Seeing Liang Bo throwing a tantrum at her doorstep, Song Yunlan immediately lifted her leg and kicked him flying three meters away.
“Who do you think you are? I need your forgiveness? You’re nothing! Stop coming here and acting crazy. Have you prepared the money you owe me?
Tomorrow is the last day. Before 6 p.m., I want to see the money. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”
“Ugh…”
Liang Bo curled up on the ground, staring at her in disbelief.
Why did Song Yunlan suddenly have so much strength?
Behind the tree, Shen Zhiyan, who had just been about to rush over, silently retreated again.
He touched his chest and thought to himself that from now on, he would absolutely never make his wife angry. If she told him to catch a dog, he would never chase a chicken.
Song Yunlan, however, had no idea someone was secretly watching from the shadows. She had wanted to beat Liang Bo for a long time; she just hadn’t had the chance since returning.
Now that he had delivered himself to her door, she naturally wouldn’t hold back. Old grudges and new anger together even if she couldn’t kill him immediately, she still had to collect some interest first.
“You… what are you going to do…”
Seeing her step by step approaching, Liang Bo shrank back in fear.
“What am I going to do?” Song Yunlan sneered. “Liang Bo, so you can be afraid too? Weren’t you very arrogant before? Even ordering me around?!”
Liang Bo shook his head desperately like a rattle drum. He truly regretted coming here.
“I didn’t… don’t come closer! I’m warning you ”
“You’re warning who?” Before he could finish, she kicked him again.
He collapsed once more, and at some point Song Yunlan had picked up a wooden stick from the ground.
“Ah!”
“I’ll beat you to death, you ungrateful wretch, scheming scoundrel! Drugging me! Bringing people to catch me in a trap! What do you think you are?!
If it weren’t for me, Song Yunlan, you would’ve starved to death after coming down to the countryside! And you still dare act so arrogant in front of me?!”
With every sentence, another blow landed on Liang Bo.
In the silent night, his screams echoed through the entire production brigade.
“Stop hitting me! I was wrong! Please spare me!”
No matter how Liang Bo begged, the blows kept falling again and again.
Until hurried footsteps sounded nearby.
Just as Song Yunlan was about to stop, a dark figure rushed over.
Looking closely it was Shen Zhiyan.
“Why are you here?” she asked in surprise.
“Don’t talk give me the stick!” he said urgently.
Confused, she handed it over.
As the footsteps grew closer, Shen Zhiyan swung the stick once more at Liang Bo.
“Zhiyan, stop!” someone shouted.
It was the brigade leader, Niu Dazhi, who had arrived with a group of people.
He frowned deeply upon seeing the scene.
“Zhiyan, what happened? Why are you fighting Liang the educated youth?”
Before Song Yunlan could explain, Shen Zhiyan stopped her and spoke first.
“Uncle Niu, you know Aunt Niu came today to propose our engagement. We’ve already set a date to register our marriage.
Tonight, I was heading home when I saw Liang Bo sneaking toward my fiancée’s courtyard, so I followed him.
I didn’t expect him to shamelessly demand that she go to you to reclaim the job position. When she refused, he tried to attack her.
To protect her, I stepped in and restrained him. I got carried away and lost control of my strength. I’ll pay for his medical expenses.”
Hearing this, Niu Dazhi nodded.
Given Liang Bo’s previous behavior, he believed it.
Since the educated youth caused trouble first, it wasn’t unreasonable that he got beaten.
He then announced the final decision about the job allocation: Song Yunlan was originally first, she voluntarily gave up, Liang Bo got it, but due to his misconduct and disgraceful behavior, the position would be passed to the third-ranked candidate. The decision had already been reported to the commune and could not be changed.
He ordered the crowd to disperse, had Liang Bo taken to the clinic, and gave him three days of leave for recovery and writing a self-criticism.
After everyone left, the courtyard returned to silence.
Song Yunlan turned to Shen Zhiyan.
“I was the one who beat him. Why did you take the blame?”
Shen Zhiyan gently rubbed her head.
“What difference does it make? Besides, I did hit him too.”
“But ”
“No buts. I just don’t want anyone linking you with Liang Bo again.”
He escorted her inside.
Seeing how fiercely she had just beaten someone, Song Yunlan hesitated and asked:
“Do you think I’m too fierce?”
Shen Zhiyan smiled.
“I’m only afraid you’re not fierce enough.”
He held her shoulders and looked into her eyes seriously.
“I’m actually very happy you can protect yourself. To me, nothing matters more than your safety.
Do you know how much I regret hesitating for even a moment and letting you deal with that scum yourself?
If I had arrived earlier, you wouldn’t have had to work so hard. I was even worried you might blame me.”
Song Yunlan smiled slightly.
“Blame you for what? For not trusting me? Or for hiding and watching the show?”
“I didn’t not trust you!” Shen Zhiyan quickly shook his head. “I wasn’t watching the show I was just worried about you.”
Afraid she might be angry, he gently held her hand, his eyes full of pleading.
“I promise I won’t do it again. Don’t be mad, okay?”
