2 minutes later both ships are reconnected and I step out into the skybridge.
‘Exie 2, what’s the location of the last crewman?
Are they still on the bridge?’ [Yes Host.
They have a pistol aimed at the inner door of the airlock.] “Once I get close, hit all the thrusters on the bottom of the ship then stop and immediately hit all the top ones.” A moment later a loud creaking sound came from the skybridge as it warped from the sideways forces acting upon it.
Then the forces reversed.
I managed to hold on and the skybridge didn’t explode.
Wait, I forgot about the artificial grav prolly will keep him from flying and hitting his head.
Damn.
“Exie 2 turn off the artificial grav.
Let me know once he’s distracted.” Inside the bridge, Rolf was momentarily forced towards the floor, into a squat, then felt like he was jumping but it wasn’t his doing.
He momentarily lifted off the floor about 2 feet but the bridge’s high ceilings and artificial grav gradually pulled him back down.
He lands back on his feet but his stomach feels queasy from the sudden shift in inertia, like being on a rollercoaster.
Through the discomfort he manages to regain his composure and remains aimed at the airlock, saying “cmon mofo, it’ll take more than that to get me.” smiling weakly to comfort himself.
The next moment though, he gets more.
The artificial gravity suddenly disengages and he hasn’t activated his magnetic boots, so he slowly, comically lifts off the floor, moving his arms and legs wildly trying to find anything to allow him to gain control of his floating.
Unfortunately it’s all for naught.
The captain chair is just a foot out of reach, if he can get there he can put his feet down and activate his magnetic boots to stick him to the ground.
That way he can effectively defend himself.
I rush to the end of the skybridge and stop right before the door.
“Exie 2?” [Almost.
3 2 1 Go.
Now’s your chance] I nut up and go for it, jumping past the inner door into the cabin of the enemy ship.
The crewman’s flailing is indeed absurd, but he’s still holding a laser pistol so he’s gotta go.
Quickly.
Since I haven’t been able to throw my spears yet, it’s all a guess, but what are you gonna do?
I arm at the guy and launch the spear at his center mass, hoping it hits.
Since it’s my first try and he’s flailing around and the inertial dampeners are off as well, the spear starts to head wide.
It’s about to miss, dammit.
I desperately activate my ‘call’ power, guiding the spear back on track.
The spear slams into the crewman, piercing clean through, with the other end sticking out his back over a foot.
The spear wedges itself all the way into the central grip.
His eyes widen in shock as he finally notices me and the spear sticking out of his chest.
He raises the gun in my direction, and I dive for cover behind some random boxes.
Thankfully they are sturdy and block the laser, but the light show is insane.
Sparks flying every which way.
So pretty,I resist the urge to touch the sparks.
Slowly the laser fire stops, but I’m not about to stick my face out to see if he’s still there.
Too bad I didn’t think this far ahead.
“Exie 2, what’s his situation?” [Host he’s stopped moving .
Probably excessive blood loss shock.
His body temp is dropping quickly.] With this assistance, I decide to risk it and peek out.
The last crewman is floating in midair, motionless, but spinning slowly.
The pistol is barely in his hand and I’m not sure if he’s playing possum or if he’s really dead, so I instantly run over and strike his pistol holding hand with my second spear.
His gun is sent flying and only a muffled sound comes from him.
Hm not quite dead yet.
At least without a weapon I’m not worried about him anymore.
I slowly stop and realize I’ve survived pirates and even captured their entire ship.
Yanking my spear out of Rolf, I chuck him out the airlock, hitting the close door button.
A rush of emotions explodes out of me.
Realizing I almost died.
again.
“WOO” I yell to bleed off all the excess energy and anxiety.
Shake my hands.
Shake it off.
Shake it off.
My energy level is through the roof.
Wow this feels amazing.
I bet I could smash really good right now, heh.
I’ll find someone to swipe right on once I get back to Luna.
Slowly looking around and realizing this is all mine now, a huge smile brightens up my face at the thought of what’s to come.
Gimme the loot.
Gimme the loot.
After barely a minute of rummaging the adrenaline crash starts and I can feel my hands and legs shaking slightly.
Not enough to stop me, but strangely I feel some yawns as I start to feel tired.
Wth I might need a nap before the big loot.
This ship is easily twice the size of Bessie.
Its gonna take a while to go through the whole thing.
Maybe some food will help me stabilize.
I sit in the bridge of the new ship.
My new ship.
Waiting for my body to calm down, I start scanning my new bridge.
Its so much bigger than Bessie.
But what’s the deal with all these dusty boxes?
Why are they on the bridge and not stowed away somewhere?
Sipping some water from my suit’s onboard hydration system, the shakes seem to have subsided.
I aint no army man.
I’m just a regular guy who transmigrated and gained a spectacular power.
But I think I can get used to this.
Also, I need some close combat training if this is gonna be a regular occurrence for me from here on out.
Unable to wait any longer, I jump up and start checking out my new bridge, eyes gleaming with excitement and expectation.
“Thanks Exie”
