As soon as Shu Jianyue left, Fu Jinnian slapped Zhu Su across the face. “Didn’t you say it was merely a Divine Beast cub? Is that a cub?”
“Does your family’s cub… does a cub from your family look like that?!”
“Idiot! You didn’t even gather proper information, and now you’ve paid the price yourself, haven’t you?”
Zhu Su stood dazed.
He had just been slapped in the face!
Yet, no matter how furious he was, he dared not vent it, fearing Fu Jinnian’s next slap might beat him to death.
He had known there was an adult Divine Beast, but how could he have known it was this terrifying? Even with so many of them, they were no match for it.
“Then, Elder Fu, that Divine Beast cub by her side… are we still going to seize it?”
Fu Jinnian sneered. “If you have the capability, go seize it yourself. This old man will not be accompanying you.” With that, he turned and left.
Although he had failed to capture the Divine Beast cub, his trip had not been entirely in vain, having gained such a high-grade Danyao.
Recalling that he still had to find a way to obtain that Longgu, Zhu Su felt utterly miserable.
Indeed, one shouldn’t be too greedy—retribution had arrived.
Hunyuan Xianzong was completely aware of everything that had occurred outside Fuchenshan. Looking at the images within the Chuanlingjing, Yu Yangzi shook his head. “If the Fengxian imperial family loses that Longgu, they probably won’t survive a hundred years.”
The Great Elder let out a sigh. “Thus, when it comes to descendants, quality matters far more than quantity.”
Yu Yangzi gave him a wry, exasperated glance. The phrasing was crude, but hit the nail right on the head.
“Sect Master Senior Brother, we must keep a tight watch on the disciples within the sect. If that little ancestor sets her sights on something from our sect, that would be terrible.” The more the Great Elder thought about it, the more he felt he needed to give the disciples another stern warning.
“What about the matter with the Second Elder?”
Yu Yangzi lowered his gaze. “Since he has so much free time, find something for him to do so he doesn’t constantly dwell on things he shouldn’t.”
The Great Elder pondered for a moment, then nodded, stood up, and left.
The only task that could keep the Second Elder so occupied that he had no time for other thoughts was copying scriptures in Konglingdong.
Reflecting on how the bottleneck that had stalled him for so long had faintly begun to loosen ever since he consumed the Danyao traded from Fuchenshan, Yu Yangzi rose, exited the sect, and headed toward Fuchenshan.
Just as Shu Jianyue picked up Yanxi, she sensed Yu Yangzi’s arrival. She rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Xixi, Mother is going out to meet a guest. Play with your brother for a bit; Mother will be right back, okay?”
“Mother, hug…” Yuchuan had already felt left out because their mother hugged his little sister instead of him upon returning. Seeing her set his sister down, he immediately clamored for a hug.
Shu Jianyue tapped his forehead. “Be good and play at home. Mother is just stepping out for a moment and will be right back.”
Yet, no sooner had she stepped out than Yuchuan tugged on Chaotian, intent on following her.
Chaotian looked at him helplessly. Curse this damned Bloodline Suppression.
“Little Master, if you act like this and Master finds out, we’ll be punished.”
“Bad guy, Chaotian!” Yuchuan pointed in the direction Shu Jianyue had left, insisting that he follow.
Chaotian had no choice but to instruct Tiankong to watch Yanxi carefully while he took Yuchuan along and followed behind.
Approaching Yu Yangzi, Shu Jianyue asked, “What brings the Sect Master to Fuchenshan?”
Yu Yangzi produced a crescent-knife-like Lingqi and said, “This Sect Master wishes to trade with you for some Danyao. This is a Tianpin Lingqi; I wonder if it can be exchanged?”
Shu Jianyue looked at the Lingqi in his hand. Although she had no use for it, the subordinates on Fuchenshan certainly could use it.
“It can, but only for three pills.”
“Sect Master, your Hunyuanzong has traded for quite a few Danyao these past days. Why are you coming to trade for them yourself?”
Yu Yangzi gave a soft laugh. “Those were exchanged using the sect’s resources, so naturally, they belong to the sect. Even as Sect Master, according to the rules, I can only be allocated two.”
After dividing the pills among Hunyuanzong’s Peak Masters and elders, the surplus was sent to the Alchemy Peak for them to analyze, to see if they could replicate them.
Yet, after wasting nearly ten pills, the Alchemy Peak had failed to decipher even a single spirit herb within them.
The Lingqi in this Danyao was exceptionally pure, reaching a level that even Juepin Danyao could not achieve.
If it could be concocted, that would naturally be marvelous; if not, it could not be forced.
It was precisely because of the pure Lingqi within the Danyao that one’s cultivation could be easily elevated without any side effects.
Therefore, he wanted to trade for more to secure an extra layer of assurance during his breakthrough.
Shu Jianyue gave a thumbs-up and praised, “Fair and just.”
“I’ll give you another bottle of Lingjiang. It has the same efficacy as the Danyao. Sect Master can take it back and try it.”
To make the so-called Danyao, she still had to boil and knead them. As for this Lingjiang, it was merely juicing Spirit Fruit—far more convenient.
Since it was free, there was no reason to refuse. Yu Yangzi nodded. “If Lady Shu has enough Danyao on hand, this Sect Master has another item he wishes to trade.”
Having made a special trip out here, he naturally hadn’t come merely to exchange for three Danyao.
To achieve a breakthrough, how could three pills be enough?
Shu Jianyue raised an eyebrow. “Let me see it.”
Yu Yangzi produced a trident and said, “This trident is a Juepin Lingqi. Only those with a Leilingmai can wield it. However, in Hunyuan Xianzong—or rather, throughout Dongyuan Dalu—lightning-attribute Spirit Veins rarely appear.”
Lightning-attribute!
Wasn’t this perfect for Yuchuan?
And a Juepin Lingqi at that. Presumably, there weren’t many like it in Dongyuan Dalu.
After a moment’s thought, Shu Jianyue took out three boxes. “Inside are three types of Danyao, thirty pills in total. How about trading them for this trident?”
Yu Yangzi was astonished. He had thought that obtaining a dozen or so would be the limit, never expecting her to offer so many.
Although this trident was a Juepin Lingqi, anyone without a lightning-attribute Spirit Vein could not use it at all, making it practically useless and quite a white elephant.
Looking at the boxes before him, the corners of Yu Yangzi’s mouth twitched slightly. Who stores Danyao in wooden boxes like this? Weren’t they afraid of the Lingqi dissipating?
“Many thanks.”
“I wonder how much of this Lingjiang the Lady has?” He had just opened it to take a look; its Lingqi density was on par with the Danyao, yet it felt even purer.
Shu Jianyue raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Sect Master, just arrange for someone to come trade. Simply notify Fuchenshan in advance.”
After seeing Yu Yangzi off, just as Shu Jianyue was about to return to Fuchenshan, she sensed an unusual disturbance nearby.
“Master…” Chaotian barely managed to cry out before being sucked into an unknown space.
Seeing this, Shu Jianyue immediately gave chase, darting inside just as the spatial entrance closed.
After a bout of dizziness, she began hurtling downward. Seeing that she was about to smash into the ground, Shu Jianyue quickly reacted, attempting to circulate her energy to suspend herself in midair. However, she discovered that the gravitational pull of this space favored her so intensely that it forcibly dragged her down to kiss the earth.
“Damn it…” Shu Jianyue patted the bits of grass from her face, stood up, and shouted, “Chaotian…”
“Chaotian?”
She found that whether she called out in her mind or yelled aloud, there was no response.
Shu Jianyue expanded her mental perception to probe in one direction, finally spotting Chaotian to the southwest, with Yuchuan held in his arms.
Immediately after, however, she noticed a Yinyue Xionglang standing on the mountain peak opposite the two. Wolves were pack animals; the appearance of one meant an entire pack was present.
Moreover, a Yinyue Xionglang was at the Jieshi-stage from birth. Born at the Jieshi-stage and intensely united, they were certainly not a force to be underestimated.
If Chaotian were alone, even if he couldn’t annihilate them all with his abilities, escaping would not have been an issue.
The problem, however, lay in the presence of that little brat, Yuchuan.
