After hanging up the phone, Chi Shuyi took out some eggs and noodles and went back to the kitchen.
Seeing him return, Bai Zhou proudly placed the chopped tomatoes in front of him.
“They’re cut really nicely, so neat.”
Chi Shuyi didn’t hold back his praise as he poured the tomatoes into the pot. He turned his head with a teasing smile, “I’m definitely eating all the tomatoes today.”
Bai Zhou blushed slightly from the compliment and stammered back, “Looks like you cook pretty well too. I’ll make sure to finish all my noodles.”
Tomato and egg noodles didn’t take long to cook. Before long, the two of them were sitting at the dining table, each holding a steaming bowl.
“This tastes so good!” Bai Zhou gave an enthusiastic thumbs up.
Seeing that, Chi Shuyi also raised his thumb and lightly poked it against Bai Zhou’s thumb, like stamping a tiny seal.
“It really does taste great.”

Bai Zhou thought Chi Shuyi was offering to help take the bowl away, so he handed it over without hesitation.
To his surprise, Chi Shuyi simply took the bowl and finished the rest of the noodles himself in a few quick bites.

After cleaning the bowl, Chi Shuyi paused, feeling Bai Zhou’s strange and conflicted gaze. He casually reached out to ruffle the boy’s hair and said, “Waste is shameful.”
Bai Zhou blinked, watching as Chi Shuyi tidied the table and went to wash the dishes. He could only sigh inwardly, the main shou really was perfect.

“Could you… help me take this off too?” Bai Zhou asked, cheeks flushed. His clear eyes darted away nervously as he bit his soft lips, leaving faint teeth marks.
He lifted his leg slightly, showing the golden band around his ankle, thick, more like a shackle than jewelry.
Chi Shuyi said nothing. He simply knelt down on one knee in front of Bo Zhou and held his pale ankle.
The boy’s bones were delicate and well-defined, the lines smooth and graceful, his soft skin tempting under the touch.
Chi Shuyi’s thumb brushed over it lightly, the sensation almost addictive.
Bo Zhou inhaled sharply, face turning red. He raised his hand and “flirtatiously” brushed his fingers against Chi Shuyi’s cheek.
A faint scent drifted over. Chi Shuyi’s Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed hard, suppressing the urge to lean forward and taste the sweetness right in front of him.
The boy’s soft hand slid across his cheek, and Chi Shuyi’s gaze burned hotter. He accidentally pressed harder on the metal ring.
“Ah!” Bai Zhou gasped from the dull pain and immediately withdrew his hand. He’d gone too far. He must have angered the shou now.
“…Sorry.” Chi Shuyi’s voice was low and hoarse. His breath, fanning across Bai Zhou’s ankle, was scalding hot. His knee shifted slightly inward, as if to hide something.
He didn’t delay any further, quickly unfastening the anklet and handing it back before standing up and retreating to his room without a word. His back looked flustered, almost panicked.

“It’s fine, I’ve got time,” Chi Shuyi said cheerfully, “We’re already here.”
Bai Zhou followed him up, praying his instincts were wrong.

The moment the door opened, he saw that familiar figure, black hair, tall frame, and those hands he’d once held.
