Sеeing her hаppinеss, thе соrners оf Mо Tingyаn’s liрs liftеd in аn аlmost imрerceрtiblе сurvе. Нe raised his hаnd аnd gеntly рattеd her baсk.

Wеn Zhi rеаlized she hаd gоtten a bit tоo cаrriеd аwаy. It hаd bеen many years sincе she hаd lеt hеr еmоtions shоw so opеnly—this wаs so unlikе her.

Shе immediately reined in her emotions, took a step back to break free from Mo Tingyan’s embrace, and turned to face Huo Ze, regaining her usual composure. “President Huo, we won. I hope you’ll keep your word.”

Huo Ze shifted his gaze from Mo Tingyan’s face to the beautiful Wen Zhi and calmly replied, “Don’t worry, I always keep my promises. This Captain Mo… Jianghang Airlines will keep him.”

Wen Zhi let out a heavy sigh of relief, feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted from her chest.

To prevent the other party from changing their mind, Wen Zhi immediately pulled Mo Tingyan along, thanked Huo Ze, and left the club.

Once they returned home, Wen Zhi was about to tell Mo Tingyan that she was tired and wanted to rest first, but he had already scooped her up in his arms, carried her straight into the study, and placed her on the desk. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered seductively, “Zhangzhu, thanks to you today, I kept my job. To express my gratitude, I must offer myself to you.”

Wen Zhi pushed against his shoulder, exasperated. “Stop fooling around. I’m a bit tired and want to—”

“Hey,” Mo Tingyan interrupted her seriously, “You don’t have to move. We already agreed—today we’re trying out a new position on the pool table. Just sit tight and leave the heavy lifting to me.”

Wen Zhi: “…”

Who agreed to that with him?

Before she could respond, Mo Tingyan had already leaned in and kissed her, catching her completely off guard…

Wen Zhi was truly defeated by this man’s boundless energy. Just as she was being stirred into a feverish state, her phone suddenly rang.

Instantly sobering up a bit, she pressed her hand against Mo Tingyan’s shoulder and called for a stop.

Mo Tingyan buried his face in the crook of her neck and let out a heavy sigh. “Who’s so annoying, interrupting our newlywed studies?”

Ignoring him, Wen Zhi pulled out her phone and glanced at the screen.

Seeing that it was her father calling, she casually answered and held the phone to her ear without speaking.

Mo Tingyan caught sight of the name on the screen and paused his movements, sitting down beside her instead.

From the other end of the line came a deep, displeased middle-aged voice, tinged with accusation. “Wen Zhi, your aunt says you’ve found a rich man who bought you four million yuan worth of jewelry? Who is this person?”

Wen Zhi sneered inwardly. So it was about this. She remained silent.

The voice on the phone grew even colder. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t say. Listen, I’m only calling to tell you two things today. First, your sister is already with the second young master of the Mo family. Everything she’s doing is for the sake of our Wen family’s development. You’d better not cause trouble for her. Second, President Jin is very satisfied with you. If this man you’ve found can’t help the Wen family, I absolutely will not allow you to marry him. I—”

Wen Zhi couldn’t listen any longer. Her own affairs were not for others to decide.

She hung up the phone directly, cutting off the noise from the other end.She sat at the desk, a hint of barely concealed gloom flickering in her eyes.

Seeing her visibly worsened complexion, Mo Tingyan gazed at her for a moment before raising his hand to gently tousle the back of her head. With a lazy, carefree smile, he said, “Shall we have a drink first to celebrate?”

Wen Zhi looked at him, her dark pupils shifting slightly, and nodded readily. “Sure.”

As it happened, she was feeling troubled and wanted a drink too.

Neither of them brought up continuing what they had been discussing earlier. Instead, they left the study together.

Mo Tingyan took a few chilled beers from the refrigerator, and the two of them made their way to the balcony, sitting on opposite sides of a small round table.

Wen Zhi opened a can for herself, tilted her head back to gaze at the night sky outside the window, and took a couple of sips alone. The refreshing coolness that seeped into her heart calmed her agitated mood considerably.

Mo Tingyan clinked his can against hers and chuckled softly. “I heard everything your father said earlier. He’s no good, and it’s only natural for you to resent him and not love him. But you don’t have to be too pessimistic. There are always people in this world worth caring about, people who can lift your spirits.”

Are there?

Wen Zhi remained silent for a moment, her eyes still fixed on the night sky, before shaking her head faintly. “No, there aren’t.”

Mo Tingyan looked at her, hesitated briefly, and said, “Your mother and your other relatives…”

Wen Zhi tightened her grip on the beer can and interrupted in a low voice, “They’re all dead.”

Mo Tingyan, of course, knew this. He turned to face her directly and continued, “What I mean is, even though they’re gone, they’re still worth caring about. They can—”

Not wanting to dwell on the topic any longer, Wen Zhi withdrew her gaze from the sky and turned to meet his eyes. Instead, she asked, “What about you? Is there anyone in this world you care about?”

Caught off guard by her sudden question, Mo Tingyan fell silent for a moment as well.

The two of them locked eyes for a full half-minute.

Just as Wen Zhi thought Mo Tingyan wouldn’t answer and was about to look away, she heard him say slowly, “Yes, there is a girl… I owe her a great deal. She’s the only person in this world I truly care about.”

A white moonlight?

This was the first time since meeting Mo Tingyan a few days ago that Wen Zhi had seen him look so serious.

So even the most carefree and unrestrained man couldn’t escape the fate of a white moonlight.

She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of girl could make a playboy so earnest.

But then she remembered that her marriage to Mo Tingyan was ultimately just a partnership for convenience. His affairs had nothing to do with her, and she shouldn’t be curious. So she reined in her curiosity.

She nodded, set down the now-empty beer can, and stood up, saying calmly, “That’s good. It’s better to have a heart than to be heartless. It’s getting late, and I’ve had a busy day. I’m a bit tired and would like to go to bed. I have work tomorrow.”

With that, she turned to leave, but Mo Tingyan reached out and grasped her wrist, turning to look at her with a teasing smile curling at the corner of his lips. “Are you jealous?”

Wen Zhi: “…”

“You’re overthinking it. We’re just living together for convenience. I won’t interfere in your private affairs, nor will I pry into the secrets in your heart. I’m genuinely a bit tired and just want to rest,” she said, pulling her wrist free from his grasp. “You should get some rest too. Goodnight.”

With that, she headed straight to her room.Mo Tingyan did not try to keep her any longer, merely sitting where he was, watching Wen Zhi’s receding figure. The lazy glint in his eyes from moments ago had now grown increasingly profound…
