With her hands clasped behind her back, Bai Yunxia watched Mo Yanzhou’s handsome yet cold features. His expression was calm, but she thought he looked fierce.

Was he going to strike her palms?

“What happened to being obedient as promised?” Mo Yanzhou had simply remembered his grandmother’s request to measure her ring finger’s circumference.

“If you’re going to hit me, why should I give it to you!” Bai Yunxia took two steps back, humming dismissively. “Honest advice grates on the ears, how come you can’t stand hearing the truth!”

A vein throbbed at Mo Yanzhou’s temple. Bai Yunxia’s train of thought was too scattered, filled with nonsense.

Without reason, why would he hit her?

“Even if we disagree, I would never lay hands on a woman,” Mo Yanzhou explained coldly.

In Bai Yunxia’s eyes, did he seem like that kind of violent man?

“You scared me to death. When I made mistakes as a child, my dad and sister would hit my palms,” Bai Yunxia said, still keeping her hands firmly behind her back.

Mo Yanzhou had only said he wouldn’t hit her, but he hadn’t explained what he wanted her hand for.

“Grandmother wants your ring finger’s circumference. You can send it to her tomorrow,” Mo Yanzhou stated the reason directly.

He knew they had exchanged contact information.

Bai Yunxia’s mind raced. So Mo Yanzhou had wanted to measure her finger circumference earlier?

“I don’t know how to measure it. How do you check finger circumference? Hubby, you measure it for me. Here’s my hand.” Bai Yunxia extended her right hand. “For you to hold—no, for you to measure.”

Mo Yanzhou walked into the bedroom, and Bai Yunxia followed.

Her slender, pale fingers lightly patted his arm. “Hubby, are you using your hand to measure mine?”

Mo Yanzhou casually sat on the sofa, and Bai Yunxia naturally settled onto his lap.

Even his aloof gaze couldn’t remain unchanged. How could she sit so naturally?

Was his leg a chair?

Was his leg more comfortable than the sofa?

“Grandmother is so wonderful, true to her word. She said my beautiful fingers were missing a ring, and now she’s going to buy me one. I love Grandma.” Bai Yunxia swayed while sitting on him, as if using his long legs as a rocking chair.

Hubby-brand rocking chair—stable and fun.

The fact that Mo Yanzhou didn’t make her get up was a good sign.

Bai Yunxia placed her right hand in Mo Yanzhou’s palm. “You measure it~”

Her hand was very pale, with smooth, delicate skin. She had a fresh, elegant gradient green manicure, and her fingertips restlessly tapped against his palm without pause.

Mo Yanzhou gripped her hand firmly. “Do you have ADHD?”

Her bottom wriggled, and her fingers wouldn’t stay still.

“Then I won’t move. You do the moving,” Bai Yunxia sat obediently.

Her words were easily misinterpreted.

Mo Yanzhou held her ring finger, his thumb gently stroking it. Her bones were so fine. Grandmother was right—Bai Yunxia was too thin.

Though slender, she was curvaceous where it mattered. Daring to flaunt herself in front of him, her figure was naturally exceptional.

She just had a small frame.

“Hubby~” Bai Yunxia’s red lips nearly brushed his ear. Her thin ice-silk nightgown felt like nothing, her soft body pressing against him. “Is it measured? What’s my finger circumference?”

“I have a rough idea. You can go to sleep now.”

“I can’t sleep.” Bai Yunxia stared at his serious profile, a mischievous urge to tease Mo Yanzhou rising in her heart. Her eyes took on a pitiful look. “I just finished binge-watching a drama, and it left me feeling so unsettled. My chest hurts, and I need my husband’s comfort.”

“How would you like me to comfort you?”

Mo Yanzhou spoke stiffly, as if interrogating a subordinate.

“Well then…” Bai Yunxia’s gaze drifted to his lips. “Could my husband kiss me? That first kiss last night… I don’t think I really felt it.”

Could that brief touch even be considered a kiss?

She appeared utterly innocent and clueless, yet here she was trying to seduce him.

Mo Yanzhou replied indifferently, “I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”

“Then I’ll wait for you. Go brush them.” Bai Yunxia had no intention of leaving.

An echo of An Keying’s words seemed to ring in her mind: Bai Yunxia, you’re falling behind in your husband-chasing progress.

If it were An Keying or Yan Ruse in her place, they might have already won Mo Yanzhou over by now.

“How can I go with you sitting on my lap?”

“I believe with my husband’s physical strength, you could easily brush your teeth while holding me.”

Tycoons were supposed to have exceptional stamina, after all.

Mo Yanzhou wrapped an arm around her slender waist, lifted her aside, and stood up to leave.

Bai Yunxia hummed a tune, hugging a black cushion as she lounged lazily against the sofa. “I’ll be waiting~ Hurry back.”

Tonight, she was determined to kiss Mo Yanzhou’s lips.

If he refused, she wouldn’t budge.

To pursue an aloof and restrained male god, one had to be shamelessly persistent, cling relentlessly, press forward step by step, and occasionally retreat just enough to leave him haunted and unable to resist.

Bai Yunxia heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. Wasn’t he supposed to be brushing his teeth?

Why was Mo Yanzhou taking a shower instead?

She hadn’t brought her phone, or she could have asked her girlfriends what to do in this situation.

Feeling both nervous and excited, Bai Yunxia’s beautiful eyes darted around. As expected, a tycoon’s room was just like any other—monochromatic shades of black, white, and gray, paired with chilly air conditioning. She shivered slightly.

With Mo Yanzhou’s warmth nearby earlier, she hadn’t felt cold, but now the fine hairs on her arms were standing on end.

When Mo Yanzhou emerged from his shower, he found Bai Yunxia clutching a soft black cushion tightly. The square pillow was crumpled into a ball in her grasp as she curled up small on the sofa. Her jet-black hair cascaded around her, strands veiling her pale arms.

“Are you unwell?”

Bai Yunxia’s expression seemed off.

“I’m a little cold~” Bai Yunxia tossed the cushion aside and stretched her arms toward him, sweetly and softly coaxing, “Husband, if you hold me, I won’t be cold anymore.”

Mo Yanzhou had just finished showering and was wearing a simple black robe tied loosely at the waist. The collar gaped slightly, revealing a glimpse of his pale chest. His damp hair dripped water droplets that traced paths down his neck and Adam’s apple before disappearing beneath the robe.

Bai Yunxia suddenly thought Mo Yanzhou was unintentionally alluring.

She wanted to hug him even more.

But Mo Yanzhou responded coldly, “If you’re cold, go back to bed.”

The way Bai Yunxia was teasing him was likely because the Bai family’s situation remained unstable, and she would need his support in the future—hence her attempts to curry favor.

It was unnecessary. With their marriage alliance and his grandparents’ influence, he wouldn’t abandon the Bai family.

How heartless! How cold!

Bai Yunxia complained inwardly but pursed her lips into a pout. “What about that kiss we talked about earlier? Are we still doing it?”

Mo Yanzhou’s gaze deepened.

“No hugging, no kissing… I might as well become a monk with this kind of marriage…” Bai Yunxia picked up the nearby cushion again, burying her face in it with fake sobs.

“Who would’ve thought I’d be facing a loveless marriage so young, right after getting married…”

Thank goodness it wasn’t her sister who married into this family. With her sister’s temperament, she would never take the initiative to please Mo Yanzhou. Those two would probably remain nominal husband and wife until old age.

Mo Yanzhou’s usually calm and rational mind was thrown into complete disarray. He wanted back the gentle, considerate, obedient wife he was promised before marriage.

The one before him now was anything but obedient.

She insisted on getting a kiss before going back to sleep.

Mo Yanzhou leaned down, his well-defined fingers lifting her fair chin, his cool eyes carrying a barely noticeable smile. “What you did last night can’t even be called a kiss.”
