The air was still.

Wen Jin looked at her, his pitch-black pupils showing no emotion at all. “I’m a pervert?”

Jiang Wan wiped the tears off her face. She yanked off the bath towel and threw it at his chest. “Take it back!”Full novel: COHABITATION (1v1) H — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She brushed past him, almost running as she dashed into the room. Then she shut the door, climbed onto the bed, and hid under the blanket.

Wen Jin stood there for a moment, lowered his gaze at the bath towel on the ground.

His brows furrowed. Only after a long time did he finally bend down, pick up the towel, and toss it into the dirty laundry basket.

During his gaming livestream that night, he was completely out of it. He gave away first blood at the start, and later when his team was wiped out, he expressionlessly took off his headset, dropped the line “Not playing anymore,” and ended the stream.

He had lived here for many years. Almost all the housekeepers he hired before lived out, but this was the first time he had taken in a live-in housekeeper, because a friend said this one was gentle-tempered and diligent.

He knew many people couldn’t accept his personality. He had tried to blend in, but with little success.

After these past few days of getting along, he thought Jiang Wan was very good and didn’t want to replace her. But Jiang Wan crying tonight and calling him a pervert lingered heavily on his mind.

So much so that he couldn’t sleep even by one in the morning. Visit g.com for the full chapter.

He opened his door, walked out, went into the bathroom, and brought out a new bath towel.

Jiang Wan had been lying in bed listening to music all along. She hadn’t streamed today, trying to use music to calm her fear and panic. But even after hours passed, she still couldn’t sleep.

When the door opened, she startled and opened her eyes wide, only to see Wen Jin standing at the entrance.

The man was holding a bath towel in his hand. He walked over from the darkness, quietly placed it before her, then glanced at her lying in bed. He seemed to frown in thought for a moment, then lifted the blanket and spread the towel flatly over her body.

Jiang Wan: “……”

For a moment she couldn’t tell whether he was awake or sleepwalking. Worried she might startle him, she didn’t dare speak.

From the darkness, Wen Jin saw her eyes open. His movements paused slightly, and in a low voice he asked, “You’ve been awake this whole time?”

Jiang Wan finally exhaled. “You’re not sleepwalking?”

Both of them fell into silence for a brief moment.

“I’m sorry…” Jiang Wan sat up. “…I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. I… today I…”

The moment she brought it up, her body began trembling uncontrollably.

But Jiang Wan couldn’t get the words out. In the dark, she took a deep breath. “It’s fine. It’s over now… it’s fine…”

“Jiang Wan.” Wen Jin called her name, his deep, low voice unusually hoarse. “What you said tonight weighed heavily on me. I want to know what happened.”

Jiang Wan’s tears suddenly fell.

Aggrieved, she covered her face, piecing together in broken words the scene of her escape from Wei Jiyuan’s hands. “I’m sorry… I was just too scared, that’s why… why I…”

“Get up.” Wen Jin stood. “Put your clothes on, I’ll take you to the police station.”

“No… I promised He Yingtong I wouldn’t call the police, I…” Jiang Wan instantly fell into panic.

“You never promised her. From start to finish, you never once said the words ‘I won’t call the police.’” Wen Jin’s face was blank as he spoke, but his eyes were deep and dark, showing a steadiness and restraint that didn’t match his age. “This was attempted rape. If He Yingtong hadn’t shown up, you’d be the victim lying at the crime scene right now, not sitting here discussing with me whether or not to report it.”

Jiang Wan’s heart immediately calmed. She wiped away her tears, looked at Wen Jin, and said:

“I want to report it.”
