The moment Shen Shuyue got up, she heard her parents calling for her.

Downstairs, there was a commotion. The voices of many people discussing excitedly drifted into Shen Shuyue’s ears.

“Is this relief supplies transported by the army? Eight whole trucks of food! My goodness, they’ve been delivered right to the entrance of our family compound. Are they for everyone here?”Full novel: Commander, Your Wife Has Sent Your Childhood Sweetheart Flying Again! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“We’re saved! We’re saved! We can finally live a better life!”

“There must be meat in there, right? There’s so much stuff. Surely we’ll each get several sacks, right?”

“I hope they give us more meat.”

“Mom, I want to eat meat. We haven’t had meat at home in ages. Can we have some tonight?”

“Of course, of course! The army has brought us so much food. We’ll definitely have meat tonight.”

“Should we go get our sacks first and come back?”

“Where do we line up? When are they going to start distributing the food?”

The women were all worked up.

This was the first time Shen Shuyue’s parents had come to the family compound, and they had no idea which building their daughter lived in.

After getting out of the car, the couple looked around. Once they asked someone for directions, they went straight upstairs to find Shen Shuyue.

When Shen Shuyue opened the door for her parents, people downstairs were still discussing them.

“How do we get Shen Shuyue?”

“Weren’t those two people responsible for transporting supplies for the army?”

“Why are they looking for Shen Shuyue?”

The moment Shen Shuyue saw her parents, she opened her arms and hugged them.

“Dad, Mom, what brings you here?”

“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I could’ve gone downstairs to meet you.”

Shen Shuyue’s father was named Shen Haisheng, and her mother was Jiang Meining.

She also had an older brother who was currently helping their parents manage the family business.

Jiang Meining hadn’t seen Shen Shuyue for a long time and had missed her terribly.

The moment she saw her daughter, she lovingly reached out and caressed Shen Shuyue’s cheek.

“My poor girl, you’ve suffered here.”

“Have you been eating well? Have you been getting enough to drink?”

“What’s so good about this little place? Your grandfather insisted on having you marry here.”

“What kind of miserable life are you living?”

“Look at the clothes you’re wearing. When you were at home, when did you ever wear anything like this?”

Jiang Meining sat down on the sofa and looked at Shen Shuyue, then glanced around the cramped two-bedroom apartment. Her heart ached for her daughter.

What was so good about this shabby little place?

Her daughter was so beautiful and outstanding, yet Qiu Chengyue still didn’t like her. It made Jiang Meining unhappy.

Shen Shuyue smiled.

“I’m doing just fine.”

“Mom, why did you and Dad come all the way here?”

Jiang Meining took her daughter’s hand and smiled.

“Wanzhou City was affected by the floods, and a lot of livestock died from disease, right?”

“People outside are afraid to buy meat now because they’re worried about getting infected.”

“So your father and I went to another place and bought some food for you.”

“The livestock there didn’t get sick, so the meat is perfectly safe to eat. The vegetables are fresh too, and all the other food is clean.”

Shen Haisheng looked at his daughter with a satisfied smile.

His daughter was the most outstanding and beautiful girl of all.

Living in such a small place had indeed made her suffer.

They would help her as much as they could.

“We also brought seafood. You like crabs, squid, and shrimp, so we packed them in ice to keep them frozen. You can put them in the refrigerator and eat them little by little.”

Shen Shuyue’s nose suddenly tingled.

Her parents were so good to her.

At the same time, someone from the army had already gone to find Qiu Chengyue and Political Commissar Zhou.

Political Commissar Zhou and Qiu Chengyue were discussing some matters when a soldier came over and asked where they should store the disaster-relief supplies that had just arrived and when they would be distributed to the military families in the compound.

Both Qiu Chengyue and Political Commissar Zhou were stunned.

“Disaster-relief supplies? They just arrived?”

“We never received any notice that relief supplies were being delivered today.”

Political Commissar Zhou was extremely puzzled.

The floods had already receded. Why were relief supplies being delivered now? This had never happened before.

The soldier replied, “They’re here. Just now, eight large trucks loaded with supplies arrived at the entrance of the family compound. They’re still parked there.”

“There’s a huge amount of stuff. Eight entire trucks.”

“I heard there’s also a lot of meat, all packed in ice.”

Qiu Chengyue was puzzled as well.

The two men exchanged a glance before hurrying toward the family compound.

Before they even reached the entrance, they could already see eight large trucks parked there.

The cargo was covered tightly with tarps, but it was still obvious that they were carrying food supplies.

Political Commissar Zhou’s mouth fell slightly open.

“They really are relief supplies.”

“Commander Qiu, why didn’t the higher-ups say anything about sending this much food?”

“Where are we supposed to store all of it?”

There was so much stuff that without a large warehouse, there was no way they could fit it all.

Qiu Chengyue said, “Go ask them.”

Political Commissar Zhou went looking for the person in charge of transporting the supplies.

After searching for quite a while and failing to find anyone, he finally approached one of the truck drivers.

“Comrade, if you were delivering disaster-relief supplies, why didn’t you inform us in advance?”

“Where were these transported from? How much is there? Do you have a manifest? We need one for the inventory records.”

The people from the family compound had also come rushing outside.

As Political Commissar Zhou was asking his questions, some of them shouted loudly,

“Political Commissar Zhou, when are you going to distribute this food to us?”

“Prices have gone up so much that we can’t afford to buy anything outside anymore. We’re practically starving!”

The driver on the truck frowned and spoke up.

“This isn’t disaster-relief food. Who told you it was?”

“This food was prepared by our boss and his wife for their daughter.”

“Our young miss is living in hardship here, and our boss and his wife felt sorry for her, so they sent her some supplies.”

“We’re ordinary civilians. Surely you soldiers aren’t planning to take our young miss’s things, are you?”

Political Commissar Zhou: “Huh?”

Qiu Chengyue: “…”

Everyone around them who had been waiting for the food: “…”

What?

This stuff wasn’t disaster relief?

It was being sent to some wealthy young lady?

Who?

Which young lady needed that much food?

Eight whole truckloads?

How long would it take her to eat all of that?

Just then, Shen Shuyue came downstairs with her parents, chatting and laughing.

When they reached the entrance and saw the eight trucks loaded with food, even Shen Shuyue was stunned.

“Dad, Mom, all this stuff in the trucks is for me?”

“This is what you two called ‘a little something’?”

Jiang Meining smiled.

“The food here isn’t exactly safe to eat, right? So your father and I prepared a little more.”

“Your father and I are going abroad for a while soon, and we won’t be able to come back for some time. If you have plenty of food here, we’ll feel more at ease while we’re away.”

“Given the situation here, you need to stock up on more food.”

“If another flood comes later, at least you won’t have to worry about having enough to eat.”

Shen Shuyue’s smile stiffened.

“That’s so much stuff. When am I supposed to finish all of it?”

Qiu Chengyue: “…”

Political Commissar Zhou: “…”

Everyone around them: “…”
