major and knew nothing about it. The courses at Jing University were also quite difficult—to her, it was like reading a book written in a foreign language.

She really couldn’t understand it, so she gave up. Bored with nothing to do, she grabbed a blank piece of paper and started doodling.

Lu Ruoruo, sitting in the front row, turned back to glance in her direction, her eyes filled with displeasure.

When the class ended, the students filed out of the room, and Gu Shijin left as well.

With no more classes for a while, Lu Wanmian planned to take a stroll around campus to familiarize herself with the environment.

She had just stood up when she saw Lu Ruoruo walking over, saying in a sour tone, “A slacker student like you actually got into Jing University? Your brother must have spent a fortune, didn’t he?”

They had already looked into Lu Wanmian before and knew about her past.

Seeing her run over to mock her, Lu Wanmian wasn’t one to take a loss lying down. She blinked her bright eyes and asked, “My brother did spend a lot of money. What, did you get into Jing University without spending any?”

Lu Ruoruo shot her a glare. “I got in on my own merit. Didn’t spend a cent.”

Lu Wanmian let out an “oh” and nodded knowingly. “So you didn’t spend any money. Then are you feeling envious and jealous of me now—that I can get in without even trying, just by spending a little cash?”

Lu Ruoruo’s expression shifted, and she hastily retorted, “Nonsense! Who said I’m envious or jealous of you?”

Lu Wanmian snorted. “If you’re not envious or jealous, then why did you come over here to say all this?”

Lu Ruoruo’s lips twitched slightly. She hadn’t expected this woman to have such a sharp tongue.

She changed the subject. “The coursework at Jing University is extremely difficult—not something a slacker like you could possibly understand. Even if you painstakingly take notes, you’d probably still be completely lost.”

Lu Wanmian raised an eyebrow. “Whether I understand it or not is none of your business. Besides, I didn’t take any notes in class—I was just doodling.”

“Doodling?”

A flicker of surprise crossed Lu Ruoruo’s eyes. Then, recalling that Lu Wanmian had deliberately chosen to sit next to Gu Shijin, she sneered, “Don’t tell me you were secretly sketching Gu Shijin? What a lovesick fool.”

Lu Wanmian shook her head. “I wasn’t drawing him.”

Lu Ruoruo couldn’t help but ask, “If you weren’t drawing him, then who were you drawing?”

Lu Wanmian just looked at her without saying a word.

Lu Ruoruo gasped. “You weren’t secretly drawing me, were you?”

She snatched up the piece of paper on the desk and unfolded it. What was on it wasn’t her at all—it was clearly a fat, plump pig.

Lu Ruoruo’s face changed. “You drew a pig? Are you calling me a pig?”

Lu Wanmian spread her hands. “If you want to claim it, I can’t stop you. After all, if someone would rather be a pig than a person, there’s nothing I can do to stop them.”

Lu Ruoruo realized she’d been tricked and stamped her foot in fury. “Lu Wanmian, you actually dared to mess with me!”

Lu Wanmian curled her lip. “That’s your own fault for being so dumb. Your dad loves eating shit so much, I’m sure you do too. Want me to buy you ten pounds of shit to replenish your brain?”

At the mention of that again, Lu Ruoruo jumped in anger. “Lu Wanmian, you listen to me—my dad does NOT eat shit, and neither do I! YOU’RE the one who likes eating shit! Your whole family likes eating it!”

Lu Wanmian crossed her arms and looked at her. “But my whole family includes you too. So that means you like eating it.”

Lu Ruoruo’s lips twitched. Damn it—she’d momentarily forgotten they were from the same family.

Seeing Lu Ruoruo acting this foolish, Lu Wanmian—who had zero tolerance for stupidity—shook her head, gathered her books, and turned to leave.

Lu Ruoruo was about to chase after her when a friend’s voice came from behind. “Ruoruo, campus heartthrob Pei Jiayou is about to head to the basketball court with his crew. Are you coming to watch?”

Lu Ruoruo’s eyes lit up, and she nodded. “Brother Jiayou is my good friend, of course I’m going to cheer him on!”

She turned to look at Lu Wanmian and said with a hint of pride, “You don’t even know who Pei Jiayou is, do you? He’s the campus heartthrob of Jing University—the young master of the third generation of the Pei family. Rich and powerful, and most importantly, we’re especially close friends.”

Lu Wanmian narrowed her eyes slightly.

Pei Jiayou—the nephew of the original male lead, the young master of the Pei family.

The Pei family was one of the top aristocratic clans in the capital. There were two brothers in the Pei family: Pei Jiayou’s father was the elder, and the male lead was the younger. The two brothers were over a decade apart in age.

Originally, the head of the family had been the male lead’s eldest brother, but over a decade ago, he was assassinated. At the time, Pei Jiayou was still young, so the position of family head fell to the male lead. Under the male lead’s indulgence, Pei Jiayou, as his nephew, got whatever he wanted—wind when he asked for wind, rain when he asked for rain. Spoiled to the extreme, he grew into a reckless, good-for-nothing playboy. After the male lead achieved success and fame, Pei Jiayou was exiled overseas for his mistakes and was never heard from again.

Recalling this, a flicker of disdain passed through Lu Wanmian’s eyes. He was nothing more than a spoiled rich kid—only someone as thoughtless as Lu Ruoruo would like him.

Lu Wanmian’s gaze shifted, and she feigned interest, saying, “Oh, is that so? Then you’d better keep a close eye on him, or else I might just steal your good friend away.”
