Valentina sat quietly on the hospital bed, staring around the unfamiliar room, everything felt strange.
The white walls, the sharp smell of medicine, the beeping machines beside her bed and most of all the handsome man standing directly in front of her.
Her gaze remained fixed on him….Harrison Whitmore.
At least, that was what everyone had called him.
According to him, he was her boyfriend but something inside her told her otherwise.
She had lost her memory. She couldn’t remember her past.
She couldn’t remember where she lived, who her family was, or how she had ended up in the hospital but despite the emptiness in her mind, her instincts kept whispering that Harrison wasn’t telling her everything.
She didn’t know why because she simply couldn’t remember ever being in a relationship with him.Yet, with no memories of her own to contradict him, she had no choice but to accept what she had been told.
Harrison, meanwhile, couldn’t take his eyes off her.
He had seen her the night before lying helplessly in the mud, covered in bruises and blood, her clothes torn and soaked from the rain.
But now…
She looked completely different.
Her long hair framed her delicate face, her skin looked surprisingly radiant despite everything she had been through, and her beautiful eyes held an innocence that made it difficult for him to look away.
He could hardly believe this was the same woman he had carried into the hospital.Their eyes met, neither of them spoke.Valentina quickly looked away.A few seconds later, she glanced at him again.
Harrison did the same, their eyes met for a second time. His assistant, standing quietly nearby, noticed the exchange. He raised an eyebrow slightly but wisely, he said nothing.Neither Harrison nor Valentina knew how to begin a conversation.
There was something strangely awkward about the silence between them.Perhaps Valentina found him alluring.
Perhaps Harrison found himself inexplicably attracted to her whatever it was, he refused to acknowledge it.He turned his gaze toward the window, trying desperately to regain the stern composure he was known for.
He couldn’t allow his emotions to get the better of him.
Not now.
Not when there were still so many unanswered questions.
Finally, Valentina broke the silence.
“How did I become your girlfriend?”
Harrison’s eyes immediately returned to her.For the first time, the question caught him off guard but only for a moment. He quickly composed himself.
“We’ve been friends since high school,” he said.
Valentina stared at him.”Since high school?”
“Yes.” Narrison maintained a calm expression.”We’ve known each other for a long time.”
She studied his face carefully, something still didn’t feel right but she couldn’t explain what it was.
“Then why can’t I remember you?”
Harrison paused.His fingers curled slightly.
He had expected questions but he hadn’t expected them to come so soon.
“We can discuss everything when we get home,” he finally said.
“You need to rest first.”
Valentina remained unconvinced but what choice did she have?
Her memories were gone.
She had nothing to rely on except the information everyone around her was giving her.She slowly nodded.
Then suddenly….
A sharp pain twisted through her body.
She gasped. Her hand immediately moved toward her abdomen.Harrison’s expression changed.
“Valentina?”
She squeezed her eyes shut.
The pain was deep, uncomfortable and somehow frighteningly familiar.
Her body seemed to remember something her mind couldn’t.
Images flashed through her mind.Darkness, rain, rough hands,Pain.
Then she opened her eyes abruptly as her breathing became uneven.
“What happened to me?”
Harrison froze, the question struck him harder than he expected,he knew what he had seen and the state in which he had found her but he still didn’t know exactly what had happened before those men abandoned her.
Was she assaulted?,Was she beaten?,Who had done it?And why?
He couldn’t bring himself to tell her something he wasn’t even certain about, not when she had just woken up with no memory of the past.
So he chose the easiest lie.
“You had an accident yesterday.”
Valentina stared at him.
“An accident?”Her voice trembled with disbelief.
“Yes.”Harrison nodded.
“You were injured, but you’ll be fine.” He stepped closer to the bed.
“The doctors are doing everything they can.”
His voice softened.
“You just need to rest.”
Valentina studied his face, there was something about the concern in his eyes that made her feel strangely safe. She slowly relaxed.
“Okay…”
Harrison watched her carefully.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
But inside his mind, one question continued to haunt him.
Who had done this to her?And why did the sight of her pain feel so personal? His gaze unconsciously dropped toward the tiny silver necklace resting against her neck. The necklace.
His late mother’s lookalike necklace.
The one mystery he still couldn’t explain.
Harrison’s expression hardened,he had no idea who Valentina truly was.
Even the name was given to her but he was determined to find out everything about her and her true identity.
Before he could say anything
A doctor walked into the room accompanied by a nurse. The doctor approached Valentina and began checking her condition.
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m still in pain,” Valentina answered.
The doctor nodded.”That’s understandable.
Your body suffered significant trauma, so you may experience pain and weakness for some time.”
Harrison remained silent.
Be listened carefully to every word after completing the examination, the doctor turned towards him.
“Mr.
Whitmore, may I speak with you privately?”
Harrison nodded as he followed the doctor a short distance away from the bed.The doctor lowered his voice.
“She’ll need somewhere safe and comfortable to stay once she’s discharged.”
Harrison’s expression changed.
He remembers that he’s an Introvert who had lived alone for many years and already used to the lifestyle.
This question struck something deep inside him that got him confused on what to do…..
