Song Qingtang looked up at Su Yiyun.
Seeing Su Yiyun here came as no surprise at all.
Song Qingtang even felt a sense of calm inevitability in her heart.
“What do you want?”
Song Qingtang asked.
Su Yiyun curled her lips into a smile, crouched down, and met Song Qingtang’s eyes at eye level.
Then she reached out and touched Song Qingtang’s face.
Song Qingtang furrowed her brows, raised her hand, and knocked Su Yiyun’s hand away.
Su Yiyun wasn’t annoyed. Her tone carried both admiration and regret: “I don’t plan to do anything.”
She paused. “Your face really is beautiful.”
Su Yiyun continued, “I just came to remind you to change your clothes. You’ll be going on stage soon to perform—dance your best routine.”
As she spoke, Su Yiyun kept her eyes on Song Qingtang, the corners of her eyes curving into an arc.
“I’m really looking forward to your performance.”
After saying this with a bright smile, Su Yiyun moved to pat Song Qingtang’s face again.
But just as her hand brushed past Song Qingtang’s lips, she didn’t expect Song Qingtang to suddenly open her mouth.
And bite down on her wrist.
Song Qingtang bit down with considerable force. Caught off guard, Su Yiyun let out a cry of pain.
She yanked her hand back from Song Qingtang.
Stumbling as she stood up, her whole body unsteady, she even staggered back a few steps.
She stared in disbelief at the teeth marks on her wrist.
Su Yiyun had never suffered such humiliation. Tears instantly welled up: “Song Qingtang, have you lost your mind?!”
Song Qingtang curled her lips in disgust and said irritably, “So dirty.”
Even her mouth wasn’t clean now.
Harming the enemy a thousand at the cost of eight hundred to oneself.
She shouldn’t have bitten.
Ptoo, ptoo, ptoo.
“You—”
Su Yiyun was choked with anger, her entire face turning red.
She never expected Song Qingtang to actually bite her.
She was practically a rabid dog.
It was infuriating her to death.
Chen Wenxiu noticed something was wrong, stubbed out his cigarette, and walked over to Su Yiyun’s side.
He furrowed his brows slightly, lowered his head, and reached out to lift Su Yiyun’s arm.
The teeth marks on it were very clear—one more ounce of force and the skin would have broken and bled.
Su Yiyun said nothing, her eyes full of tears as she looked at Chen Wenxiu with a pitiful expression.
Su Yiyun’s appearance pleased Chen Wenxiu greatly.
Chen Wenxiu’s brows relaxed, the curve of his lips gentle. He reached out and very lightly touched the teeth marks on Su Yiyun’s arm, his movements tender.
As if comforting her.
Only then did he raise his head and look at Song Qingtang, who was crouched in the corner.
His gaze turned ice-cold. Having long occupied a position of power, the oppressive aura of one who stands above others almost instantly flooded this cramped corner.
Making it feel hard to breathe.
Chen Wenxiu’s presence was extremely dangerous. He wasn’t like Jin Zhuochuan—he was like a venomous snake in a dark forest.
Sending chills down one’s spine.
Song Qingtang instinctively shrank further into the corner.
Chen Wenxiu approached, looking at Song Qingtang with an extremely cold gaze. Then he crouched down, raised his hand, and pinched her chin between his thumb and index finger.
Chen Wenxiu’s grip was incredibly strong. Song Qingtang felt like her bones were about to be crushed. She reached up to pry his hand away, but it was like a mayfly trying to shake a tree.
“Song Qingtang.” Chen Wenxiu looked at her, speaking from above. “Do you have any idea what your Song family amounts to?”
“I give you a little face and you actually start thinking you’re someone, is that it?”
Chen Wenxiu’s eyes were cold and sinister.
His tone carried no emotion whatsoever. Every word he spoke sounded like an interrogation.
Song Qingtang frowned, struggling to pry his hand off.
At this moment, she genuinely thought Chen Wenxiu had some serious issues.
To this day, she had only seen Chen Wenxiu twice, and both times were at large formal balls.
Other than that, she could safely say they were strangers.
And as far as she knew, the Song and Chen families had no connection whatsoever—no business dealings, let alone any feud.
Song Qingtang didn’t understand why he was doing this.
Just because of Su Yiyun?
Song Qingtang couldn’t figure it out, and she couldn’t be bothered to think about it.
Because her jaw really hurt from his grip.
“Let go…” she said with difficulty.
Chen Wenxiu looked at her, saying nothing, only narrowing his eyes.
“You really think marrying Jin Zhuochuan means you have a backer, don’t you?”
“What is he anyway.”
Chen Wenxiu’s tone was cold, laced with utter contempt.
Song Qingtang couldn’t make sense of any of it.
She just wanted him to take his hand off quickly.
Song Qingtang’s struggling looked strained, and Chen Wenxiu suddenly laughed.
The curve at the corner of his mouth was chilling.
“Say, if his wife were to dance that kind of dance in front of so many people…”
But before he could finish his sentence, the door beside them was violently kicked.
The noisy sounds from the corridor filtered through the door, muffled and indistinct.
Outside seemed chaotic—even the footsteps were disorderly.
Yet amid the clamor, one word could still be heard: “Scram.”
The group of scantily clad girls inside flinched at the commotion, afraid of being caught in the crossfire, and huddled into the corners.
The door was kicked again and again, the entire door panel beginning to wobble precariously.
The person outside kicked one after another, until finally, it burst open.
Chen Wenxiu frowned and stood up.
With the grip on her chin released, Song Qingtang shrank to the side before looking over.
She saw Jin Zhuochuan walking in from the corridor.
He was very tall, and the light from outside cast his shadow into the room.
A small patch of fine, mottled darkness.
The pressure radiating from him was low, the curve of his eyes sharp and cold, his gaze indifferent. It seemed as if he carried the night outside with him, his eyes rendered pitch-black.
As if stained by the wind outside, the entire room seemed to plunge into a biting chill.
Chen Wenxiu hadn’t expected the person entering to be Jin Zhuochuan.
He froze for a second.
It wasn’t until Jin Zhuochuan grabbed him by the collar and slammed him hard against the wall that Chen Wenxiu snapped back to reality.
Bracing one hand against the wall, he looked at Jin Zhuochuan and threw a sudden punch.
But he was still at a disadvantage, retreating step by step.
When it came to fighting, he was far from Jin Zhuochuan’s level.
The room became a mess—tables and chairs overturned, clothes swept to the floor and stained with dust.
Occasionally, the sound of fists striking flesh, the dull thud of bones hitting the wall, and suppressed grunts of pain could be heard.
No one dared to step in and break it up. They were all afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.
Even Su Yiyun took two steps back.
No one knew how long it lasted, but in the end, Chen Wenxiu was pinned down hard on the table by Jin Zhuochuan.
His entire face was pressed against the surface, distorted by the pressure.
His face flushed bright red.
Chen Wenxiu’s hands gripped the edge of the table, veins bulging on his arms.
“Jin Zhuochuan, you mother—”
Before he could finish, Jin Zhuochuan’s hand on his neck suddenly tightened.
Chen Wenxiu couldn’t utter a single word in an instant.
Jin Zhuochuan looked down at him, his grip not loosening in the slightest.
His expression was calm but laced with menace, his tone carrying a hint of ruthlessness: “Chen Wenxiu, do you think you have nine lives?”
“Last time you had someone mess with my car, and now you dare to touch my wife—”
Jin Zhuochuan paused as he spoke, then tightened his grip again, the veins on his wrist clearly visible.
The muscles of his forearm were smooth and defined, and the fabric on his sleeve was torn open.
It looked chaotic, yet carried a wild, primal allure.
“Do you really not want to live anymore?”
