Not knowing what Bai Zhou liked to eat, Fu Linchen simply bought a bit of everything, so much that by the time he arrived, both hands were full with four big shopping bags.

The moment he stepped through the door, he shoved all the bags into Chi Shuyi’s arms, freeing his hands to greet Bai Zhou with a bright smile.

Without waiting for an invitation, he even helped himself to a pair of disposable slippers by the entrance, slipping them on like he lived there. Slinging an arm naturally around Bai Zhou’s shoulders, he grinned at Chi Shuyi.Full novel: Cannon fodder accidentally became a heartthrob [Quick Wear] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“What are you standing at the door for, silly? Come on in!”

Chi Shuyi’s lips curved, but his smile didn’t reach his eyes, “President Fu, you really don’t see yourself as an outsider, do you?”

Fu Linchen pretended not to hear the sarcasm in his tone and waved his hand dismissively, “Now, now, calling me that is what really makes us outsiders.”

Bai Zhou’s eyes brightened instantly. Xiao Chi! So in just one week of his absence, had the relationship between the two male leads advanced this far already?!

The two so called “deeply affectionate” men exchanged a silent glance and promptly rolled their eyes in perfect sync.

When Chi Shuyi went to wash vegetables, Bai Zhou eagerly volunteered to help. Seeing that, Fu Linchen followed suit.

As Bai Zhou washed the peas, his eyes darted left and right. After a moment, he discreetly set down the colander, intending to slip out and leave the two of them alone but before he could take two steps, Fu Linchen caught him by the arm.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m going to the living room to hang out with my roommates,” Bai Zhou said, pulling out an excuse he’d already prepared.

“Then I’ll go with you.” Fu Linchen immediately started following.

But Bai Zhou pushed him back toward the kitchen.

“Zhouzhou, President Fu must be used to having people wait on him,” Chi Shuyi said mildly. “You shouldn’t trouble him with this sort of thing.”

Fu Linchen shot him a strange look, surprised that Chi Shuyi, of all people, was defending him but then noticed Bai Zhou’s frown of disapproval.

“That won’t do,” Bai Zhou said earnestly, “In a home, everyone should help out! How can you be lazier than me?”

“I… I’m not lazy.”

Fu Linchen’s jaw clenched. He knew it! Chi Shuyi was up to no good again!

“I’m not going anywhere until these vegetables are done!” Fu Linchen declared, tying on an apron like he was preparing to do battle.

Satisfied, Bai Zhou turned back to Chi Shuyi. His expression softened, but he couldn’t help worrying again. Chi Shuyi’s temperament was so gentle, what if he got bullied later?

Thinking that, Bai Zhou who prided himself on his fiery temper, leaned close and whispered earnestly into Chi Shuyi’s ear, “Don’t spoil him too much, okay?”

Chi Shuyi: …

Something felt off, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. He was just about to ask Bai Zhou what he meant when he noticed Fu Linchen not far away, tilting his head toward them, clearly eavesdropping. Chi Shuyi only smiled faintly and said nothing.

A sharp crack sounded.

Fu Linchen stared down at the broken carrot in his hand, his expression blank, “Sorry,” he said tonelessly, “Didn’t mean to interrupt your conversation.”

Before leaving the kitchen, Bai Zhou shot Chi Shuyi a look he thought was subtle, only for another sharp crack to follow behind him.

Bai Zhou sighed. He really doesn’t do housework often, does he? Clumsy to the core. When he washed vegetables, he never broke anything.

“Bai Zhou, you’re out! Want to play a round?” Tang Mingyuan called from the sofa, “We’ve got four people, let’s find one more and queue up for five-man ranks!”

“Sure!” Bai Zhou grinned. It had been a long time since he’d played games; his fingers were itching.

Fu LinYi looked up and silently scooted over, leaving space for him.

Bai Zhou sat down beside him and followed Tang Mingyuan’s instructions to download the popular 5v5 tower-pushing game of this world.

“What role do you play, Bai Zhou?” Tang asked.

In his past life, Bai Zhou always solo-queued, favoring mages, marksmen, and junglers, anything with high damage.

But since this world’s version of the game was new to him and the heroes unfamiliar, he reluctantly gave up on damage roles.

“I’ll support something simple. I’ll just follow you guys and learn.”

“Perfect! I’ll jungle, Chen Feng can mid, Fu-ge can ADC. Then we just need one solo laner,” Tang said.

Bai Zhou nodded.

Their lobby filled quickly, and soon the match began. Bai Zhou, recalling his past gaming instincts, followed behind the mage until Chen Feng groaned, “Supports are supposed to follow the ADC. You don’t even know that?”

“Sorry!” Bai Zhou spun around and hurried over to Fu Linyi’s lane.

Chen Feng opened his mouth, but in the end, swallowed whatever he wanted to say.

As it turned out, being a support wasn’t as easy as it looked. Bai Zhou’s hero specialized in reviving teammates, but he always mistimed the skill, managing to play the entire match without ever landing it successfully.

Worse, his damage-player instincts kicked in. Several times during team fights, he abandoned Fu Linyi to go 1v1 opponents. If Fu Linzhi hadn’t rushed all the way from bot lane to save him, Bai Zhou would’ve died multiple times.

By the end of the match, Fu Linyi had spent the entire game protecting him. They won but Bai Zhou still felt frustrated and stifled.

“Next round, you play marksman. I’ll support you,” Fu Linyi offered.

“Huh? But Bai Zhou just learned how to play!” Tang Mingyuan protested.

Chen Feng cut in quietly, “It’s just for fun. Winning doesn’t matter.”

Then he turned his face away, pretending the words hadn’t come from him.

This time, Bai Zhou finally got to play his favorite role, the marksman. Though the hero mechanics were a little different from what he remembered, the overall feel was close enough.

With Fu Linyi by his side, Bai Zhou scored two kills early, and his confidence soared.

“Charge! Let’s take their second tower in one go!” he yelled, pushing forward recklessly with his little in game pistol firing nonstop.

Fu Linyi’s character followed steadily behind.

Halfway through taking the tower, the enemy mid laner suddenly rotated over, stunning Bai Zhou on the spot. His heart dropped, he frantically pushed Fu Linyi away, “Run!”

But a second later, Fu Linyi’s revived skill landed perfectly on him. Flashing forward, Fu Linyi stunned the enemy mage, “Kill it.”

Bai Zhou reacted instantly, unleashing a barrage of bullets. The enemy fell in seconds.

“Ahhhh! Fu Linyi, you’re amazing!” Bai Zhou shouted in delight.

Fu Linyi only smiled faintly, making his in-game avatar do a victory pose.

The rest of the match, the two stuck together like conjoined twins. Under Fu Linyi’s protection, Bai Zhou carried the game and earned MVP.

“Let’s go again!” Bai Zhou said, eyes sparkling.

But Fu Linyi canceled the queue, “I’m going to the bathroom.”

“Hurry back,” Bai Zhou said, giving him a push.

Instead of moving, Fu Linyi turned his head, “Aren’t you coming with me?”

“Why would I? You’re the one who needs the bathroom.”

“I don’t know where it is. Take me.”

Bai Zhou sighed and got up. After leading him to the first-floor bathroom, he was about to return to the living room, when Fu Linyi suddenly grabbed him and pulled him inside.

“Bai Zhou,” his low, husky voice brushed against Bai Zhou’s ear, “I’ve been very obedient today.”

His breath was warm; his tongue traced lightly along the curve of Bai Zhou’s earlobe, making the boy tremble and instinctively shove him away.

“Obedient? In what world?!” Bai Zhou hissed, rubbing his ear. If they weren’t in someone else’s house, he would’ve called him a pervert to his face.

“I didn’t stop you when you went out with Chi Shuyi. I didn’t interrupt you in the kitchen. I just sat quietly in the living room waiting for you.”

As he spoke, Fu Linyi caught Bai Zhou’s hand, sounding so aggrieved it almost seemed pitiful.

When Bai Zhou didn’t hit him, he edged closer again, wrapping him in a tight embrace and resting his head against Bai Zhou’s neck, rubbing against his skin.

When Bai Zhou tried to push him away, Fu Linyi caught his hand and kissed it.

“Enough! If you’re not going to the bathroom, go back!” Bai Zhou snapped, stepping back, only for Fu Linyi to follow, boneless and stubborn.

“I don’t want to.”

“Then what do you want?”

“Kiss me.”

“I don’t want to.” Bai Zhou refused instantly.

Fu Linyi pinched his fingers, unwilling to give up, “But I’ve been so good. Don’t I get a reward?”

Bai Zhou opened his mouth to scold him but then paused as a mischievous idea flashed through his mind.

“Oh, you’re right. I’m terrible. Go ahead, tell me.”

Fu Linyi blinked, “…What?”

“Go! Tell your brother I’m a manipulative little flirt, always trying to seduce! mmmph!”

The rest of his words were swallowed by a kiss.

Fu Linyi kissed him hard, with a kind of desperate intensity. When Bai Zhou bit him, he bit back, not enough to hurt, just enough to press close, to taste, to claim.

When Bai Zhou finally ran out of breath, Fu Linyi let him go, only to plant several quick pecks along his lips again, then stood there quietly, waiting for the slap he knew was coming.

“Fu Linyi! You shameless!” Bai Zhou’s lips were red, his breath uneven.

Fu Linyi only licked the place where Bai Zhou had bitten him, eyes dark and unreadable.

“I’m giving you one last chance,” Bai Zhou said through clenched teeth, “Go report me.”

“I don’t want to.”

“You!”

Before he could explode again, Fu Linyi pulled him into another tight hug. His voice was muffled against Bai Zhou’s shoulder but perfectly clear.

“You’re the best,” he murmured, “My perfect little baby.”

Ha. As if.

If only this lust drunk fool could see how bad he really was.

Bai Zhou snorted coldly but, in the end, allowed the embrace.

When they finally walked out, Fu Linyi’s entire face radiated springtime joy, while Bai Zhou stomped ahead with a flushed face and slightly swollen, glistening lips, completely oblivious.

After a few steps, he turned back, said something sharply to Fu Linyi, who nodded obediently, looking like the picture of repentance.

Tang Mingyuan’s heart nearly stopped. He hasn’t even figured out if Bai Zhou’s gay, and Fu Linyi’s already speedrunning to the final boss?!

Chen Feng glanced up, then down again, saying nothing but his expression was complicated.

And when Chi Shuyi came out from the kitchen with Fu Linchen right behind him, both men’s faces changed.

Chi Shuyi’s usual gentle smile vanished completely, replaced by cold sharpness as he met Fu Linyi’s provocatively amused eyes.

Fu Linchen’s jaw tightened. Just thinking about how he had been the one cared for first made his teeth ache with fury.

You could guard against everything but never against the thief within your own home.
