Her nose tip brushed close, gently taking in his scent.

A woody fragrance lingered, like pine after snow—mysterious and tender yet fresh, elegant and captivating.

For a second, her mind went blank.Full novel: COHABITATION (1v1) H — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Jin tilted his head; their noses almost touched.

His deep, magnetic voice rumbled, dangerously alluring: “What do I smell like?”

His face was too close. In the darkness of his pupils, her reflection was fully contained. The faint lines beneath his eyes gave the illusion of deep affection.

Jiang Wan instinctively stepped back, her voice taut.

“…You smell nice too.”

Wen Jin nodded, satisfied, and moved away.

Jiang Wan slowly let out a breath.

She turned to continue washing the cups, only to notice her fingers still trembling faintly.

Maybe it was because she hadn’t been close to a man for such a long time… but just now, for one fleeting moment, she had felt an impulse to… hug him.

After tidying up, Jiang Wan returned to her room. On her phone were several missed calls. She checked—it was Wei Jiyuan.

She stared for a moment, then deleted the record and shut the phone. But not long after, he called again. She was about to power it off when a message popped up: New chapters come out on g.com first.

I need to talk to you. If you don’t answer, I’ll come find you. I know where you are.

Jiang Wan frowned. The phone rang once more. She hesitated, then pressed “answer.”

“Jiang Wan.”

Her brow furrowed. “Wei Jiyuan, just say what you need to say.”

“I want to see you in person.” His voice carried the slur of alcohol, low and weary. “Come here. Let’s just make things clear once and for all.”

“Say it on the phone.” Jiang Wan glanced at the clock—it was 8 p.m.

“Tongtong is here too. Come. Let’s meet and lay everything out.” His voice sounded tired, pleading.

Jiang Wan thought for a moment, then sent Wen Jin a quick message, grabbed her keys, and left.

At this hour, buses had stopped running. She had to take a taxi.

As she walked up the stairwell, the motion-sensor lights flicked on with her footsteps. She stopped at the door of Unit 203 and knocked.

The living room light fixture was smashed. Soil from overturned potted plants was strewn all across the floor.

Jiang Wan stepped carefully into the mess. Behind her, Wei Jiyuan shut the door. He reeked of alcohol, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at her.

“You came.”

Jiang Wan scanned the wrecked living room. “Where’s Yingtong?”

He jerked his chin toward the bedroom.

She started toward it.

But when she opened the door—there was no one inside. And in that instant, dread struck her. She turned back—only for Wei Jiyuan to suddenly grab her, shoving her down onto the bed and pressing his weight against her.

The stench of alcohol poured off him as he lowered his head, planting frantic, messy kisses on her neck.

“Jiang Wan… I really like you…”

Her hair stood on end. She panicked, struggling to push him away, but he was drunk and far too strong. His body was heavy, pinning her down so tightly she couldn’t move. Her voice broke with fear:

“Wei Jiyuan! Let go of me—”

“No… I want you… just once, let me—” His hand tugged at her clothes, his large palm already groping at her chest through the fabric, squeezing roughly. “I dream about you every night…”

“Don’t—!” Jiang Wan thrashed with all her strength, shouting hoarsely at the top of her lungs:

“Help! Help—! Wei Jiyuan—please—let me go—HELP—!”
