Yukinoshita, seated in front of Lucian, was a rich young lady, and now Asuna, who’d come to sit behind him, was one too.
He was completely surrounded by rich ladies.
Seemed like he could become a kept man, right?
After all, it was a quick way to make money!
With those strange thoughts running through his head, Lucian walked to his seat.
Seeing her deskmate arrive, Asuna set down her book and greeted him.
“Hello, classmate.
My name is Yuuki Asuna; I just registered today.”
She introduced herself first, then explained that she’d only enrolled that day.
“I’m Lucian, hello.” He nodded in greeting, then sat down in his seat.
“Please take care of me, Lucian.” Asuna quietly committed the name to memory.
“Please take care of me too.” At her words, Lucian answered without turning his head, then took out his phone and went back to it.
Asuna was surprised.
He’d just immediately started playing on his phone?
Was he really that blunt?
His behavior felt a little out of place among the other classmates, who were reading, meditating with their eyes shut, or condensing aura.
Meanwhile, Lucian was on his phone.
He really was an unconventional classmate.
Asuna glanced at the things he’d brought, then noticed the saber propped beside him.
Seeing the blade and the video he was watching, it suddenly clicked for her.
This classmate was studying.
But was that method of studying actually useful?
The stuff taught online couldn’t be very effective, right?
At that thought, Asuna didn’t disturb him.
She lowered her head and went back to her book.
As time slipped by and more classmates arrived, Lucian suddenly seemed to start talking to someone, and that someone was right next to her?
“Good morning, Kato-san.” Lucian’s voice rang out, but he was speaking to the spot right beside her, which made Asuna turn her head on reflex.
And she realized someone had arrived next to her without her noticing.
And this person was strange!
Asuna stared at the girl beside her in astonishment.
“Good morning, Lucian.
And…
good morning to you too, classmate.
I’m Kato.” Kato greeted Lucian, then turned to the astonished Asuna.
“H-hello?” Asuna was a little bewildered.
When had this classmate even gotten here?
“My Talent is rather unique, so I have little presence.
Sorry for startling you.” Kato seemed to notice her surprise and quickly explained.
At that, Asuna understood.
So that was it.
It was her Talent.
“I wasn’t scared, just a little surprised.
If Lucian hadn’t spoken to you, I might not have noticed you at all…” Asuna was now interested in her deskmate.
And it seemed she was from Sakura District too.
What luck.
She’d been worried about not adjusting to the new school, or having no one to talk to.
Now it seemed she needn’t worry.
She’d picked a random empty seat and ended up next to someone from her hometown.
The two of them, seated together, began to chat.
Kato was curious why Asuna had only arrived today.
“Mostly because I came from another city, so it took some time.” Facing the question, Asuna hid nothing.
She’d been caught off guard by the notice that she had to transfer schools.
Because of that, she hadn’t come right away yesterday, only arriving today.
Actually, Asuna had gotten in yesterday afternoon, but by the time she’d settled everything, it was already evening.
“From another city?
Our principal really is something.” Lucian overheard her, and it surprised him quite a bit.
The man’s methods were amazing.
Lucian had thought pulling from nearby schools was impressive, but the principal’s reach extended to other cities?
Asuna didn’t know how to respond to that, since what Lucian said was technically true.
“Well…
the principal is indeed a very capable person.” She didn’t know much about this principal Lucian mentioned, only that he was very powerful.
Otherwise, it would’ve been impossible to gather so many geniuses and pack them all into one class.
Lucian nodded and let it drop.
He wasn’t interested in digging into the affairs of big shots.
All he could think about now was mastering that cool sword technique and then making money.
After scrolling short videos a while longer, Yukinoshita arrived.
When she reached her seat and saw Asuna, she was a little surprised too.
“I didn’t expect you here.” She and Asuna knew each other, naturally; they moved in the same circles, and though they didn’t interact much, they were acquainted.
“Same here.
I didn’t expect to see you either.” A flicker of pleasant surprise crossed Asuna’s eyes at the sight of Yukinoshita.
It really was a happy surprise.
She’d never imagined running into someone she knew here.
Yukinoshita nodded and sat down, but she paused when she saw the blade beside Lucian.
“Why are you studying swordsmanship now?” Does good Talent mean you get to do whatever you want?
Is this guy giving up on martial arts?
“It’s a saber, a saber, not a sword!” At that, Lucian immediately felt the need to correct her.
The blades over in Sakura District were just imitations.
This was the real thing, the one they were all copying.
“A saber?
I see, no wonder.
But aren’t you practicing martial arts techniques anymore?” Corrected as she was, Yukinoshita didn’t dwell on it; she just made a mental note not to slip up again.
“I’ve already learned everything I needed.
Besides, I feel like I can create an even stronger sword technique, so studying this is definitely the right call.
It’ll only take a few days anyway.” Lucian answered her while watching his video.
At Lucian’s casual humblebrag, Yukinoshita didn’t want to say another word.
Good Talent means you get to do whatever you want.
“If we have combat class this afternoon, let’s fight again.
This time I want to try out the moves I learned.” Only then did Lucian look up, his gaze intense on her.
Facing the challenge, Yukinoshita gave him an enormous eye-roll.
Sitting down, she refused.
“I don’t want to fight you.
Go find Yuuki, she uses a sword too.”
Quit tormenting her.
Her stomach still ached faintly whenever she remembered him punching her without hesitation yesterday.
And today the guy wanted to use a saber?
Was that even allowed?
She was genuinely afraid he might suddenly cut at her with it; that would be fatal.
Fighting Lucian was decidedly not a pleasant experience, so she refused.
If he wanted to use a weapon, he could go find Yuuki!
