Su Wanqing let out a cold laugh.
“You think ruining my innocence and handing me some money would make everything okay?! And you even want to chase me out of Luocheng? Why? Do you think you’re the king of the world?”
“Jian Ou, I’m telling you, this is Luocheng, not your Shangjing! You don’t have the right to rule over everything with one hand!”
Jian Ou, furious, only laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Then go ahead—see if I have the ability!”
The moment those words left his mouth, scenes from three years ago flashed through Su Wanqing’s mind. Her body trembled with rage.
“Jian Ou, enough!”
She shouted hoarsely, her voice cracking.
The memories she had tried so hard to bury were ripped open, bringing with them endless hatred and pain.
Her eyes red, Su Wanqing screamed, “Three years ago, you forced me to go abroad! Wasn’t that enough?!”
Not only that, her sister was still lying in a hospital bed, unable to wake.
If it weren’t for covering her sister’s astronomical medical bills, how could she have ended up in that kind of place, selling her smile?
Her life as Su Wanqing, the way she had become who she was today, was inseparable from the man in front of her.
Yet laughably, this man still refused to let her go.
In the car, Jian Ou’s expression darkened like still water. His voice was as sharp as ice.
“Su Wanqing, do you still not feel remorse even today?”
“Remorse?!”
Su Wanqing laughed, as if she’d just heard the funniest joke.
Seeing her smile slowly fade, she locked eyes with him, her voice sharp and biting as she asked each word with force.
“Why should I feel remorse?! The one who did wrong was your sister, Jian Shanshan! It was your lack of trust that caused all this. I only hate myself for being blind and mistaking the wrong person—but you have no right to demand I feel remorse!”
“Su Wanqing, I thought after three years your conscience might finally stir, but you’re still so unrepentant!”
Jian Ou’s black eyes were full of anger and disappointment, his face icy cold.
“Shanshan was deliberately run into by your car and got disfigured. To this day, there’s still a small scar on her face. The surveillance footage shows it all clearly, yet you insist that Shanshan was lying. Hmph! Su Wanqing, do you take me for a fool?!”
Su Wanqing’s heart chilled further, each word like a knife dripping with blood.
“We met when we were sixteen, we were together for three full years, already at the point of discussing marriage—but your trust in me was shockingly shallow.”
“I once naively thought you would be my whole world, but you chose that sister of yours, with no blood relation to you at all! Hmph…”
Jian Ou sneered, full of disappointment and mockery. “And you dare to blame me when the evidence is crystal clear? Shanshan got disfigured, and she didn’t take you to court—that’s already me being generous!”
“And my sister?! She was left a vegetative state after being hit by Jian Shanshan! Am I supposed to take her to court too?!”
“What did you say?” Jian Ou’s brow furrowed.
Su Wan Hong had become a vegetative state in that accident. How could he not know?
“Don’t play dumb! Are you still going to claim I was malicious, willing to risk my own sister’s safety just to ruin Jian Shanshan?!”
“Su Wanqing, stop making trouble!” Jian Ou’s brow knit even tighter, his mind spinning with thoughts of Su Wan Hong being left a vegetative state.
Su Wanqing glared at his impatient face, hatred burning through her chest.
It had been another three years since she and her sister went abroad for treatment.
Three years—enough to turn a person’s world upside down.
A year ago, the Su family went bankrupt, her parents died, and she had fallen from a life of comfort to struggling for every penny.
Later, because her sister’s medical bills overseas were astronomical, she had no choice but to return home.
She had tried everything to forget the past with this man, yet in the end, he still schemed and harmed her.
How could she not hate him?!
Su Wanqing’s eyes were fierce as she glared at Jian Ou. “I really wish I had never met you!”
Jian Ou felt a tug in his chest, a subtle pain spreading, yet he ignored it.
He no longer wanted to waste time arguing with Su Wanqing and coldly said, “Get out of Luocheng. Don’t test my patience.”
With that, he ordered the driver to go, and the car sped away in an instant.
“Jian Ou, you bastard!”
Su Wanqing stomped her foot hard, screaming at the top of her lungs.
After a long while, she clenched her fists and turned to leave, only to run into Sister Mei on a nearby street outside the club.
Su Wanqing had tried to avoid her, but couldn’t get past.
“Wanqing, are… you crying?”
Sister Mei looked at her slightly red eyes.
“No, some sand just blew into my eyes.”
Sister Mei didn’t press further but, as she left, dropped a single sentence that made Su Wanqing’s face go pale.
“Wanqing, leave Luocheng.”
