Fu Yunchuan had spoken. No one would refuse him. He was a rising star in Jinggang’s venture capital world, undefeated and leading Fu Corporation steadily upward. To curry favor with him was to take one step closer to the upper circles.

Besides, Manshan Yunlou required reservations and was a place only the powerful and wealthy could go. Spending started at ten thousand yuan per person; no one would want to pass up a chance like that.

It was clear Fu Yunchuan was sparing no expense for Sang He. He doted on her and took good care of her, even arranging for her to build relationships with her colleagues because he was afraid his little girl might be mistreated at the hospital.Full novel: Coveting on a Spring Night — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The longer Jiang Yin stayed, the more stifled she felt. She wanted to go outside for some air, but Director Zhang was still there, and she couldn’t just leave without permission.

Sang He smiled sweetly as she linked her arm through Fu Yunchuan’s. “My boyfriend’s treating everyone, so don’t be shy. You all have to come!”

The little girl looked especially delicate beside the tall man. She was petite and slender, while he had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a tall, powerful frame. They looked very well suited to each other.

“Your boyfriend is so handsome…” someone praised. “He treats you so well. You can tell he really loves you.”

Sang He could feel how much the man doted on her, and her whole face seemed to glow. She turned to Director Zhang. “Director Zhang, I haven’t been feeling well lately. Could I request the office next door?”

Director Zhang’s expression shifted slightly, and everyone in the office immediately looked toward Jiang Yin.

That was the department director’s office, which Jiang Yin had to herself. She was usually easygoing and often worked alongside everyone else at their desks.

Sang He had thought the office was unoccupied.

Lin Chuyi had been frowning the entire time. Sang He had taken the spot she’d been offered for further training, and now she was throwing her weight around and trying to take someone else’s office, too.

Lin Chuyi was close to Jiang Yin and couldn’t hold back any longer. “That office belongs to Director Jiang.”

At that, Sang He looked a little embarrassed. She pressed her lips together, seeming completely innocent. “Oh, I thought no one was using it… I’m sorry.”

She looked at Jiang Yin with an apologetic expression. “Director Jiang, I didn’t know that was your office. And you even saved me that night. I really didn’t mean to.”

Sang He seemed flustered. She glanced around; the only empty spot was beside the restroom.

Her little face stiffened for a moment. She looked at Fu Yunchuan beside her, seeming aggrieved, and lowered her voice. “It looks like that’s the only place left. I-I’ll sit there, then.”

With that, Sang He picked up her things and started toward the spot.

The next second, Fu Yunchuan caught her by the hand.

Sang He looked back at him in confusion, her dark eyes clear and innocent. “Brother Yunchuan?”

“You’re pregnant. That spot is close to the restroom, where there are lots of germs. It’s not good for a pregnant woman, and it’s in a draft, so you could catch a chill.” Fu Yunchuan spoke gently. “You can’t afford to take any risks right now.”

Then he looked at Director Zhang, his voice turning cool. “Hehe is pregnant. Have Dr. Jiang make do and move to that desk.”

He pointed to the spot beside the restroom.

His voice was calm, but it carried the absolute authority and power of someone accustomed to giving orders. This wasn’t a suggestion. It was a command.

Lin Chuyi spoke up. “That’s the department director’s office. I’m not sure that would be appropriate…”

Director Zhang cut in, settling the matter once and for all. “Let’s do that. She’s pregnant, so we should be careful. Jiang Yin, make do for now. You like working here with everyone anyway.”

After all, Fu Yunchuan was the big donor who had given two hundred million yuan on Sang He’s behalf. Director Zhang knew which way the wind was blowing. It was only an office; if they gave it up, so be it.

“Dr. Jiang, Hehe is pregnant. As an obstetrician, you should know that pregnant women are physically fragile—especially given Hehe’s particular condition, which you understand.”

Fu Yunchuan looked at Jiang Yin and, unusually, offered an explanation. “Dr. Jiang, surely you’re not going to quibble with a young girl?”
