Henry began to blame himself. “It’s all my fault. I didn’t take good care of the Marshal.”

As soon as Henry started blaming himself, Wang Han, the “culprit” behind Marshal Wei Qing’s collapse, also began to feel guilty.

“What should we do now? The wedding can’t go on without the groom, can it?” Henry asked Wang Han.Full novel: Catnip Omega of Cheetah Marshal — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wang Han plopped down onto a chair, quickly took a deep sniff of snuff to clear his head, and said, “You go pick up the young master of the Zhou family. The wedding will be held here at my place.”

Henry’s mouth fell open in surprise, “Huh?”

With his hands clasped behind his back, Wang Han paced the study and said, “You’ll explain to the Zhou family that Wei Qing fainted, so the ceremony will be postponed. As for outsiders…”

“Just say that I, out of affection for my junior, want to personally witness their wedding. But since my legs aren’t in good shape, the ceremony will take place in my own hall.”

Henry nodded, “Understood.”

Wang Han then called for his butler. “Old He, bring your grandson’s anti-allergy serum and inject it into Marshal Wei Qing. Also, mobilize everyone immediately to prepare the hall.”

“Make it look like a proper wedding venue. Oh, and I don’t like random people wandering into my home. Screen the guests and media carefully before letting them in.”

The butler, Old He, nodded repeatedly, “Yes, sir.”

Wang Han truly lived up to his reputation as a retired Marshal of the Tyron Empire, even now, giving orders carried the air of command from his old days.

Seeing that, Henry felt a little calmer.

Just then, someone tugged on his sleeve.

Henry looked down and met the open, alert eyes of his own Marshal. Those emerald green eyes were perfectly clear, not a hint of unconsciousness in them.

The Marshal was pretending!

Henry quickly glanced at the old Marshal Wang Han, who was still busy instructing his butler and hadn’t noticed anything.

Wei Qing gestured toward the door, signaling for Henry to help him leave.

The situation was urgent, so Henry had no choice but to go along. He nodded slightly.

When Wang Han finished giving orders, he came over to Henry. “I’ll look after Wei Qing. You go pick up the Zhou family’s young master.”

Henry immediately felt a pang of guilt. He gave an awkward laugh, “Old Marshal Wang, I suddenly feel… maybe the wedding isn’t such an urgent matter after all.”

He grabbed Wei Qing’s hand, slung the man’s arm over his own shoulder, and started to move toward the door.

“We’d better not trouble you… Once we get him into the aircraft, he might wake up any moment, haha.. ”

“Eh?! hold on,” Wang Han blocked their way. “I’m the one who caused this. I’ll take responsibility.”

Henry grimaced. “Ah… Old Marshal Wang, really, there’s no need for you…”

“What? You think I’m just a useless old man now?” Wang Han snapped, his pride instantly provoked.

“No, no, that’s not what I meant.”

“Then what are you hesitating for? Go pick him up already! This is a wedding we’re talking about, of course! it’s urgent. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him.”

Wang Han pulled Wei Qing’s other arm onto his own shoulder.

“I… you… he…” Henry stammered helplessly.

“What are you mumbling about? Stop dithering! Go!” Wang Han barked.

“…All right.”

Looking utterly depressed, Henry trudged back to his aircraft, letting out a long sigh, “What kind of mess is this?”

After Henry left, Wang Han hoisted Wei Qing and dumped him back onto the chair, the back of Wei Qing’s head smacked against the armrest with a thud.

It hurt.

Clutching the snuff bottle tightly, Wei Qing endured the pain for its sake.

Then Wang Han called for “Old He! Old He!” and hurriedly left the room.

Wei Qing opened his eyes and stared at the study ceiling, rubbing the sore spot on his head.

That old man had been cared for all his life but he had no idea how to take care of others, not a gentle bone in his body. He had come to see Wang Han earlier only to ask for a new snuff bottle.

In this world, the air was full of pheromones. In enclosed spaces or crowded places, like a wedding hall, the mix of scents was overwhelming.

Wei Qing had a keen sense of smell, and too many scents made him nauseous.

He used to wear an activated carbon mask, but ever since discovering snuff, he’d started using it to dull his sense of smell.

But today, the old man’s first words to him had been that he’d never give him another snuff bottle. So Wei Qing had to take a detour and think of another way.

When the old man insisted he inhale some snuff, Wei Qing saw his chance. He had indeed fainted for a moment after inhaling it, an awful experience.

Then, just as he was about to open his eyes, Henry’s panicked voice rang out.

After that, Henry and Wang Han had their whole conversation and before he knew it, the wedding had been rescheduled to Wang Han’s place.

Seeing no way to intervene, Wei Qing decided to keep pretending.

He knew Wang Han’s temper. If he opened his eyes now, the old man would definitely think he’d been faking it and would even confiscate the snuff bottle.

All his effort would have been wasted.

Carefully, Wei Qing slipped the snuff bottle into his pocket. He scratched at the red rash on his hand and muttered regretfully, “Shouldn’t have thrown the last one away just for fun…”

At the same time, Zhou Mo leaned against a quiet wall in a hallway by the wedding hall, his expression grave.

He was about to light a cigarette when Zhou Younan approached from the other end, dressed in formal wear.

“Are you sure you don’t want to style your hair? The stylist might be able to hide… your forehead,” Zhou Mo suggested.

Zhou Younan shook his head. “No, it’s fine as it is.”

“Alright then.” Zhou Mo didn’t insist.

“My forehead, was it always like this since I was a kid?”

“No, you didn’t have it when you were little.” Zhou Mo paused. “I think it was from that accident.”

“So it was that accident.” Zhou Younan brushed back his black bangs and asked, “Brother, you don’t look so good. Did something happen?”

Zhou Mo gave a bitter laugh. “Some of the guests didn’t show up. Lance sent invitations to everyone on my list, but most of them went to his ball instead.”

“Wei Qing didn’t send any invitations at all. They only realized the wedding was happening when they saw the livestream, through the comments.”

Zhou Younan hummed in response and comforted him. “It’s alright, Brother.”

“As long as you can take it lightly, that’s good. Has Wei Qing arrived yet?”

“Not sure.”

Then Zhou Younan’s terminal chimed, a call from Henry Gray.

Henry briefly explained the current situation and Old Marshal Wang Han’s new arrangement.

“The ceremony’s being moved to the afternoon as well?” Zhou Mo asked.

Zhou Younan turned to introduce him, “This is my older brother, Zhou Mo.”

Henry replied politely, “Yes, please forgive the sudden change.”

“What about the guests?” Zhou Mo asked.

“Please send me the guest list. Old Marshal Wang Han wants to screen them personally.”

After the call ended, the gloom that had lingered on Zhou Mo’s face vanished. He suddenly let out a low laugh, like something amusing had just come to mind.

“Brother, what are you laughing at?” Zhou Younan asked.

“Who would’ve thought Wei Qing was allergic to chocolate? Now that’s unexpected.” Zhou Mo ruffled his brother’s hair, smiling, “But his fainting spell might actually work in your favor.”

“Old Marshal Wang Han is highly respected, a hero of the older generation. Having the wedding held in his home will make outsiders think he’s standing behind you.”

Zhou Younan gave a faint “oh.” In his mind, though, he thought to himself, ‘No matter where the wedding takes place, that capsule, I’m still going to make Wei Qing swallow it’

(T/N; if anyone feeling lost, Zhou Younan is talking about medication developed by lab that can make alpha infatuated to omega)

After receiving two anti-allergy injections, Wei Qing opened his eyes just as Butler He prepared to give him a third.

Old He beamed. “Marshal, you’re awake! That’s good, very good. In about an hour, the rashes on your body will disappear.”

Wei Qing pretended to be confusion, “What… happened to me?”

“What happened? Aren’t you supposed to have a sensitive nose? You couldn’t tell that the snuff I gave you was cocoa powder?” Wang Han scolded.

Of course Wei Qing had known. He gave a bitter smile, “I thought just a little wouldn’t hurt.”

Soft-hearted as he was, Wang Han immediately melted. Knowing Wei Qing’s greedy nature, he couldn’t bring himself to scold him further, “You’re an adult, still so gluttonous! Serves you right for fainting!”

With his hands clasped behind his back, Wang Han went out, told a servant to bring Wei Qing some water and then informed him of the wedding arrangements.

Wei Qing gave his consent.

Time flew by, and soon it was 1:30 p.m. almost time for the wedding.

Wang Han called Wei Qing over and personally straightened the Marshal’s military uniform. “I just met the Zhou family’s young master. He’s quite a good kid.”

Wei Qing only raised an eyebrow, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

Seeing that the rashes on Wei Qing’s hands had faded, Wang Han finally felt relieved.

Stroking his beard, he said, “A groom can’t walk around covered in rashes, it’d be a joke. You look much better now. You remind me of how I looked on my wedding day.”

Wei Qing chuckled. “Oh? You’ve been married three times too?”

Wang Han froze, caught off guard. “No! I mean, no! I’ve only been married once. My wife and I were childhood sweethearts! well-matched, devoted, and in love.”

Wei Qing smiled wickedly. “My spouse and I met as strangers, were wed by imperial decree, and shared the same bed but different dreams.”

Wang Han, who knew roughly what had happened with Wei Qing’s two previous spouses, patted him on the shoulder. “A man has to look forward, what if this one turns out to be someone who truly suits you? There’s a saying, ‘love grows with time.’”

Wei Qing gave a self-mocking smile. “I don’t believe in that. I only believe in love at first sight.”

He wheeled the “mobility-impaired, wheelchair-bound” Wang Han into the hall. After offering a few words of thanks to the guests, he took a glass of wine and began chatting with another general who had just arrived from the army, Su Xi.

Su Xi was a female Alpha with neat, ear-length crimson hair. A key tattoo adorned the back of her right hand. Her features were delicate but her face was always cold, giving her an unapproachable air.

In a professional tone, she said, “Marshal, congratulations on your wedding.”

Wei Qing smiled faintly. “Heh.”

“The joint military exercise is scheduled for next week,” Su Xi said.

Wei Qing nodded slightly to show he was aware.

“I suspect Nabier might try something,” she added.

Wei Qing narrowed his eyes and chuckled, “Isn’t that what joint exercises are for, to stir things up?”

“Where’s Henry?”

“Old Wang said he’s over with the Zhou family.”

“I see.”

They’d barely exchanged a few sentences when one of Wang Han’s servants came over, inviting Wei Qing to the entrance. The Zhou family’s young master would be arriving shortly.

Wei Qing didn’t have much affection for his third spouse. The arrival of this Zhou heir had disrupted the emperor’s original plan and according to the reports, he had been an accomplice at Research Institute 411.

A cold glint flickered in Wei Qing’s green eyes. He loathed that institute and everyone who worked for it. Even its “accomplices.”

That was why he had made a habit of teasing and testing this Zhou heir, watching him struggle without lifting a finger to help.

Leaving his spot, Wei Qing walked over to a sofa in the corner and sat down, a mischievous thought crossing his mind that When the Zhou heir walks in and he don’t go to greet him, what will he do?

Will he panic? Tear up in embarrassment? Storm out in anger?

Whatever his reaction, it would surely be… entertaining.

With that, Wei Qing downed the rest of his wine in one gulp.

The hall was crowded, the mingled scents in the air thick and overwhelming. His nose started to itch with discomfort. He reached for his snuff bottle

“Now, please welcome the other groom to the stage!”

As Wang Han’s voice rang out, the tall, heavy doors of the hall swung open. Under the bright spotlight stood a slender figure dressed in a lavish, aristocratic outfit that looked completely out of place on him.

His black hair was long enough to cover his eyes.

Wei Qing raised an eyebrow, wondering wryly, Can he even see where he’s going like that?

So this is the Zhou family’s young master? He looks positively… Wei Qing was just about to think ridiculous

When a soft, intoxicating scent wafted through the air from that person.

The fragrance slipped into his nose, and Wei Qing’s pupils shrank sharply.

His heart thudded violently.

For a brief, uncontrollable moment, his body refused to obey him.

When he came back to his senses, the wine glass in his hand had shattered.

He drew a slow, shaky breath. Though faint, the aroma lingered among the other smells in the air, unmistakable yet rare.

It was his most favorite scent of all, CATNIP!
