“Uncle is no longer the same person anymore!”
After contemplating for a moment, everything became clear to Jing Xi.
In the previous storyline, the original host met his end on the same day as the revelation of his special physical stats. In turn, his death made no impact on the subsequent story development.
Today, not only was he very much alive, but he had also incurred Duan Chi’s fancy. With that, there was no way he would not intervene since he was aware that his nephew was studying at the same university.
He asked, “So where is Duan Chi planning to send the male lead?”
System retorted, “They want to transfer to another school!”
Upon hearing that, Jing Xi deadpanned, “Oh.”
“What should we do?” At this juncture, System wanted nothing more than to stop functioning. “Numerous scenarios will occur on the campus, yet the male lead wants to run away?!”
Even so, calmness was still radiating off Jing Xi. “Then, we’ll just have to let them get acquainted in advance. In any case, there’s no chance that male lead of yours can ever extricate himself from that flavor. He’ll eventually return…” After a brief pause, he added, “Oh, right! How many days do I have left until the new semester?”
At this point, System suffered a complete breakdown. “8 days!”
As it said so, it began calculating for the best solution possible.
It was illogical for Jing Xi to take a year break or transfer to another university. Even if he were to choose the former, the male lead would still be resolved to move away since Gese University was situated right in this city. As for the latter, it would bring much inconvenience when he wished to tackle his missions.
Come to think of it, there was an optimal solution… With that in mind, it probed, “Have you ever thought of entering a blood pact with Duan Chi?”
Jing Xi stated, “Explain.”
System responded, “This is one of the Celestial Lupin Clan’s ancient secret techniques that is relatively more complex. To put it simply, blood will first be drawn from both parties. It will then undergo a purification process before being combined with some medicinal drugs. Under the influence of a certain magnetic field, the blood will be injected into both parties’ blood vessels, creating an ‘I only have eyes for you’ effect. Although no one is certain of the principle behind this technique, both parties will carry a subtle scent of the other when successful. But it is more than sufficient in your case since the blood pact will dissipate the other Lupinus Mutants’ desires for your blood.”
With a sarcastic smile, Jing Xi commended it. “Do you know what this sounds like?”
System puzzled, “What?”
Jing Xi answered, “A marked Omega.”
System refuted, “… But you do not have to undergo any heat cycles! Moreover, your scent will also intermingle with that of Duan Chi henceforth. Consequently, the blood pact will be able to assist in stabilizing his emotions and curbing his desire for blood. Doesn’t that sound amazing?” New chapters come out on g.com first.
“Yes, it does sound pretty good,” Jing Xi clarified, “So what’s the purpose of this ceremony?”
In a split second, a tidal wave of guilt washed over System. “They use it for matrimonial purposes. It is said that based on the differences in their physical stats, both parties will form a special connection with telepathic qualities. The higher their compatibility, the more obvious it will be.”
Jing Xi jeered, “There you have it.”
System countered, “It is not like I am telling you to get married for real. Anyway, I have even come up with a reason for you — You would like him to do you a favor since you have special physical stats and do not wish to be preyed upon by other Lupinus Mutants at all times.”
Jing Xi challenged, “Would the Celestial Lupin Clan even be willing to hold this ceremony without registering our marriage?”
After a slight pause, System affirmed, “… You should still register your marriage.”
Jing Xi refused, “No way, I’m not doing it.”
Despite his response, System was not feeling too down in the dumps.
From the moment it joined hands with this host on this mission, it had long since come to terms with him not listening to its suggestions.
With that said, Jing Xi began to unwind, relax, and take time for himself. Once he was done, he put on his clothes and made his way to the balcony in the bedroom.
At this moment, the employees from the interior design firm were still pegging away at the remaining two areas in the garden. As his eyes swept across the garden, he began placing an order for some plants. Only then did he take a seat on a chair and ask System for the male lead’s schedule.
System informed in a soft voice, “Apart from traveling to and from work religiously every day, he and his two childhood friends have not ventured anywhere else on Howe. As for the rest of his Lupinus Mutant friends, they ran off to the other side of the planet as soon as they could when your escapade got out and decided to return home once they have had their fill of fun. That was also why he has only acquainted with several colleagues in the office across this entire time.”
From this bleak and desolate situation, Jing Xi was able to pinpoint a tract of possibility. “Isn’t it a pity not to see what Howe has to offer after staying on this planet for such a long time?”
System wondered, “What do you mean by that?”
Ignoring its question, Jing Xi unlocked his phone and sent a message to Jin Yumeng.
In the wake of all that occurred at the castle, Jin Yumeng locked herself in her room on the grounds of “wanting to calm down.”
Now that she had gotten past the saddest moment of her life a few days back, all that remained were some traces of disappointment and frustration. Upon receiving his message, she instantly sent him a response, indicating that she was all right. New chapters come out on novelping.com first.
[Jin: What about you? I heard your parents kicked you out of the house?]
This was something she had been following closely as soon as she returned.
All the grudges between the Zhou and Yi families back then were swiftly disseminated by those dandies, to the point where the entire social circle soon became aware of it. Yet, she could not tell whether they were being far too mouthy, or had actually formed some sort of relationship with Yi Zhou. In any case, who knew how President Yi would react when he returned to find all his shameful past had been exposed to the masses, especially when he had such an obsession with keeping up appearances?
However, Jin Yumeng was not exactly sure what Yi Zhou’s goal was.
Even though the plan to forge an alliance through marriage was disrupted, the losses the Yi family incurred were, in fact, not significant. Even so, his actions thrust himself into the limelight, forcing the Yi family to keep their guard up. Without a smidgen of power, what could he ever do henceforth?
With that in mind, she sent him yet another message.
[If there is anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.]
Without any hesitation, Jing Xi sent over a bunch of words.
[I’ll be fine, don’t worry. But you should be getting yourself ready instead, as certain individuals will still try their luck at persuading you. For instance, that little brother of mine will definitely appear at your place to apologize to you. Let’s see, he might just pull a stunt like ‘standing gloomily at your door if you insist on not seeing him,’ or something along that line.]
As soon as she visualized that scene, Jin Yumeng’s brows snapped together instantly. Immediately right after, she noticed she had received another message from him.
[Thanks for the thought, but I have no need of any assistance at the moment. After all, I’m planning to go on a trip to take my mind off these trifles before the start of a new semester.]
[Jin: Where to?]
[I’m not quite sure yet since I’m still browsing through a travel guide. Anyways, I suggest you do the same to avoid encountering some annoyance.]
Concurring with his suggestion, Jin Yumeng continued the conversation before considering where she would like to visit.
A fluttering trace of a smile grazed Jing Xi’s lips as he instructed System to keep an eye on her.
Once it confirmed the female lead’s chosen destination, he then requested the hobbies and interests of those three Lupinus Mutants. Followed on, he began narrowing the list of areas in the place the female lead was planning to visit down to those they would surely love to visit. Only then did he personally write two travel advertisements in varying styles and motioned System to strategically place them before any two of the Lupinus Mutants.
System wondered, “What about the last one?”
Jing Xi answered, “Just leave him be. Otherwise, you’d just be giving yourself away.”
Upon hearing that, System could only go about executing his instructions obediently. Yet, it could not help but doubt, “Is this really going to work?”
Jing Xi vaguely responded, “It should be able to pique their interest. Let’s wait and see.”
Unbeknownst to them, this waiting game would eventually drag on for three days.
