The next morning, Su Wanqing woke up in a wave of soreness. She let out a soft whimper, and then suddenly noticed the strange sensation between her legs, her face immediately paling.
Fragments of last night’s events flashed through her mind, stopping abruptly when she saw Jian Ou.
Could it be… last night she was with Jian Ou?
The moment the thought crossed her mind, a few indescribable, strange feelings surged up in her chest.
“Don’t play dead now that you’re awake.”
The sudden, unfamiliar voice made Su Wanqing jolt. She turned her head and saw a stranger putting on his pants, eyes coldly fixed on her. His upper body bore scratches from a woman’s fingernails.
In that instant, it was like a bucket of ice water had been poured over her head. It was July, yet she felt frozen all over, as if falling into an ice cellar.
“Who are you?!”
She demanded sharply.
The stranger sneered. “Your companion from last night.”
Su Wanqing’s pupils constricted. “Jian Ou?!”
At the mention of Jian Ou, she saw a flicker of panic on the stranger’s face. She pressed immediately, “You know him, don’t you?! Did he send you?”
“Why do you ask so much?! What Jian Ou? I don’t know him!” The man snapped impatiently.
After pulling on his shirt, he glanced at the crimson stains on the sheets and dismissed them. “Last night was mutual. Considering you’re a virgin, here’s five million. Take it and get out of Luocheng!”
He slapped a check onto the nightstand.
The handwriting was unmistakable. Su Wanqing’s blood froze.
It had to be Jian Ou’s hand.
Was three years of his ruthlessness not enough?!
Why… why treat her like this?!
Hatred flared violently in Su Wanqing’s chest. She flung the check back at the man and shouted, “Get out! Go tell him I’m not leaving Luocheng!”
Her sister, Wan Hong, was still recovering in the Luocheng hospital. How could she leave?
The man’s expression darkened, and he muttered angrily, “Like a crazy woman, spouting all this nonsense!”
He picked up the check and tossed it back onto the bed. “Take it or leave it! Either way, you won’t leave Luocheng alive!”
With that, he opened the door and slammed it behind him—“Bang!”—vanishing without a trace.
Su Wanqing was left sitting on the bed, her heart bleeding.
Jian Ou… you’re ruthless!
She vowed silently that she would not let this go.
“Xiao Rong, I need a favor.”
Su Wanqing found her phone and called Xiang Xiaorong.
“What’s wrong with your voice?”
Su Wanqing didn’t answer the question. “I ran into Jian Ou. You…”
Before she could finish, a sharp scream came from the other end.
“What?! You ran into that jerk? What did he do to you? Where are you? I’m coming over right now!”
“I’m fine. Don’t you have a friend at the detective agency? Get him to check Jian Ou’s schedule today.”
Xiang Xiaorong hesitated on the line, then finally cautioned, “Be careful… don’t do anything reckless.”
An hour later, on Yuan’an Road, a car screeched to a sudden stop.
“Boss, it looks like Miss Su.”
The man in the back seat snapped his eyes open, sharp gaze piercing straight toward the window.
By then, the figure blocking the car had moved to the right side. He tried pulling the door—it wouldn’t open—and started pounding on it instead.
“Jian Ou! Get out here! Stop hiding in the car like a coward!”
The man’s brow furrowed sharply, and two cold rays of light flashed from his eyes.
He rolled down the window, eyes like knives fixed on Su Wanqing. “What the hell are you thinking?”
