Multidimensional Cognitivism and the Contemporary Crisis of the Alliance
Tuni-Ava-Linde-Faslanir-Levag-Linni-Tuni-Ni-Hula
Tuni-Ava-Linde-Faslanir-Levag-Linni-Tuni-Ni-Hula—whose name means "Silver Blood-Red Silver Family Line-Melted Silver Branch-Gold Casting City’s 30th, 15th, and 3rd Generation Descendant-Hula"—was, as his name suggests, born in Gold Casting City. He studied Magic Techniques privately, first in his local Crystal Wall System and later in Wisdom City. His thinking was deeply influenced by the Wanling Sect (Translator’s Note: This refers not to the modern Wanling Sect, but to the orthodox sect for whom Infinite Peak is the Holy Land; the same applies below). Before the Second Intra-System Celestial Wall War, he moved to Wisdom City to escape the persecution and exploitation of independent Mages by the local Witch King’s regime. There, at the Balance Tower and the No Palace, he taught Wanling doctrine and the philosophical foundations of elementary etheric composition. In addition, he often gave lectures at Pomegranate Hall and Golden Leaf Camp.
Hula identified as a "critical realist," valuing metaphysical truth above constructs and ways of knowing. He rejected the assertions on knowledge posited by Rationalism, a priori Idealism, and Evidentialism. For this, he was known as a Neo-Contemplativist and became the leading public voice of that school of thought. He opposed a dogmatic and crude approach to understanding the accumulated knowledge of Magic, which was rife with unexamined conventions, precepts, experiences, and maxims. In agreement with Green-Net-Gadfly-Silver-Leaf on this matter, he insisted that reason and the commandments under the Covenant Law—which, based on his faith, he called divine revelations—were not fundamentally in opposition. He further insisted that as long as they were understood, elaborated, attempted, and experienced, the glory of the ideal could likewise be placed upon the crown of spirituality. Hula strove to warn the Alliance that its duties and rights should not be founded on rules constructed out of the Void. Instead, he argued they should be more firmly rooted in the concept of natural law, which in turn leads to the supreme divinity of spirituality. At the same time, he maintained that contemporary rules of power, science, and the concepts of the ideal were perfectly compatible with the Wanling Sect. This sense of incongruity troubled him deeply throughout his life.
