Jian Ou’s muscles were tense all over. A trace of pain flashed in his eyes, but it quickly turned cold again. “Die? Others can touch you, but I can’t?”

As he spoke, his cold lips attacked again.

Pain shot through her lips, and a faint taste of blood spread in Su Wanqing’s mouth.Full novel: CEO, Enter My Game — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Pa—”

A loud slap landed on Jian Ou’s face, leaving him stunned on the spot.

Taking advantage of his distraction, Su Wanqing shoved him hard. This time, she managed to push him away.

Without his restraining force, Su Wanqing didn’t bother to see his reaction and immediately ran. But she was still a step too slow. Her waist tightened, her whole body lifted into the air, and she fell back into the arms of the person behind her.

The embrace behind her was warm, but the warmth only lasted a moment.

Jian Ou leaned close to her ear and whispered in an icy voice, “Stay away from Si Tu Jin, or I’ll make you taste what it’s like to wish you were dead.”

His fingers brushed over the cut at the corner of Su Wanqing’s lips, pressing down hard. She frowned, but he only smiled coldly.

Suddenly, he withdrew all his strength. Without support, Su Wanqing fell straight to the ground.

Pain spread from her tailbone. She turned her head, but Jian Ou had already walked away in big strides.

Su Wanqing sat on the cold floor for a long time. Only after her whole body turned cold did she slowly get up and walk toward her rented place.

Her body and mind were numb. Naturally, she didn’t notice the pair of gloomy eyes watching from the darkness.

After a while, Jian Shan Shan stepped out from the shadows. Hatred was obvious in her eyes, making her whole face look somewhat twisted.

“Su Wanqing, I won’t let you go. Never!”

Early in the morning, Su Wanqing stood at the counter listening to the store manager introduce the brand. Because of her insomnia, her complexion was pale, and the dark circles under her eyes were obvious.

Selling beer at night earned quite a bit, but compared to Wan Hong’s medical expenses, it was just a drop in the bucket. So Su Wanqing asked a friend to help her find another job — working as a cosmetics sales assistant in the mall.

“I’m telling you, our brand is the most high-end in the entire mall. So when you talk to customers, you must sound confident, got it?”

Store manager Zhou Lan walked around, her gaze landing on Su Wanqing’s face.

“Su Wanqing, what’s going on? Didn’t we tell you during training to put on proper makeup before starting work? Look at you, no energy at all. How are customers supposed to believe our brand is high-end when you look like this?”

“Sorry, Manager. I’ll go touch up my makeup right away.”

Su Wanqing froze for a moment and hurriedly turned around. A colleague behind her thoughtfully handed her a compact powder.

“Hmph, next time do your makeup at home. These products are for customers to test, not for you to touch up.”

The manager kept nagging, but Su Wanqing pretended not to hear. Playing deaf was something she had practiced for three years — she was already very skilled at it.

Finally, when the manager left, her colleague hurried over to help.

“Wanqing, don’t mind Manager Zhou. I think she’s just jealous that you’re prettier than her, that’s why she’s deliberately picking on you.”

Su Wanqing smiled at Li Rong and continued touching up her makeup, feeling a bit impatient inside.

“Everyone uses the testers to touch up. She does it herself too, yet she still lectures you. Definitely jealous.”

Li Rong didn’t notice Su Wanqing’s impatience. She spoke while arranging the shelves.

Suddenly, her voice stopped, and low whispers rose around them.

“Look, isn’t that Liu Mei Na? A celebrity.”

“Yeah, yeah. I just saw her on TV yesterday. I heard she came to Luo City for an event. Didn’t expect it to be true.”

“Who’s the man next to her? So handsome. Is he also a celebrity?”

Su Wanqing didn’t know who Liu Mei Na was. She didn’t follow celebrities. She only vaguely heard footsteps stop behind her. She quickly put away her blush and turned around with a smile.

“Let’s go with this one. What good stuff can a second-tier small city even have?”

“Just make do. Your fans are right behind you. Pick whatever you like, I’ll buy it for—”

The man speaking turned his handsome face and suddenly froze. “Wanqing.”

Seeing that heroic-looking face, Su Wanqing was also stunned for a second. It was him — Lin Shao Feng.

“Lin… Lin Ge, long time no see.”

It really had been a long time. Because of that incident, she cut off contact with all her friends. Meeting again made the atmosphere a little awkward.

A trace of sadness flashed in Lin Shao Feng’s eyes. His voice was low. “Have you been well?”

That question was hard to answer. Su Wanqing could only nod lightly. “I’ve been okay. You?”

Her gaze passed over Liu Mei Na beside him. The latter hurriedly reached out and hooked her arm around Lin Shao Feng’s, lifting her chin slightly, looking like she was declaring ownership.

Su Wanqing showed a faint smile. “Looks like you’re doing well.”

Lin Shao Feng’s expression darkened. He stepped aside and pulled his arm out of Liu Mei Na’s hold. “Let’s have lunch together. We haven’t seen each other for a long time.”

“Sorry, I… I’m a bit busy. You can see, I’m working.”

Just as she finished speaking, store manager Zhou Lan’s voice came from behind her.

“Su Wanqing, why aren’t you introducing our products to the customer? Oh right, there’s also a new promotion.”
