After returning from the party, she dismissed the servants and took her bath herself, despite feeling very tired.
Remembering she washed her head, she dragged her tired self to the closet to look for a nightwear to dress up in, and then made her way towards the mirror dresser as she sat down and looked at herself.
The party had been a success, and the guests already left to their various homes.
She remembered her conversation with Mike and was glad he really made out time to come to her birthday celebration.
He was truly a good friend.
Sighing, she made to pick up the dryer when her hand accidentally came in contact with the box that was given to her earlier by the parents.
She picked it up and studied its delicate features once more before keeping it again on the table as she grabbed the dryer now.
“Should I help you, Princess?” a manly voice suddenly came from the window.
Camilla, who was already expecting him to come back, didn’t flinch a bit when she heard the voice.
“You came back,” she said in a tired voice.
“Yeah, I did like promised.
Am I not an honest man?” Prince Thane answered as he kept walking over to her and took the dryer from her hand.
They both sat there in silence, not knowing what to say or make about the fact they were both confined in a room, despite being strangers to one another.
The silence, however, wasn’t awkward, and they just enjoyed each other’s company without breaking it.
Making some last touches and making sure her hair was all dried properly, he turned off the dryer and kept it on the table.
“I’m done,” he announced and slicked a strand of her hair that fell on her face, and as he looked up, their eyes met in the mirror.
“What is your motive for coming here today, Prince Thane?
I don’t recall us ever meeting or having any interactions, so enlighten me.”
“Well, I find you interesting, and I would like to explore that fact that drew me to you,” he uttered in a charming voice as they stared at each other.
“Let’s dance,” he asked as he stretched out his hand to her. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.
Natalia stood up with his help, and she turned around facing him completely, not minding she was already in her sleeping wear.
“Brace yourself,” he said, and suddenly the world spun around Camilla as she held onto him tightly for dear life.
They reappeared in a place surrounded by blue roses that had a small water pool by the side.
A decorated table could be seen at the center that had candlelights on them.
The theme was just romantic, and Camilla didn’t know what to make of it.
It was neither hot nor cold, just the right amount of temperature that Camilla liked.
She freed herself from his embrace and stepped forward to look around when he grabbed her hand and clasped it toward him, and they stepped forward.
“This is my safe haven,” he suddenly said, and Camilla looked at the man who had a bit of a melancholy vibe around him.
“It is beautiful,” she said, not knowing how else to describe the scenery she was seeing.
“Here,” Thane called out as he plucked a blue rose and tucked it behind her ear, which made her look more radiant despite her tired look.
They walked to what looked like a podium, and he turned her to face him when he snapped his fingers, and a soft romantic music played out suddenly.
“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
> The day we met
Frozen, I held my breath
Right from the start
I knew that I’d found a home for my heart
Beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I’m afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more…
They both danced to this music, lost in each other’s eyes, and for the first time in history, Camilla felt a strong emotion for a man — the man in front of her — not knowing what to make of it.
And it was only there for a short while before it disappeared again.
Thane, on the other hand, left his cold front as soon as he started dancing with the woman that had been keeping him up for the past three months.
He still couldn’t believe she was here with him, dancing to the tune of the music he chose, not knowing he was indirectly confessing to her.
They both danced as they left their worries for the time being, and with the song coming to an end, Thane twirled her twice and kissed her forehead, and the music finally stopped.
Camilla looked up at him, feeling nothing as usual, though she wasn’t repulsed by his presence.
“Huh?
Did you say something?” Prince Thane pretended he didn’t hear her words.
“If you know me, you should have heard rumors about my inability to feel attracted to the opposite sex,” Camilla said firmly this time.
“Feelings aren’t something that grows in one night, Princess.
Let’s just go with the flow this time.
Who knows, something might happen.”
“I don’t want to give you any false hope, Prince Thane…” she was still saying before Thane cut her short.
“Thane only, Princess.
It is Thane to you, no honorifics,” he said while looking straight into her eyes, trying to control himself in a subtle manner without scaring her.
“Well, Thane, it’s way past my bedtime.
Take me home, please.”
“Will do, but first, here’s my last gift for the day,” he said before fishing out the box in his pocket.
“Many things I can’t tell you now,” he said while going on his knees, and then he looked up, “but I want you to know I will solve them and come get you.
This is the token of my forbidden interest in you,” he concluded while displaying a ring that had a sapphire gemstone in front of her that looked magnificent.
And although Camilla didn’t understand what he meant by forbidden, she still nodded.
“You don’t have to feel pressured, Princess.
It’s a promise ring — a promise for you to hold on that I will come back for you.
I just hope you would give me a chance, regardless of whether you are incapable of feeling.
I will treasure you as you are, and I will grow on you with time,” he joked with his last statement.
Camilla looked at the Vampire Prince kneeling in front of her and sighed before she said in her heart,
“It wouldn’t hurt to give it a trial.
I’ve got nothing to lose anyway,” and with that, she stretched her hand out.
