Lu Jinzhou felt that perhaps he had never truly shown his temper before, which made Zhou Wanning think he was too easygoing.

“It seems you don’t want to sleep,” he said, his tone no longer as gentle as before.

Zhou Wanning leaned against the doorframe. She only wanted to correct this mistake and get back on the right track. She was willing to accept her misfortune and losses, as long as he would let her go.Full novel: Deliberately Seizing Joy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lu Jinzhou moved swiftly, so fast that Zhou Wanning hadn’t even reacted before he grabbed her wrist and threw her back onto the bed.

“Wanning, if you were so worried about Zhou Leyu, why didn’t you tell her I was in your room just now? You watched her leave like a fool without stopping her. Do you know what that means?”

He looked down at her with contempt in his eyes.

It meant nothing.

Zhou Wanning picked up a pillow and threw it at Lu Jinzhou. “What does it mean? It means you’re a scumbag, you’re shameless. Get out of here, get out of my home!”

He couldn’t shift the blame onto her. It wasn’t her fault, it wasn’t, it wasn’t.

Zhou Wanning glared at Lu Jinzhou angrily. “I won’t let you control me anymore, Lu Jinzhou. If you touch me again, I’ll call the police. I will definitely call the police to arrest you.”

Lu Jinzhou watched her expressionlessly, like a fighter ready to go all out against him.

He picked up his phone. “This is the number of the police chief in Haicheng. Do you want me to call for you?”

His tone was as casual as if they were discussing everyday matters.

“Ningning, I really like your courage, but have you thought about the consequences of challenging me?”

Zhou Wanning’s teeth chattered, but she couldn’t utter a complete sentence.

“Since you’re being so disobedient, I don’t need to be gentle with you.”

He tore off his towel, knelt on the bed with one leg, and gripped her neck. “Enjoy it.”

Zhou Wanning only saw his shadow descending before he pinned her hands down, leaving her no time to resist.

“Lu Jinzhou, don’t touch me, you bastard, get away!”

“Go on, keep cursing. I like the way you curse. You’d better wake up everyone in the building and let them all come see, okay? Hmm?”

Madman.

How had Zhou Wanning provoked this madman?

“No more cursing?”

Zhou Wanning knew she stood no chance against him in a direct confrontation at this moment. She sobbed softly, “Don’t do this, I’m scared.”

Lu Jinzhou lifted her up, removed her nightgown, and the two of them were left bare before each other.

“I told you to behave and sleep, but you refused. You had to anger me.”

“Lu Jinzhou, I’m really scared. Can you let me go, please?” She pleaded like a kitten.

“I can’t let you go, Ningning. From the moment you asked me to save you, you could only be mine.” He always declared his sovereignty, claiming her as his.

Zhou Wanning lowered her head to look at his face. In those beautiful eyes, there wasn’t just a burning gaze but also the determination to conquer.

Lu Jinzhou kept his word. He wouldn’t let her go because of her tears. He said mercilessly, “This is punishment, punishment for disobedient Ningning.”

Zhou Wanning was pushed against the window. Moonlight shone on both of them, and even though it was night, the weather was still stiflingly hot.

She was covered in sweat—hers and his.

Lu Jinzhou bit the back of her neck. “Don’t hold back, let it out.”

He loved hearing her soft, melodious moans.

No, she couldn’t let others hear.

The old house wasn’t just poorly soundproofed within her own home; the floors and ceilings weren’t soundproof either.

Before falling unconscious, Zhou Wanning was still thinking that her sanctuary was no longer pure.

Zhou Wanning opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling.

She turned her head—this was not her room.

She pushed back the covers, her body aching all over. Looking down, she saw fresh red marks covering her skin, overlapping with the ones that hadn’t yet faded.

She couldn’t remember how she had ended up here.

Oh no, she still had to go to work.

Wrapped in a thin blanket, she had just stepped onto the floor when the bedroom door was pushed open.

Lu Jinzhou stood there wearing a set of black silk pajamas, holding a cup of coffee.

His unkempt hair softened his usual imposing and intimidating aura.

Seeing her comical appearance, Lu Jinzhou chuckled.

He set the coffee on the table, walked over to her, and pulled the blanket off her body.

“Don’t,” she protested, trying to grab the blanket back.

He tossed the blanket onto the bed, then lifted her into his arms like a bear hug. “I’ll help you get dressed.”

They entered the walk-in closet, where his clothes and accessories were neatly arranged.

One section of the wardrobe was filled with women’s clothing.

Zhou Wanning tried to get down, but he patted her bottom, signaling her to stay still.

She had no choice but to wrap her legs around his waist to keep from falling.

“How about this one?” It was a dress in the style of a cheongsam.

“It’s fine.” At this point, she didn’t care what she wore—she just wanted to get dressed quickly.

Lu Jinzhou set her down on the low stool in front of the vanity and picked out a set of underwear for her.

“Everything is new, washed, and prepared in your size.”

It had only been a day, yet he had already prepared all of this.

She felt no joy—only terror.

He had no intention of letting her go.

Once dressed, Lu Jinzhou took her hand and led her downstairs.

“Let’s have breakfast.”

This wasn’t Yunding Yihao.

It was one of Lu Jinzhou’s properties.

“I need to go to work. Where’s my phone?”

Lu Jinzhou pressed her into a seat. “I’ve already called your school’s administration. You’re on leave now and don’t need to go to work. Just stay here and keep me company.”

Logically, she still had a few more days of work left.

She had planned to leave Haicheng as soon as her break started—to escape somewhere, anywhere.

But with just one sentence, he had cut off her escape route.

A bad feeling settled in her heart.

She was unhappy with his actions. “How can you just decide things about my job like that?”

Lu Jinzhou lifted his eyelids to look at her. “Not only can I decide about your job, I can make sure you don’t have one at all. Would you like to try?”

His threatening words seemed to have an effect.

Losing her job versus taking a temporary break—she chose to keep quiet.

He always delivered threats as if they were the most ordinary statements.

Seeing her pouting, visibly unhappy but not daring to act out, he added, “We’ve just gotten together. I want you to spend more time with me.”

Gotten together? It was his one-sided idea of being together.

Even after breaking up with Luo Shuhang, Zhou Wanning hadn’t considered being with anyone else, let alone Lu Jinzhou—her sister’s boyfriend.

What kind of “together” was this?

In the eyes of others, she was a homewrecker, the woman who had ruined his relationship with Le Yu.

“What are you thinking about?” Lu Jinzhou asked.

Her troubled expression was obvious.

She wanted to leave, to get far away from him.

But she didn’t dare say it. Right now, she was like a bird trapped in a cage.

“Nothing.”

She stirred the breakfast in front of her, unable to taste anything.

“Um, about my phone… can I have it back?”

“You don’t need a phone here.”

Zhou Wanning glanced at him, then quickly lowered her head. She was really on the verge of resisting him outright.

“Eat more. You’ll need the energy.”

What does he need physical strength for? What else does he want to do!

Zhou Wanning tightened her grip on the spoon in her hand, making it even harder to eat.
