Wen Zhi carried a bag of daily necessities, having just picked the last box of pastries from the supermarket shelf, and headed to the checkout counter to pay. As she rounded the corner of the aisle, she saw Li Yue standing at the counter. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a smile.
“You’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you forever,” Li Yue waved, her eyes sparkling with gossipy excitement. “You know what? Just now, there was this super handsome guy who came to buy pads. When he was checking out, even the cashier blushed.”
Hearing this, Wen Zhi couldn’t help but chuckle. “Buying pads? What’s so strange about that?”
“Ah, it’s not about him buying pads—it’s his face! He was seriously handsome! That lazy, bad-boy vibe was just… wow!” Li Yue gestured animatedly, her face filled with excitement.
But with that description, Wen Zhi immediately knew who it was.
“Darling, we need to keep our eyes on the long game. We’ve got four years here, and you’re already losing it over the first handsome guy you see?” Wen Zhi teased her.
Li Yue shot her a resentful glare.
“Hmph.”
Meanwhile, Su Wenjing had just finished delivering something to his mother and walked out of the office building. Dressed in casual clothes, a lazy smile hung at the corner of his mouth, giving off an untamed aura.
As soon as he stepped out of the building, he spotted a middle-aged man approaching from a distance—his former finance professor, Professor Chen. Though over fifty, Professor Chen was still spirited, with wise eyes that gleamed brightly.
“Hey? Su Wenjing, long time no see! What brings you to Haida University today?” Professor Chen walked up and patted Su Wenjing on the shoulder.
They seemed to have a close, affectionate relationship.
“Just dropping something off for my mom,” Su Wenjing replied lazily.
“Long time no see. You’re still as energetic as ever.”
“If you’d stop annoying me, I might live to a hundred.”
During his time at the university, Su Wenjing had caused Professor Chen plenty of trouble. Despite his rebellious streak and frequent absences, he consistently ranked first in the department and won numerous awards representing the school, leaving Professor Chen torn between admiration and frustration.
“By the way, our school’s anniversary celebration is next month. Do you think you’ll have time to come, President Su?” Professor Chen invited.
“Oh, please don’t call me that—it’s too much,” Su Wenjing waved it off. “After all, Haida is still my alma mater. Since you’ve asked, how could I not come?”
“I’ll bring Song Bojian along too, to add some shine to your reputation and give you something to brag about. Pretty loyal of me, right?” Su Wenjing teased, a hint of mischief flashing in his eyes.
“What do you mean, brag?!” Professor Chen huffed, his beard practically bristling. “Am I that kind of person?!”
Su Wenjing grinned, his tone rising playfully. “Who knows?”
With a raised eyebrow, he walked off teasingly.
Not long after the semester began, the freshmen faced their first university challenge: military training.
For Wen Zhi, a dance major who had already drawn attention since the start of the semester with her striking looks and graceful demeanor, military training became an opportunity for even more people to notice her beauty.
Sunlight filtered through sparse clouds, casting a warm glow over the sports field and breathing life into the sea of green below.
Wen Zhi stood in her camouflage uniform, her hair tied up in a high ponytail. Her bright eyes sparkled under the sunlight, and her delicate features seemed almost painted—her fair skin like polished jade, and the faint upward curve of her lips giving the impression of a gentle, ever-present smile that drew people in effortlessly.
It was already the first week of military training. Though the days were tough, Wen Zhi always faced them with a positive attitude.
Her movements were precise and powerful, every turn and every step executed with grace and confidence.
Of course, this had much to do with her years of dance training. Regular physical exercise had made military training feel almost effortless for Wen Zhi—she was practically thriving in it.
Yet, it was precisely this combination of beauty and excellence that made Wen Zhi a hot topic on the campus forum.
Someone had posted photos of her during training, sparking a heated discussion.
In the photos, even in her camouflage uniform, her ethereal elegance shone through—like a blooming lily, radiant against a backdrop of green leaves.
Comments flooded the forum, ranging from praise and admiration to envy. Some even compared her to the previous campus belle, igniting a fierce debate.
【OMG, a goddess is a goddess! After all these days, I’m practically tanned to a crisp, but she’s still glowing white!!! Wuwuwu】
【She’s seriously so pretty—that delicate face, that slender waist, those long, straight legs. Her natural advantages are just too much!】
【Does anyone else get it? Wen Zhi looks so soft and sweet! I just wanna squish her! (lusty eyes)】
【Hey, you creep, get lost! Don’t taint our dancing fairy! (angry)】
【Don’t exaggerate, okay? Wen Zhi is just average. I still think our campus belle Zhou Qian is prettier. (scoff.jpg)】
【Different strokes for different folks! What do you mean “just average”?】
【Hahaha, who’s the troll here? The ability to talk nonsense is off the charts! Zhou Qian is pretty, but she pales in comparison to Wen Zhi!】
【Don’t start a fight! Our Wen beauty is new here, why bully her?】
【Why pit one against the other? Seriously…】
……..
“Hey, Wen Zhi, look at these comments on the forum—they’re practically worshipping you!” Her roommate Zhang Tingting held up her phone, teasing with a grin.
“Oh, there’s nothing interesting about that.” Wen Zhi chuckled softly and continued tidying her bed, seemingly unfazed by the outside chatter.
“You really don’t care, do you? You’re about to steal the title of campus belle.” Tingting continued to tease.
Wen Zhi, however, had no interest in being the campus belle. The title was useless to her—far less appealing than a cup of milk tea.
Hehe.
Of course, this was just her inner thought. If she said it out loud, Tingting and the others would definitely roast her.
“Stop browsing the forum. Instead of looking at that, why not think about what to eat tonight?” Wen Zhi said calmly.
“All you ever think about is food.” Li Yue, who was happily scrolling through short videos nearby, couldn’t resist chiming in.
“If you’re not enthusiastic about eating, there’s something wrong with your mindset, comrades!” Wen Zhi exclaimed.
As soon as the words were spoken, the few people in the dormitory burst into laughter.
