I already have 9 chapters written in advance.
Thank you!
– chapter starts here –
“Yes, Mother Mathron! That is what I am thinking!” Silver said with excitement.
“It does not matter whether the benefit is big or small because we do not have the means to verify it right now. What is important right now is that there is a benefit to doing it! So I think I should still do body training as much as possible. Especially since I can’t get a falna right now. This is the only way to get stronger that is available to me right now.”
“Good! Great! Child, it is good that you have such attention to details!” The old matron exclaimed from excitement, with her face reddening from it too.
“Let’s do it now! You should have rested enough, right?!”
“Yes, Ma’am! On it!” Silver excitedly responded but then stopped awkwardly as he scratched his head.
“So… Erhmm… How do I do it exactly? How do I train my body?”
“Oh, right! I forgot you still don’t know! Hahaha…” The old matron said as she also stopped abruptly with an awkward laugh.
“Well then… Let’s start from the basics. Hmmm… You already ran earlier; I remember you said that. Let me demonstrate a few exercises to you first.”
So the matron just showed him how to do push-ups, squats, curl-ups, and other such simple exercises.
Then she got up and moved to the side and gestured with a hand to Silver for him to try it too.
He followed through and did exactly as the matron did, one by one, while also being corrected by the matron for the proper posture of the exercise.
After a while when he finally got the hang of it, the old matron stopped him again so that he could rest, and then he got to slashing and stabbing.
He repeated it a few times, up until before lunchtime at noon, where he cleaned himself up first.
Those who had gone out to run errands had also gotten back for lunch, and the children playing in the other parts of the yard had also cleaned themselves up before going inside for lunch.
As most kids started running errands, they got more food now.
Most of the time, the kids don’t get paid with money, especially when they do errands in the wet market; they instead get paid with goods like fish, vegetables, and other things.
The people in this port town are quite kind and honest.
The worst a person here would do is actually just thieving.
As for conflicts and fights?
It happens all the time, especially when people get drunk.
But they would just do a brawl and punch each other out of consciousness.
The wild life in the sea and the forest is already dangerous enough.
They don’t need to kill each other at all.
“Remember that you have another training and practice later when you get back from old Sax. So you should rest your body more and only use your head,” the old matron reminded him as Silver got out of the orphanage.
“I will, yeah!” He responded casually.
He is still wearing his old worn-out clothes that were passed down by older kids to him.
Everyone in the orphanage is like him, just wearing hand-me-downs.
But he does plan to buy new ones when he gets more money and sandals too, by the way.
At the library, old Sax did not teach anything new but just continued from yesterday just with added basic subjects like math.
For those basic subjects, Silver pushed through everything as quickly as he could while pretending it was his first, knowing it, pretending to be some kind of genius just so he would not be wasting more time on it.
He still has to go through it, though, because he can’t just “suddenly” know it; he has to get through the process to have a perfect reason for knowing things.
Then he got back to the orphanage as the sun set and the sky became red.
Supper is early in the countryside in his previous life; the same is true for the port town.
He might even just vomit when training; after all, he is only getting started.
Still just starting to get used to it.
Then he meditates just before going to bed.
He did this routine operation every day without stopping for a whole month before he noticed something.
He was beginning to feel like the nutrients he takes from eating with everyone are starting to feel lacking.
So, Silver turned to old Sax to ask about it.
He did not even think about asking the mathron about this because she might just give him more servings of the food they eat in the orphanage, but that isn’t right.
There are many mouths in the orphanage after all.
It would not be right for him to get more when his contribution did not increase.
So, Old Sax, it is.
– at the library –
“Old Sax! I feel like I am not getting enough nutrition, so I thought about trying to go to the forest to get something or even going to the sea near the shore. What do you think? Is it safe?” Silver asked seriously with squinted eyes while doing a thinking pose.
“Oh? You want more meat to fill up some muscles, is it?” Old Sax responded knowingly.
“Your plan is mostly fine. But you can’t go deep, whether in the forest or the sea. Besides, you might not even know how to swim. And catching anything in the sea directly without a net and proper practice is quite hard. Spearing fish or catching them with a fishing rod is a technical skill.”
“What do you mean, I can’t swim?” Silver said with a wronged tone.
“We are people of the sea! We live in a port town, you know!”
“Oh yeah? Children in our place are not allowed to play in the sea. At most, they are allowed to play on the beach, and that is with supervision. Children are not to go into deep enough water at all, so how could they learn how to swim?” Old Sax responded with a snark.
“The reefs in our area do not even reach the water surface, so the waves are too strong. A small child would definitely get swept away by the waves.”
