It’s important to know the profit monthly for miners like me is usually only 3000 to 5000 credits a month.
Why go so far from home for a month at a time for less money?
That thought is dashed because the future is looking much much more profitable than 3k to 5k a month.
For sure.
Now that the ship’s fixed and food is secured, let’s fill up the cargo hold and make some money before we get the hell outta here.
The silent sea is beautiful and serene but also desolate.
After such a near death experience, the desire to feel alive is strong.
Hug and hang out with my sister.
Drink a cold beer with friends.
Watch live improv; not from the first row.
That’s social suicide.
“Exie lets go gather some ore and get outta here” [Sure thing.
I suggest calling to heavy metals while moving around.
We could dig to the center but your reservoir probably wouldn’t be sufficient.
If you sense any especially dense sections then pull them up too.] “Yeah that sounds like a plan.
Let’s see how fast we can fill up the Bessie and get home.” [Sense how far away you can call so we can get your powers’ baseline] Nodding, I focus on a rock about 5 meters away, sensing its resonance and calling it to me gently.
It shakes and slowly starts to wobble from side to side and drag itself in my direction.
Stopping and taking a step back, it still wobbles towards me.
Another step back and I can barely make it shake.
It moves imperceptibly, so I stop.
No need to waste time.
‘6ish meters seems to be it.
Do you think it’s grown a meter since yesterday, with all my practice and using up all my mana?
That’ d be great who doesn’t love growth with numerical reinforcement.
[It would seem the case, since we didn’t measure yesterday, lets call your baseline 5m.
Using up all your mana can indeed cause expedited growth.
Estimates were 3-5% growth when you completely drained your reservoir, especially in the initial growth stages.
It slowly drops off over time from many age related factors.
If you don’t use it for a long time it might even start to reduce your reservoir] My hopes confirmed, it’s time to get busy.
I’m gonna use all my mana everyday to get my mana up.
All things now depend on that.
I need to get stronger, fast.
Spreading my hands out and palms down, the resonance of everything around me opens up.
I can even feel Exie wrapped around my bones inside my own body, but lets not get distracted.
Feel the ground.
Feel what’s in it.
Heavies.
Come to me.
Heavy metals and water.
Yes, water too.
The ship’s fuel is also produced at the same time as initial smelting.
The water is vaporized in the initial heating up stage, and electrolized to make hydrogen for the fuel cell and oxygen for life support.
Upside down drops begin to float out of the ground.
Silver rain drops.
Bronze drops.
Ice drops.
And every color in between.
Forming up into a spinning globe beneath my hands, each of them.
Harlem globetrotter.
I step forward calling to the next spot, while the dregs behind me run to catch up with their buddies.
Silver streams now coming out of the ground, mesmerizing beautiful streams of heavy metals.
Valuable metals.
Once the globe is the size of a beach ball, it drops to the ground and I start making the next one while walking in a spiral around the ship.
No need to walk farther away, just to have to carry it back.
Beach ball after beach ball is placed on the ground, each one worth thousands.
By the time 6 are complete and the 7th almost done, my reservoir starts sending out warnings: cramps and headaches.
Getting low.
I don’t want to pass out here, then run out of o2 and die.
Forget that.
Picking up two ‘balls’ and heading for the ship, I relay race until they are all inside the ship.
7 massive cannonballs.
They might roll around.
Thinking this, I squash each of them so they look like those stones from curling, the scandi sport from my previous life..
This way they won’t roll around.
Walking into the bridge I decide not to rest but feel hungry and eat another nutripack.
Beef baby.
I’m never eating a green pack ever again.
Since it’s going to take 6 hours or so to recover my mana, I decide to kill some time doing exercises.
Also 3 nutripacks in a day has me feeling a little bloated.
Better to work it off.
After a steam shower, I’m ready to go again but I have to rest and let my mana recover.
Guess I’ll play some games on my handheld.
Then take a nap.
6 hours later I’m back outside gathering metal spheres again, just a little further out than last time.
This time i 7 and a half are gathered.
Rest and exercise again.
6 hours later 8 globes are collected.
Now I finally start feeling tired and am able to sleep.
The cargo hold is almost full and sweet dreams of the hard working welcome me to bed.
mMmm warm bed kryptonite The first thought after waking up is: “We getting the fuck off this rock today!” I shout it out and jump up in bed.
Time to get the hell outta here.
[morning host, yes big day today!
Water tanks topped off.
The fuel cell is completely full.
Cargo hold 87% full.
Only one or two trips outside and you will be full.
Ready to go.] Exie seems excited to blast off too.
Enough of the survival drama; it’s time to return to your regularly scheduled action/adventure.
After another beef flavor’ breakfast it’s time to go.
Starting off about 100 meters from the ship, I start holding my hands out and calling all the heavies, creating ball after ball of metal.
Sometimes they have greenish tints, sometimes red, and sometimes a kaleidoscope of color.
More and more balls appear as I skip across the surface, clearly in a good mood.
Even humming ‘the sound of music.” Not only are there more of them, they are also slightly bigger than the first day.
10 in total with a small 11th one.
An hour later, that asteroid is getting smaller and smaller in the rear view cameras.
‘Good riddance’
