Su Ran’s face was as cold as ice. “I have more than one piece of evidence regarding Xue Yi’s crimes. I believe President Lu would also be willing to assist by helping me find the best lawyer. I wonder if any company will be willing to hire a Financial Vice Director with a criminal record and a history of misconduct when the time comes.”

Lu Jingxing tilted his head slightly and nodded slowly. “Gaoshan has the best lawyers in Jicheng.”

Xue Yi’s hand shook, and his chopsticks nearly fell onto the table.Full novel: CEO Lu, Be Good: Miss Su is Off for Another Paternity Test — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She was so certain; could she still have the video from that night when he broke into her house intending to force himself on her?

Damn it, she was more scheming than he thought. She wanted to use that to blackmail him.

He had to find an opportunity to delete everything she had.

He Lujie chuckled nervously. “Young people having a spat—they always take things too far. President Lu, there’s no need to take it seriously. It won’t affect anything, haha.”

He didn’t know that Xue Yi had once tried to rape Su Ran.

What kind of leverage could she possibly have on his nephew? She was likely talking about the surveillance footage of the drugging. Since there was no living proof, they could easily claim it was just Vitamin B.

As for other matters, it was nothing more than sleeping with a few women; the police wouldn’t care as long as it was consensual.

Regardless, today’s mission was complete. It was best to withdraw early.

Before he could move his legs, Du Heng suddenly spoke quietly. “President Lu, the CFO has been notified. Gaoshan Capital will never have any business dealings with Fuda Bank again. For all companies that Gaoshan has invested in, any existing partnerships with Fuda will be terminated immediately.”

Xue Yi looked at his uncle in shock.

He Lujie’s expression changed instantly. “President Lu, Assistant Du, what is the meaning of this? Weren’t we having a very pleasant conversation?”

A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Lu Jingxing’s eyes. “Pleasant? He Lujie, when you’ve grown accustomed to acting like a beast, you should realize that the master will eventually slaughter you.”

He Lujie could no longer keep his composure. It felt as if he had been slapped in public, yet he didn’t dare to fight back.

Xue Yi stammered, “President Lu, my uncle…”

“Is it your place to speak? Get out.” Lu Jingxing glared at him coldly. Xue Yi’s body involuntarily turned cold and began to tremble.

He didn’t dare look at Lu Jingxing’s face again; his eyes were drawn to the man’s hand.

It was as if the teacup in Lu Jingxing’s hand might be hurled at his head at any moment, splitting his skull open.

His uncle had told him that there were once insolent people who were “opened up” by Lu Jingxing after only a few words.

He looked back at the two people in the corner who were still stuffing their faces.

Xue Yi could barely stand.

The flesh on He Lujie’s face quivered. His complexion turned from green to red, and every trace of his smile vanished. He bowed humbly. “I was presumptuous today. I have offended you greatly.”

Ignoring any further etiquette, he turned and left.

Xue Yi was both furious and terrified as he followed close behind He Lujie, scurrying out in disgrace.

It was only after they were a good distance away that he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

“Uncle, is that it? Is it just over?”

He Lujie was also still reeling from the fear. “What else can we do! Go back and let them curse at us again? If you hadn’t insisted on sleeping with her before handing her over, and had just thrown Su Ran onto Lu Jingxing’s bed directly, none of this would have happened!”

“Uncle, she was my girlfriend after all.”

Xue Yi did like Su Ran, which was why he had obediently waited six months without touching her. If it had been any of his previous women, he never would have waited that long.

But despite all his calculations, he hadn’t expected Su Ran to accidentally stumble into Lu Jingxing’s room, ruining their plans.

He hadn’t gotten the girl, and the partnership with Gaoshan was gone. He had lost his woman and his soldiers; today he had even been humiliated. It was goddamn pathetic.

He Lujie stopped in his tracks. “Are you sure Lu Jingxing made those sounds on purpose that night just so you could hear them?”

Xue Yi’s neck turned hot and red. He felt humiliated just thinking about it.

The door had been vibrating the entire time. As a man, how could he not tell how pleasurable and deliberate Lu Jingxing’s groans were?

Xue Yi gritted his teeth hatefully. “Yes. I even vaguely heard him say he wanted to do it at the door specifically so I could listen.”

He Lujie snorted. “Hmph, people like him always have fetishes. He’s just putting on an act because of his status, but God knows how much he was enjoying it in his heart. Did you see under the table? Was there any secret hand-holding or leg-rubbing?”

Xue Yi recalled that the hand Lu Jingxing used to lean toward Su Ran had indeed remained under the table, and Su Ran’s expression had been full of shame. They must have been doing something shameless in secret. “It seemed like it.”

He Lujie gave a contemptuous, conniving smirk. “That female confidante of his has a long-distance boyfriend. And that female secretary he trusts the most is married. Lu Jingxing, hmph, shares the same tastes as Cao Cao. He might even be another Liu Ziye of the Southern Dynasties.”

Xue Yi felt uncomfortable. “How can you still laugh? Gaoshan cut off so many of your contracts.”

He Lujie replied, “The enterprises under Gaoshan didn’t have much business with Fuda to begin with. Erye promised that however much is withdrawn here, he will give me double elsewhere.”

No one would know that he was the one who lost the business partnerships, but the new major contracts signed would all count toward his performance.

Not to mention, he had confirmed a crucial piece of information today. The affair between Su Ran and Lu Jingxing wasn’t limited to just that one night, and Lu Jingxing was willing to step forward and deal with him for Su Ran’s sake. This information could also be exchanged for resources.

No matter what, he was the one profiting.

As for how those wealthy people fought amongst themselves, that was none of his business.

Xue Yi sucked in his cheeks. “Those two idiots who were causing trouble today—Erye did that on purpose, didn’t he?”

He Lujie curled his lip. “Who else would dare? Lu Jingxing surely knows that Erye is the one behind us. That’s why he won’t move against us easily.”

Inside the private room, Su Ran was also about to leave, but Lu Jingxing pulled her back. “You shouldn’t bring emotions into watching a play.”

Su Ran wasn’t just unhappy; she was feeling an inexplicable irritability. “President Lu can afford not to care about emotions, of course. You can insult people at will, and cut off or grant resources as you please. I don’t have that kind of power.”

Lu Jingxing remarked, “Talk about kicking someone when they’re down. Didn’t you just use me to scare them off?”

Su Ran’s eyes reddened slightly. “President Lu is so clever, you must have seen that their target was you. I was merely a tool used by a twist of fate. On that point, I don’t owe you.”

A faint smile emerged on Lu Jingxing’s stern face. “Oh? Then on what point do you owe me?”

Su Ran said, “You were a huge help in investing in Tianlei. I will work hard to make sure you earn your return.”

Lu Jingxing gently grabbed Su Ran’s arm and tilted his head slightly to look at her sulking face. His tone was soft, and there was a hint of ambiguity in his gaze.

“Are you really angry?”

Su Ran felt increasingly aggrieved and suddenly wanted to cry. “I wouldn’t dare. You are the investor now, the benefactor.”

Lu Jingxing said, “I was clearly the one who was wronged just now. Why aren’t you scolding Xue Yi and He Lujie, but scolding me instead?”

Su Ran looked up directly into Lu Jingxing’s unfathomable eyes. “You didn’t need to come to this dinner, and I wouldn’t have had to endure it. You just wanted me to watch a humiliating monkey show so that I would be grateful to you.”

The corners of Lu Jingxing’s mouth dipped slightly, as if he were the one suffering an injustice. “I could have chosen not to come, of course. But if I had just told you, would you have believed me? This is the first time in my life I’ve endured such humiliation without insulting anyone or raising a hand, all just to let you know how treacherous the world can be.”

Du Heng glanced at the two people still eating in the corner: Right, they don’t count as people.

Su Ran wanted to say that she already knew how unpredictable people were. But did he have to emphasize it in such a naked, bloody way?

Yet, what right did she have to throw a tantrum at him? In this matter, he was also innocent.

Su Ran lifted her chin with a touch of pride. “I’m sorry. I’m leaving now.”

Lu Jingxing chuckled as he watched Su Ran’s retreating back.

Du Heng followed Lu Jingxing’s gaze. “Miss Su has very strong professional abilities.”

Lu Jingxing added, “But her character is still laced with a young girl’s purity and recklessness.”

Du Heng gave Lu Jingxing a slow look. “I understand.”

“Understand what?”

Du Heng said, “I will keep a close eye on the Tianlei project to ensure the profit data does not reach the requirements of the gambling agreement you have with Miss Su.”

Lu Jingxing smiled and asked back, “Am I that kind of person?”

Du Heng’s gaze was honest. “Miss Su thinks you are.”
