Echo Six showing up again made Eddie feel a thread of doubt.
Why was it that, in his previous impression, he had never noticed these people’s existence?
William’s G-serum was indeed impressive, but its practical usability wasn’t even that strong—was it really worth taking such a huge risk?
With the data in hand, Eddie quickly returned to the lab to research the vaccine materials.
What he needed was basically two different medicinal solutions plus the original T-serum.
The vaccine produced this way would have a strong purifying effect on the T-serum type used as the “medicine primer.”
A vaccine wasn’t one hundred percent effective, but as long as it was used before someone turned into a zombie, they could basically recover.
Through analyzing the vaccine, Eddie discovered that while the vaccine would damage the T-serum, it couldn’t erase it completely.
A small portion of the serum would still remain.
That residue would fuse with the cells and produce resistance to the serum.
“You’re thinking of injecting the vaccine and then letting your cells adapt to the serum?” Annette’s voice suddenly sounded.
“That will only turn you into a cripple.
If you don’t want to be disabled, you’d better not do that!”
She leaned against the lab door, high heels on, her expression proud and aloof, her medium-length hair tied up into a matron’s bun.
“If you hadn’t said it, I really was about to do exactly that.” Eddie nodded and didn’t deny it.
“Do you have any suggestions?”
“No.” Annette replied coldly, like Eddie owed her three million.
“But the T-serum is a new species extracted after fusing the Progenitor Virus with leech genes.
You can try researching the so-called Progenitor Virus itself—assuming you can even get your hands on it.”
Eddie felt a headache coming on.
Why was becoming stronger so hard?
Someone like him, who chased perfection, didn’t want to leave even a sliver of weakness like Wesker did—something that could be exploited for a comeback.
Seeing Eddie’s pained expression, Annette’s tone softened slightly.
“Virus research is a very long road.
Wanting to do it in one leap is impossible.
You’re still young—you have plenty of time.”
“No.” Eddie’s voice was firm.
“I absolutely can develop a perfect enhancement serum.
I already solved the reproductive issue.
Now there’s only this one weakness left—I have to fix it!” With that, Eddie turned and left the lab, preparing to trade for the Progenitor Virus so he could research it.
Annette frowned.
She also felt a little embarrassed—reproduction?
Speaking of that, she realized she had indeed been neglecting her daughter Sherry.
At the Raccoon Bar, most members of the tactical rescue unit came here for a drink after work. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
Jill was no exception.
Aside from Wesker, everyone was here.
The recent intense training had made them tired, but also a little excited.
Wesker had previously announced that they must increase training.
Chief Brian Irons intended to send them to investigate the terrifying “terror incidents” in the Arklay Mountains.
If they wanted to complete the mission, they needed real, solid skill.
But all of it was Wesker’s plan.
He wanted to use the tactical rescue unit members to test the power of bioweapons, then package the data and sell it to Umbrella’s rival companies—earning huge payoffs and a stepping stone to higher status!
The honest head of security, Uncle Mark, was here too, along with the laid-back officer Kevin.
“Hey, Chris,” Kevin said, passing over a bottle of beer.
“I heard you’ve been really busy lately.
Something big going down?”
“Don’t even mention it,” Chris took the beer and laughed.
“I’m tired like a dog every day.
What about you guys?
You’ve been living it up, huh?” The tactical rescue unit worked right next door to the police station—two steps and you were there.
Of course he was familiar with these officers.
“Ugh—another missing persons case.” Uncle Mark stared at the newspaper.
“How many has that been this month?
I’ve said it for ages—if you’ve got nothing to do, don’t go strolling around the Arklay Mountains.
That place has basically turned into a ghost town.”
“No kidding.” The deputy supervisor Bobby sighed while drinking his beer.
“Last time I heard my neighbor went up to the Arklay Mountains for a picnic—only one came back, and he was crazy.
Poor bastard.”
“What happened after that?” Uncle Mark asked curiously.
“What happened?” Bobby snorted, not sure who he was mocking.
“Those officers sent him to a mental hospital, said his family slipped and fell off a cliff.”
Kevin wasn’t surprised by the cynicism.
It wasn’t like he could control these things.
Just living happily was enough.
Those words made a chill creep into the hearts of the tactical rescue unit members.
Hearing it said like that, the Arklay Mountains sounded like a place filled with eerie, unnatural things!
“There’s something like that?
Then I really should go investigate—get some material.” A young female reporter with short hair, wearing a light red women’s suit, scribbled rapidly in a notebook with a pen.
“Who’s that beauty?” Alpha Team’s vehicle mechanic Joseph asked the all-knowing Kevin. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
Kevin glanced over.
“That’s Alyssa Ashcroft, a field reporter for the Raccoon City newspaper.
Sharp tongue, sharp style—she’s not a woman you want to mess with.
You sure you want to go flirt?”
Joseph nodded and walked over, trying to greet her.
“Hey, beautiful.
Hello.”
“Get lost,” Alyssa snorted immediately.
“Okay.” Joseph’s head drooped instantly.
Under the good-natured laughter of his coworkers, he ran off.
That reporter was way too fierce.
“Ma’am, your red wine is here.” The bar’s sweetheart—Cindy Lennox, a sweet waitress—walked up with a tray and placed the prepared drink on the counter.
“Thanks.” Alyssa nodded, still writing furiously, as if she were drafting something important.
Thunk.
The door opened again.
Eddie staggered in.
Jill hurried over to support her boyfriend.
“Eddie, you don’t look very well.”
“I’m fine.
I just want to eat something.” Eddie spoke boldly.
“Miss, bring me everything edible you’ve got here.
Tonight’s on me—everyone drink whatever you want!”
“Hey, it’s you—the big eater!” Kevin greeted him with a grin.
“You’re really punctual.”
“Director Eddie, you’re too polite.” Uncle Mark also greeted him warmly.
In all his years as head of security, Eddie was the only Umbrella researcher he’d ever met who was this easy to talk to.
Jill shook her head, not knowing why her boyfriend had changed so much—and seemed to have gotten even stronger.
Only Alyssa, the field reporter, watched Eddie thoughtfully from the side, as if she were trying to recall some kind of news lead.
This scene felt like she’d seen it somewhere before… but she couldn’t remember where.
Eating a lot?
Something like that had happened in some news she’d covered.
She shouldn’t have forgotten it—yet her head started to ache.
The harder she thought, the more it hurt, and with it came a faint, unsettling palpitation.
It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
