“Madam, please calm down and think twice. Although it wasn’t the master who planted these, it was the old madam’s instruction,” Yu Chao looked at the vibrant flowers. “The flowers are innocent.”

“Uncle Yu, what are you thinking? These are my favorite flowers. Why would I damage them? I just want to arrange some cuttings.”

Bai Yunxia stood before the wall of ‘Pierre de Ronsard’ roses, her smile even more radiant and beautiful than the blossoms.Full novel: Cold CEO? A Teasing Touch Brings Secret Joy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“So that’s what it is. You gave me quite a scare.” Yu Chao immediately had someone bring scissors.

Bai Yunxia personally cut the flowers, gathered them in her arms, trimmed the stems, and arranged them in a glass vase.

She took photos and sent them to her sister and mother.

She wanted her family to know that she was currently living quite well.

Even though she hadn’t won over Mo Yanzhou yet.

She would eventually succeed.

Mo Yanzhou had business engagements in the evening and didn’t return home. After finishing dinner alone, Bai Yunxia went for a bored stroll around the residential complex.

An orange supercar whooshed past her.

“Driving so fast inside the complex! Are you rushing to be reborn?” Bai Yunxia fumed.

The sports car ahead suddenly stopped and began reversing.

Bai Yunxia quietly retreated to the roadside. Could she have been overheard?

She wasn’t wrong. She wouldn’t back down.

The orange sports car stopped in front of Bai Yunxia. The man in the driver’s seat removed his sunglasses, revealing a roguish, mischievous grin. “Which family’s young lady are you? I haven’t seen you around before.”

“None of your business! Driving so fast here is wrong. Can’t you see the speed limit sign up ahead says 20?” Bai Yunxia pointed at the nearby traffic sign.

“Oh? Are you going to enforce traffic laws for the police?” Zhan Bai toyed with his sunglasses. “Little beauty, you’re so fiery. Seems like you’re in a bad mood. Get in the car, and big brother will take you for a spin.”

“Please show some respect! I’m married!”

“You’re married?” Zhan Bai laughed, his arrogant and unrestrained gaze boldly appraising her. “No wedding ring? Looks like your husband doesn’t care for you.”

So beautiful, yet her husband seemed to have poor taste.

“The closest villa here is Number 9. Could the husband you’re referring to be Mo Yanzhou?” Zhan Bai set down his sunglasses and got out of the car.

Interesting.

That block of ice Mo Yanzhou had actually gotten married in secret.

And to such a delicate, sweet young beauty.

In an instant, Zhan Bai’s tall frame stood before Bai Yunxia.

The man had narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes, thin lips that curved slightly upward at the corners as if naturally inclined to mockery, his gaze carrying the disdain and arrogance of one in a superior position.

A dangerous individual.

Bai Yunxia instinctively stepped back, putting distance between them.

“What are you afraid of? I’m not going to eat you.” Zhan Bai opened the car door, his slender frame leaning against the vehicle. “Get in. I’ll take you to find Mo Yanzhou.”

Now that was something that could tempt her.

“You know where he is?”

“People like us in Lingshi only frequent a few places for business entertainment. I happen to know Mo Yanzhou’s preferred spots. So, how about it? Should I take you to find your husband? See if he’s seeing someone else? With such a stunning young wife at home, he should hurry back instead of fooling around outside. If you want to catch him in the act, I’ll be your enforcer.”

Zhan Bai’s words grew increasingly inappropriate.

Bai Yunxia turned and walked back toward the villa. “Mo Yanzhou isn’t that kind of person, and I’m not going to look for him.”

Zhan Bai slammed the passenger door shut with a bang. “Little beauty, how can you trust him so much? Men are creatures who think with their lower bodies. No matter how beautiful the flowers at home are, the shit they haven’t tasted outside always smells sweet.”

What unfortunate timing.

Mo Yanzhou hasn’t even tasted the flowers at home yet—how could he possibly go for the “shit” outside?

This person is so disgusting!

Afraid that Zhan Bai might chase after her, Bai Yunxia even started running back toward the villa.

After returning home, Bai Yunxia drank a large glass of water and obediently stayed indoors without going out again.

To play the role of a good wife, Bai Yunxia diligently waited on the sofa downstairs for Mo Yanzhou.

When Mo Yanzhou walked through the door, he could see his little wife—who had been restlessly rubbing against his lap that morning—now hugging a tablet while binge-watching a drama. Her eyes were glistening with crystalline tears, her gaze moist, the corners of her eyes tinged with a rosy blush, and her fair cheeks flushed red.

Staying up so late, lying on the sofa watching a tragic drama and crying like that.

What strange creatures women are.

Crying while watching.

Mo Yanzhou pretended not to see her and headed straight upstairs.

“Husband~”

Oh no, she’d spotted him.

Mo Yanzhou responded with a faint “Hmm,” not even pausing in his ascent.

The sound of quick, light footsteps followed from behind as Bai Yunxia hurried after him with her tablet.

“You can’t die—”

“What will I and the child do if you’re gone? Doctor, save him, please save my husband…”

Flustered, Bai Yunxia turned off the screen. “You didn’t even call for me when you got back, even though you knew I was waiting for you.”

“I said there’s no need to wait.”

“Then I wasn’t waiting for you. I was just sitting on the sofa watching a drama.” Bai Yunxia cleverly changed her story, pressing her little face close to Mo Yanzhou.

Her small nose sniffed lightly, brushing against his white shirt.

No scent of cigarettes tonight, but a faint trace of alcohol lingered.

Bai Yunxia really wanted to tell Mo Yanzhou to smoke and drink less—it wasn’t good for his health. Her own father had relied on his strong constitution, frequently socializing for work, until illness struck like a collapsing mountain, and he broke down all at once.

However, Mo Yanzhou misunderstood. “It was all men tonight.”

The implication being that he hadn’t been fooling around outside.

Hehe~

Was Mo Yanzhou explaining himself to her?

She suddenly remembered the person she’d met outside today, who seemed quite familiar with Mo Yanzhou but was rather frivolous in demeanor.

She didn’t like him much.

“That’s for the best. Don’t forget you’re a married man now. If any women try to throw themselves at you outside, you have to refuse, okay? You have to tell them you’re married.” Bai Yunxia spoke softly and sweetly. “Understand?”

“Are you lecturing me?”

With an innocent, pure face and a gentle, sugary tone, Bai Yunxia said, “I wouldn’t dare. I’m just reminding you, because I feel like you haven’t fully realized you’re married yet. As a married man, you went on a business trip right after the wedding, and even after returning, you’re out socializing every night instead of coming home early to be with your wife~”

“Are you lonely? There are so many people at home to keep you company.” Mo Yanzhou coldly continued walking.

“Mo Yanzhou, you’re the last person who should say that.”

Bai Yunxia kept up with him. “Before I came, there were just as many people at home, and you were lonely too!”

Being in a crowded environment doesn’t mean one isn’t lonely.

Just like how Mo Yanzhou had never opened his heart to anyone in Cloud Creek Valley.

“I’m not lonely.”

Mo Yanzhou’s mouth was still quite stubborn.

“Or you could interpret it as me enjoying solitude.” Mo Yanzhou stood at the entrance of the master bedroom. “Bai Yunxia, if you’re unhappy living here, you can move out.”

“Really? Won’t Grandpa and Grandma have objections if they find out?” Bai Yunxia tilted her head with a playful smile. “Hmm?”

Her mind worked quite quickly—she knew his weakness was their grandparents.

The soft glow in the hallway fell upon both of them. Mo Yanzhou’s eyes carried a clear, detached coldness as he stood tall and graceful, though his gaze remained lowered, fixed on Bai Yunxia’s fair and exquisitely beautiful face.

He said in a deep voice, “Give me your hand.”
