It was a wooden cart, with some boxes placed on top.
And a... moving thing!
"Sister Grace, hold this up high and follow me. Elena, take Ethan and return to the Tribe to wait for us."
Emily took the torch from Ethan and handed it to Grace, while she herself raised her bow and arrow, ready to attack at any moment.
The two cautiously walked up to the cart and discovered that the moving thing was actually a person!
A young woman was tied up tightly, her mouth stuffed with a piece of dirty cloth, unable to make the slightest sound.
There were clearly visible tear tracks on her cheeks. Her clothes were surprisingly intact, a green windbreaker.
"It’s actually a person!" Emily lowered the bow and arrow in her hand and, at the same time, glanced at the box next to the young woman.
Two ordinary item boxes and one Silver Treasure Chest!
They struck it rich!
This cart would also be useful; transporting goods would be much more convenient.
Emily and Grace pushed the cart back to the Tribe together.
Everyone was curious about the young woman’s identity.
Ethan called two girls over to help untie her, while Emily cautiously kept her bow and arrow raised, just in case.
What if it was a Goblin trick?
The dirty cloth was removed from the woman’s mouth, and she burst into loud sobs. "I finally... I finally see my compatriots again."
"Stop crying!" Emily reprimanded her.
Seeing the weapon in Emily’s hand, the woman’s weeping stopped abruptly.
When she wasn’t crying, she was quite beautiful, with an oval face and large almond eyes. In terms of features, she could actually rival Elena.
"Who are you? What happened? Tell me everything you experienced."
The woman glanced at the fiercely burning campfire and the drinking water nearby. Her throat bobbed, and she weakly said, "I want a drink..."
Ethan:...
"Gulp, gulp, gulp."
The woman finished a 500 ml bottle of mineral water in just a few gulps.
Some of the other students felt a pang of sympathy; they could only drink half a bottle, yet this stranger drank a whole bottle.
After drinking, the woman regained her composure and said,
"My name is Emma, a sophomore majoring in English Literature at the University of Washington..."
Before she could finish speaking, a girl from the Tribe interrupted her.
"Emma! I know you! The campus beauty of the University of Washington. I saw your picture online. I was wondering why you looked a bit familiar."
"The University of Washington?" Ethan asked. "We are freshmen in the Nursing Department at Stanford University."
Seattle and Stanford were separated by over a thousand kilometers. How did Emma end up near them?
"Continue speaking. Don’t interrupt her."
"This morning, I arranged to go hiking with several classmates. I don’t know how, but my vision went black on the way, and I arrived in this world."
Everyone sat around the campfire listening to Emma recount her experience.
Emma stretched her hands forward, and the flames gradually stopped her hands from feeling cold.
"There were only 7 of us. A voice said it would awaken our Talents and let us choose a Chieftain. But as soon as we chose a Chieftain... those green-skinned monsters appeared. They killed all my classmates..."
"Why didn’t they kill you?" Ethan asked.
He didn’t believe the Goblins killed everyone and only left her alive. If the Goblins were lustful, they could have dealt with her on the spot.
Why tie her up and transport her away?
"I... I don’t know."
Emma noticed dozens of eyes staring at her and became somewhat nervous. "They were originally going to kill me. I tried to use my Talent to control them, but it seemed useless. They seemed to have discovered my Talent, so they tied me up and said they were going to offer me to the Great King... to control the other Tribe..."
Everyone was stunned. Could it be done like that?
"Can you understand what the Goblins are saying? What is your Talent?" Ethan asked while grabbing Emma’s hand.
[SS-Rank Talent: Myriad Spirits (Special)]
Ethan frowned. Such a Talent existed?
But then he thought about it. If someone contracted a pig, and the time ran out without renewing the contract, what would happen to that pig? Would it turn on its master?
Emma was startled by Ethan’s action and trembled all over. But she was in a different territory; if she wanted to stay, she had to obey him. She even thought he was the Chieftain of this Tribe.
It was just grabbing her hand... Even if... there was nothing she could do; this must be fate.
"My Talent is the SS-Rank Myriad Spirits. I can communicate with animals and contract slightly weaker animals. As for stronger ones, like the Goblins, I cannot contract them, but I can understand what they say. Currently, I seem to be First Tier and can only contract one animal."
Ethan obtained Emma’s Talent information through More Wife More Blessing, which was consistent with what she said.
He nodded at Elena, who finally relaxed.
"Oh my God, another SS-Rank."
"She’s beautiful enough, and she’s SS-Rank too."
"Both campus beauties are SS-Rank. Our Tribe is too strong!"
Both campus beauties?
Emma turned her head to look at the woman next to Ethan, Elena.
She noticed that Elena was the cleanest person in the Tribe—literally clean.
The faces and bodies of the other girls had wood chips, dust, weeds, or other things on them to varying degrees, but Elena had none.
It seemed she was the most favored person in this Tribe.
Ethan took another look at Emma. It seemed their luck was truly good; the Tribe had gained another formidable member.
"Do you want to join our Tribe?" Ethan asked.
Emma nodded in surprise. She hadn’t held out any hope before, never expecting to meet other humans. Moreover, this group of people had actually wiped out a Goblin squad.
Joining them meant her immediate safety was guaranteed, at least for the time being.
Grace then took out the deed and recorded Emma’s fingerprint.
"Welcome to the Eden Garden Tribe."
When Emma saw Grace take out the deed, she finally realized that Grace was the Chieftain here, not Ethan.
She immediately became embarrassed by her mistake.
She then asked who Ethan was.
To which Grace replied, "Our treasure."
Emily replied, "A pervert."
And Elena replied, "The man of this Tribe."
Hearing the different answers from everyone, she felt a little confused.
Grace then explained that he was the only single man in their Tribe, so he was the most important person, especially if they needed to grow their population. She also explained that he had awakened the SSS-Rank Talent, More Wife More Blessing.
"So, here he doesn’t need to do any work except using his Talent."
Then Emily said, "In the end, he’s still a pervert. Under the excuse of his Talent, many girls have already fallen into his arms."
Elena quickly protested, saying, "Aunt, Ethan is a good guy."
But Emily only chuckled, not caring about her comment. Of course, how could she believe he was a good guy? Since he has taken her virginity by saying it was a mistake.
After learning Emma possessed an SS-Rank Talent, all the girls welcomed her warmly.
The sky was about to darken. The Tribe’s bonfire burned fiercely, and a dozen classmates gathered the spoils into a pile.
[Ox Hide Armor × 15]
[Fine-Quality Beef Hide Armor × 1]
[Goblin Club × 12]
[Silver Treasure Chest × 2]
[Red Tree Fruit × 165]
[Fine-Grade Beef Leg × 1]
[Wooden Cart × 1]
Grace immediately performed a resource doubling, resulting in a twofold increase.
The other classmates were used to it, but the newly joined Emma stared with wide eyes at the pile of items that had appeared out of thin air, her small mouth hanging open for a long time.
"That’s too amazing."
Elena carried the treasure chests over to Grace and asked, "Shall we open the treasure chests?"
Before crossing over, she had always loved opening blind boxes; perhaps this was one of the reasons she awakened Divination.
Grace looked at the two Silver Treasure Chests, above which a line of small text floated.
[Silver Treasure Chest: Has a chance to obtain Fine-grade or even Excellent-quality items.]
She then looked toward Ethan. Ethan understood and opened both simultaneously!
[Fine-Grade Wooden Storage Box Blueprint]
[Excellent Treasure Chest to Storage Conversion Blueprint]
[Compressed Biscuit × 3]
[Wooden Bathtub × 1]
[Charcoal × 10]
The two treasure chests only yielded five items.
But they managed to draw two blueprints.
"If we have storage boxes, can we store all these supplies?" Elena excitedly pointed to the large amount of supplies around them.
"Very likely."
Ethan immediately took the blueprints to the forging table to learn them.
[Learned: Wooden Storage Box: Crafting consumes 50 wood material, takes 4 hours to craft one. Can store 3 item slots. Items in each slot can be stacked, up to 100 units per slot.]
[Learned: Treasure Chest to Storage Conversion: Crafting consumes one Treasure Chest, takes 12 hours to craft one. Can convert an empty Treasure Chest into the corresponding Storage Box.]
"Good stuff." Ethan wanted to craft a Wooden Storage Box immediately.
But Grace stopped him. "The forging table can only craft one item at a time currently. The sky is about to get dark, and 4 hours is too long. It’s better to use the Silver Treasure Chest to craft a Silver Storage Box first. By the time we wake up tomorrow, it should be done."
Ethan nodded.
He took an empty Silver Treasure Chest, placed it next to the forging table, selected [Treasure Chest to Storage Conversion] on the table, and the Silver Treasure Chest was enveloped in a ball of light, merging into the forging table. A timer was counting down above it: 11:59:58.
"If you didn’t eat enough tonight, you can eat the wild fruit and beef now. Eat to your heart’s content tonight," Grace said generously after finishing her task and returning to the bonfire. "To celebrate our victory, and to celebrate our new member joining."
Emma blushed slightly when she heard they were celebrating because of her joining.
The other girls, however, were unusually excited.
"Thank you, Chief."
"The Chief’s great kindness can only be repaid by offering ourselves."
"But Chief is already a girl, so offering ourselves is out."
"Yes, instead we should offer ourselves to the Chief’s attendant."
"Yes, we are all the Chief’s attendant wives~"
Hearing this, Grace didn’t know what to say. How did the girls’ logic work here?
She looked at Ethan, who was hearing all of this without even the slightest bit of shyness.
She then agreed with Emily’s words and decided he was indeed a pervert.
She calmed everyone down and told them to eat their fill. Then she looked toward Jessica, who hadn’t said a single word after arriving here except for helping Emily.
