001: [Ding! Congratulations, Host! Your blackening value has decreased by 5 points, current blackening value is 85!]

Lu Yue: [It’s only 5 points, let’s not lower our standards.]

Lu Yue: [Well, soon.]

001 didn’t know when Lu Yue meant “soon,” but he was always sure of what he said. It was fine for 001 to just sit back and watch.

Before leaving, Lu Yue deliberately buttoned up his shirt to the top to cover the red bruise on his neck.

Although he still felt a bit uncomfortable after the hangover, Lu Yue still had to go to the company. Yesterday was supposed to be a discussion with Mr. Wang about cooperation, but he ended up being drugged. If only he hadn’t let Zhou He go out, maybe he could have helped him handle the alcohol.

Thinking of the assistant who always stood silently beside him, Lu Yue suddenly felt a familiar feeling surge in his heart. He always felt that his assistant was becoming different, no, he was becoming more and more like He Lang.

Lu Yue shook his head and smiled bitterly. He Lang had just appeared in his dream yesterday, a dream that felt so real that it didn’t seem like a dream.

He believed it was real. He Lang really came to find him. And now, all he had to do was to get close to Deng Hui and find out the truth.

When Deng Hui received Lu Yue’s call, he wasn’t too surprised. He had someone keeping an eye on his side, so he naturally knew about yesterday’s failed negotiation with Mr. Wang. Hearing that Lu Yue’s assistant had kicked someone, hmph, what a stupid move.

Offending Wang Weishan, Lu Yue couldn’t find any other partners in the end. So, now he was coming to beg him again?

So when Lu Yue said “Let’s meet,” Deng Hui readily agreed.

“Sure, let’s meet at the usual place.” The so-called “usual place” was the café where they often discussed business during that time.

Lu Yue arrived at the company in the morning, first holding a meeting and assigning tasks to the department managers, then turning to his assistant and calling, “Zhou He.”

Upon hearing the name, the tall figure paused slightly, then calmly nodded. “Mr. Gu, what’s the matter?”

“I’ve got some things to deal with in the next few days, so I might not be able to come to the company. You’ll be accompanying Manager Wang during this time,” Lu Yue spoke calmly, his eyes looking peaceful, but there was something mysterious in them that made people feel a bit uneasy.

“What about the financing matter? I’m sorry, Mr. Gu, I messed up yesterday,” the assistant inquired.

“It’s okay, you don’t need to worry about that. I’ve already found the right person for it,” Lu Yue replied seemingly nonchalantly.

“The right person?” The assistant’s tone suddenly displayed a hint of curiosity.

“It’s Deng Hui,” Lu Yue answered as he placed the files on the desk into the drawer. “The head of Hongzhi.”

Deng Hui?

The nearly pitch-black pupils of He Lang slightly contracted, resembling a dangerous beast that was accidentally provoked.

“I’ve already mentioned it in the meeting. I’ll secure the investment in the next few days, and the company’s affairs are already arranged. I have a meeting scheduled, so I have to go now,” Lu Yue glanced at his wristwatch and passed by his silent assistant.

As Lu Yue’s figure disappeared, the assistant’s gaze lingered behind for a long time.

Lu Yue couldn’t be certain that Deng Hui was the one who killed He Lang, but he was the prime suspect.

Previously, there was no favorable evidence found from the body and the scene and even this morning, there was still no clue from the surveillance. The only option was to focus on Deng Hui himself.

001: [Host, are you not afraid that the male lead will misunderstand when you approach Deng Hui like this? He’s following you right behind.]

Lu Yue: [What’s there to fear, darling? I’m doing this to find out the truth behind his death and save the company we built together. He won’t misunderstand. Please trust my acting skills!]

Lu Yue arrived at the agreed location, adjusted his expression, and then stepped inside.

Deng Hui was already seated there, and upon seeing the approaching man, he curled his lips and smiled,, “Mr. Gu has time to see me now?” His demeanor clearly indicated that he still harbored resentment over the last time Lu Yue had security chase him away.

Lu Yue’s expression stiffened for a moment, then quickly returned to normal as he replied, “Last time, I was in a bad mood. I hope Mr. Deng won’t take offense.”

“Oh, what made you upset?” Deng Hui smiled as he shook Lu Yue’s hand, feeling the overly smooth touch, which immediately distracted up his thoughts. Previously, he had to force Lu Yue to be with him, but it was limited to holding hands and such, never progressing to a kiss.

From start to finish, Lu Yue belonged to He Lang. But now that he’s dead…

Lu Yue cursed Deng Hui’s ancestors in his heart. How dare this murderer flirt with him so shamelessly!

001: [Host, keep your cool! Don’t blow your cover!]

Suppressing his anger, Lu Yue continued playing his role.

Though Deng Hui’s touch was repulsive, Lu Yue refrained from pulling his hand away.

He simply looked at him and said, “He Lang is dead.”

His tone was neither heavy nor light as he stared directly into Deng Hui’s eyes, testing him.

If Deng Hui’s expression immediately changed, then He Lang’s death would definitely be related to him.

“Oh, he’s dead? When did this happen?” Deng Hui paused for a moment, then looked at him in surprise, not showing any hint of panic.

Lu Yue observed him for a while before finally saying, “It happened a while ago. He died in an accident.”

The last few words left a bitter taste in Lu Yue’s mouth. Deng Hui responded, “Let’s not dwell on these matters. He Lang is dead, but you still have me, don’t you?”

Deng Hui inwardly sneered while soothing Lu Yue’s concerns with a gentle voice, but his fake smile can make people feel sick.

Lu Yue composed himself and changed the subject, “I’m here this time to discuss cooperation with you. It’s been many days, what are your thoughts?”

Finally getting to the point, Deng Hui smiled evilly and said: “Cooperation isn’t difficult, but you know what I want.”

Lu Yue took a deep breath and said, “As long as you agree to cooperate, I’ll agree to any of your demands.”

Deng Hui probably didn’t expect Lu Yue to be so eager all of a sudden, considering he had been hesitant and reluctant before. Perhaps he was truly anxious now.

“Good, I want you to be mine. Don’t treat me like you did before. You understand what I mean, don’t you?”

Under Deng Hui’s aggressive gaze, Lu Yue felt uneasy but nodded nonetheless. Once you take a step forward, you can’t withdraw it.

Seeing the nod from the man, Deng Hui’s gaze roamed unreservedly, taking in Lu Yue’s expression from start to finish, finally lingering on his thin and soft lips. The cruelty in his eyes intensified.

“Since that’s the case, I’ll take a little interest first.”

Before Lu Yue could react, his lips were bitten. Deng Hui nibbled on those lips, indulging in his lewd play, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.

Lu Yue clenched his fists tightly. Deng Hui was clearly humiliating him. But if he wanted to find clues from him, he had to endure it.

Fortunately, Deng Hui knew this was in a public place, so the kiss was over in a few minutes. After the kiss, he admired Lu Yue’s embarrassed and restrained expression while saying with a smile, “I have something to attend to today, so I’ll leave now. I’ll come find you tomorrow.”

As Deng Hui left, the first thing Lu Yue did was run to the restroom.

That dead man actually put his dirty tongue in his mouth! Lu Yue recalled the feeling just now, feeling it was worse than kissing He Lang’s corpse.

Lu Yue: [By the way, what’s Deng Hui’s current condition? Wasn’t he also drugged? How come he seems fine?]

001: [There’s not much drug residue in his body, he only occasionally experiences dizziness.]

Lu Yue: [So, it’ll be a while before he loses his clarity of mind?]

001: [Yes, what do you plan to do, Host?]

Lu Yue: [Of course, to make him confess voluntarily…]

As Lu Yue talked with 001 in his mind, he quickly made his way to the cubicle.

001: [Host! The male lead is coming over——]

001’s excited machine voice sharpened a bit, causing a headache for Lu Yue. And the next second, the cubicle door was pushed open——
