Mianmian was stunned by my display of power.

Not long ago, when she followed Jiang Jun to confront me, I was fighting a lonely battle. Now, I could mobilize the entire Jiang household; I clearly had Jiang Shitian’s backing. Mianmian ground her teeth in fury.

As the police arrived, panic finally set in.Full novel: Dangerous Liaisons: I’m So Poor, All I Have is Money! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Jun-ge, save me! Come here! Mianmian is scared…” She put on her best damsel-in-distress act, and I could see Jiang Jun’s heart breaking for her.

He moved to rush to her side, but I stepped firmly into his path. I addressed the officers with practiced authority: “We are the ones who called. I am Zhou Li, the daughter-in-law of the Jiang family, and this is my husband—Jiang Jun.”

I placed heavy emphasis on our titles and our legal bond. This pinned Jiang Jun to the spot; he couldn’t very well run to a mistress while I was declaring him my husband to the law. He opened his mouth several times to speak, but the words died in his throat. He couldn’t afford to lose face like this.

Recognizing our status, the officers were polite. “Hello, Mrs. Jiang. You reported a disturbance outside the residence. Where is the individual in question?”

I turned my gaze toward Mianmian. She shot me a murderous look and attempted to strike first. “No one is causing a disturbance! I’m here to see Jun-ge! Someone is making false reports to the police. Arrest her! Arrest that bitch!”

She pointed a shaking finger at me. “That bitch is a homewrecker! She’s the fox spirit who broke up the love between me and Jun-ge! She thinks she can just spread her legs and get the Jiang family’s money! Jun-ge doesn’t even look at her!”

Jiang Jun went pale. He clearly hadn’t expected Mianmian to be so unhinged in public. He looked at me, his expression frozen in a mask of horror. The police looked at Mianmian with growing suspicion.

In the nearby bushes, I saw the constant flicker of camera flashes. The media was capturing every second. I glanced at Aunt Lan.

Aunt Lan understood immediately. She walked straight up to Mianmian and delivered a stinging slap that sent the woman reeling. After the blow, Aunt Lan raised her hands toward the police. “Officer, I surrender. I’m just a simple woman who can’t stand hearing a stray hen clucking and disturbing my masters’ peace. Take me away.”

“This is the Jiang family’s chief housekeeper,” I added calmly to the officers. “She is incredibly loyal. The Jiang family will be handling her bail.” By clarifying her high status in the household, I was betting that the police wouldn’t dare mistreat her out of respect for the Jiangs.

Aunt Lan gave me a look of deep gratitude. Uncle Zhong stepped in, adding, “We have a professional legal team. We will send a specialized lawyer to follow up on this immediately.”

The officers nodded, proceeding with their duty but noticeably softening their stance toward Aunt Lan.

Mianmian clutched her face, sobbing uncontrollably. The police requested that both Aunt Lan and Mianmian come to the station to give statements. Mianmian looked at Jiang Jun with tear-filled eyes. “Jun-ge, tell them! Tell them Mianmian isn’t here to cause trouble. I just wanted to see you! Tell them about our relationship!”

Jiang Jun’s resolve crumbled. He couldn’t bear to see her taken away. He called out to the officers. They stopped, waiting for him to speak.

At that moment, a servant approached Uncle Zhong with a phone, whispering a report. Standing right there, I heard it clearly. I reached out for the phone. Uncle Zhong hesitated but eventually handed it over.

As expected, the incident had gone viral. I scanned the live-stream comments; the screen was a toxic mess:

“That’s the actress Mianmian! She’s pretty hot. Support her, bros! Maybe she’ll wear less if we cheer her on.”

“The truth is out! The Jiang wife is the fox spirit! Mianmian, dump the Jiang guy and come to me.”

“The Jiang servants are so violent. Mianmian, come here and let me comfort you.”

“The wife is just a gold-digger. Shameless bitch! Only likes rich guys, never looks at us poor men.”

I bit my lip. With a decisive flick, I turned the live-stream volume to the maximum.

The insults from the phone echoed through the quiet night. On the screen, the comments suddenly stopped as the viewers realized we could hear them.

“Is she… is she watching the stream right now?”

“Hey, beauty, give us a smile. You’re actually hotter than Mianmian. Kick that Jiang guy to the curb.”

I looked at Jiang Jun. He was staring at the phone in shock. Realizing that every word he said would be broadcast to thousands, he swallowed the defense he was about to offer for Mianmian. As the sole heir of the Jiang family, he could not be seen acting a fool on camera.

I turned the phone off and handed it back to Uncle Zhong. I whispered, “This starlet’s fans are mostly just vulgar men. Report the stream, and then arrange for some female netizens to speak up. Let the voice of justice drown out these trolls.”

Uncle Zhong moved aside to make the calls. Jiang Jun didn’t dare defend Mianmian out loud, but he tried to sneak over to the officers. I suspected he was trying to bribe them or claim it was all a “misunderstanding.”

I stepped closer to the police, raising my voice enough for the hidden microphones to catch it. “The sun shines bright, and justice will prevail! Millions of eyes are watching. I trust the officers will handle this according to the law!”

My words acted as a sharp warning. Jiang Jun realized that the media was everywhere. He couldn’t risk a bribery scandal. He shoved his money back into his pocket.

“The Jiang family will fully cooperate,” he said awkwardly to the police. “We hope you punish the wrongdoers while ensuring no innocent people are framed.”

From start to finish, he didn’t dare admit his relationship with Mianmian on camera. Mianmian stamped her feet in a rage.

The police nodded. “Of course.” They led Mianmian and Aunt Lan toward the patrol car. As Mianmian was pushed into the back seat, Jiang Jun tried to follow. Sensing how bad it looked, he called out loudly, “I’m going to check on Aunt Lan!”

Just then, Jiang Shitian’s car pulled up. He stepped out, and the two men met face-to-face.

Jiang Shitian radiated authority. “Stop right there!” he commanded.
