After learning about Lucian’s family situation, everyone tacitly avoided bringing it up again.
No decent person would deliberately dredge up someone’s painful past.
The break between classes was only ten minutes, so the bell soon rang.
This time a young male teacher came in.
Lucian had an impression of him too; he was the magic teacher the school had specially hired.
“My surname is Lucian.
You can call me Teacher Locke.
Now, everyone take out The Origin of Magic.” The moment he entered, Teacher Locke stated his name and got straight into the lesson.
Though the class was a bit surprised, they quickly took out their magic books and listened closely.
This teacher was clearly a man of action.
His first lesson covered how to meditate efficiently, even how to use Meditation in place of sleep.
At that, Lucian perked up immediately.
Meditation instead of sleep?
That could work, so he listened with extra care.
What’s more, Lucian quickly noticed that a lot of what the teacher covered wasn’t in the books at all, yet he laid it all out for the class.
He was like a merciless lecturing machine, spending the whole period explaining various Meditation methods and ways to quickly store mana.
He also went over how to refine mana while fighting in combat.
For forty minutes he talked without pause, and the students below didn’t dare zone out for a second; all they could do was jot down whatever they didn’t understand.
“All right, that’s it for this class.
Any questions, ask them next period.
Head up to the third floor on your own when the next class starts.” Teacher Locke finished and left right away.
The moment he was gone, the whole class let out a breath.
Someone even complained outright, “That’s ridiculous…
he taught way too fast!”
The pace was simply too quick; a lot of what they heard was only half-understood, so they could only scribble notes frantically, afraid of forgetting something.
Lucian was probably the only one in the class still unsatisfied.
He hadn’t taken a single note, because he’d understood everything the teacher taught.
Just as he was about to take out his phone to scroll videos, someone poked him in the back with a pen.
Lucian turned to look at Kato, who opened her notebook.
“Lucian, you understood all of it, right?”
“What’s up?
Is there something you don’t get?” Lucian looked at the contents of her notebook and understood what she wanted.
Kato smiled like a little fox, put her hands together, and said, “Hehe…
explain it to me again, would you, Lucian?
Please, classmate!”
The others might not have understood, but Lucian definitely had, because his learning Talent was terrifying.
Asking Lucian for this sort of thing was the best move; far faster than asking the teacher.
Beside her, Asuna watched Kato’s antics with some confusion.
She’d only half-understood the lesson too and had taken plenty of notes.
Now Kato was asking Lucian?
Was that right?
Or was there something special about him?
“Let me see, hmm…
it’s simple.” Lucian looked at her notebook and immediately began explaining the parts she didn’t understand.
Seeing that Lucian really did know, Asuna was a bit stunned too.
Was this classmate’s Talent related to magic?
At that thought, Asuna pricked up her ears and listened closely to his explanation.
After all, she hadn’t quite gotten some of what Kato had written down either.
Some others in the class noticed what was happening.
Seeing Lucian explaining the lesson to Kato, they gathered around.
That’s right, there was an incredibly amazing classmate among them.
Lucian’s Talent made him brilliant at learning anything.
Wouldn’t it be better to just ask Lucian directly about whatever they didn’t get?
And so, while he explained things to Kato, more and more classmates crowded in.
Some even asked their own questions, and Lucian answered them all.
In just that short break between classes, Lucian cleared up many of the questions the teacher had covered.
When the bell rang again, everyone moved together up to the third-floor classroom.
When they arrived, the teacher was already waiting.
Once everyone was present, he said, “Ask whatever questions you have from last class, and I’ll answer them.”
At that, the students all asked about the parts they hadn’t understood.
Asuna was with Kato just then, and she couldn’t help asking, “Is Lucian’s academic performance really good?”
His answers earlier had left a deep impression on her, so Asuna was now very curious about it.
“Lucian has a Talent for learning; he gets anything after hearing or seeing it once,” Kato replied, explaining his situation to Asuna.
Asuna was stunned.
It was a Talent?
And understanding something after one listen, wasn’t that too absurd?
No wonder Kato had gone straight to Lucian; wasn’t that far more convenient than asking the teacher?
After all, he understood it after a single hearing!
She could probably guess now why Yukinoshita didn’t want to fight Lucian, likely because after fighting her, he’d learned her techniques…
And she also understood why he kept scrolling those things on his phone.
He was learning!
The magic teacher spent nearly half the class answering questions from the previous lesson, then activated the Magic Circle built into the room.
A huge blue Magic Circle appeared on the floor, and the teacher said, “Next, everyone will meditate within this Magic Circle.”
Lucian looked down at the Magic Circle beneath his feet, and the Eye of Revelation activated on instinct.
Information about the Magic Circle gradually flooded his mind; this one was for support purposes.
Moreover, as long as you had enough mana, you could inscribe it yourself; it just took some magic materials.
Mercury, cinnabar, magic stones…
details about the materials needed to construct the Circle poured into Lucian’s mind.
That told him how to build an identical one.
Sorting through it all, a subtle feeling rose in Lucian’s chest: he’d just learned it, like that?
And this magic didn’t demand much power from the user; it fell under the category of formation magic.
As long as you prepared the materials and drew the Circle, you could invoke it.
The Magic Circle’s effect was simple and direct too: it aided Meditation, letting people quickly enter a focused state and speeding up the pace of magical Meditation.
In more fantastical terms, this thing was a spirit-gathering array, used to aid training!
