This was, of course, still Luo Xizhi. She wanted to demand an explanation, to ask why Hua Lian hadn’t carried out the plan all day. But Hua Lian seemed to be venting all the grievances she had accumulated throughout the day, chattering endlessly about her various woes from morning till night.
She didn’t like Yang Yiyi she had no sense of boundaries.
She didn’t like the flower and bird market either all those animals were so pitiful.
“And I don’t like Luo Xizhi either. Even the big bad wolf is afraid of her. She must be the most ferocious one of all.”
However, as Luo Xizhi listened with great interest to the gossip, she realized that she herself was one of the subjects being gossiped about. As the millennia-old, universally adored figure of this world, Luo Xizhi hadn’t encountered anyone who disliked her in a very long time. It should be said that Luo Xizhi possessed a peculiar constitution she attracted those who were depraved, so those who liked her were almost invariably perverts.
“Then who do you like?”
Luo Xizhi couldn’t help but ask, only to see Hua Lian staring straight at her. Those eyes were still clear, yet they filled Luo Xizhi with unease and dread.
“I like you, Xiao Hei, and I also like that mother wolf and her cub.”
Hua Lian expressed her fondness for all non-human creatures, but she was exceptionally harsh when it came to humans.
“Is there no human you like?”
“Why should I like humans?”
Hua Lian retorted, as if she herself were not human. Luo Xizhi even began to suspect that this transmigrator before her might have been some kind of demon or monster in her past life, given her intense hostility toward humans. Of course, Luo Xizhi didn’t truly care about whom Hua Lian actually liked; she was worried that if Hua Lian lacked the capacity to love, then she might be unable to make Hua Lian meet her downfall.
After all, once the original host’s body fully fused with Hua Lian’s soul, the other party might completely take over this vessel. That would mean this transmigrator would exist eternally in this world. The thought of having to see her each time without being able to deal with her was deeply unsettling to Luo Xizhi.
“Let’s not talk about this for now. Why didn’t you take action today?” Realizing that the normal approach wouldn’t work, Luo Xizhi could only ask about Hua Lian’s activities that day.
“I couldn’t find the way.”
“Perfect. I made a map.” Knowing Hua Lian would say exactly that, Luo Xizhi silently produced the hand-drawn map she had spent half an hour creating. But feeling it bore too much of her personal touch, she edited the text digitally before printing out the map.
“Xiao Hei, you’re really amazing.”
Hua Lian seized the opportunity to act coquettish again. Luo Xizhi no longer had the energy to avoid it; just two days had left her feeling an unprecedented level of exhaustion. She wasn’t afraid of bad people at all, but when it came to someone like this a good person Luo Xizhi was utterly defenseless. Moreover, perhaps because Hua Lian’s gaze was too pure, Luo Xizhi found that she didn’t actually dislike this physical contact.
But regardless, Hua Lian had to become corrupted. She was an unstable element that shouldn’t exist in this world and needed to be eliminated.
“You don’t want me to disappear, do you?”
“Of course not! You’re my most, most, most favorite Xiao Hei.”
Noticing the sudden change in Luo Xizhi’s tone, Hua Lian looked at her with great seriousness. It was only then that Luo Xizhi realized Hua Lian had never made eye contact with her while she was in her human form. No, it should be said that Hua Lian avoided everyone’s gaze, making it impossible for others to detect that her soul had been replaced.
“Then go do something bad to the female lead right away. After all, you dislike her.” Luo Xizhi added fuel to the fire, almost as if out of spite. After saying this, she felt she had been influenced by Hua Lian she was actually starting to care about others’ opinions.
“I don’t dislike Luo Xizhi, I just don’t like her… Besides, don’t you think taking someone’s book is too much? Can’t you choose something else?” Hua Lian explained. Luo Xizhi wordlessly pushed her away, using her actions to convey her response.
“Remember, you must take her Chinese textbook, or I won’t have the strength to appear.” Luo Xizhi emphasized the point again, unable to understand why such a thing was considered excessive. Or perhaps this transmigrator came from such a perfect family that she developed such foolish ideas?
Luo Xizhi felt a bit angry, though she wasn’t sure exactly why. She stormed off in a huff, only realizing after she had gone some distance that she had let her emotions get the better of her again.
Meanwhile, the culprit, Hua Lian, seemed completely unaware. She sat there studying the map for a while before leisurely getting up and leaving.
Perhaps thanks to the map, Hua Lian quickly found her way back to her residence this time. Luo Xizhi felt somewhat relieved and decided to head back as well. On the way, she ran into Hua Zheng, who was carrying several large and small bags. Inside seemed to be some kind of equipment, with dark red stains seeping through. For some reason, Luo Xizhi felt certain it was animal blood.
“Oh, Sister Luo, just back from seeing my sister? Want to come check out something fun?”
Hua Zheng smiled brightly, swinging the bags as an indescribable odor wafted through the air.
“I’m tired and need to go rest.”
“Is that so? What a pity. I wonder when Sister Luo will look after me a little too. I’m so jealous of my sister.” Hua Zheng put on a pitiful expression, but his eyes held a sinister glint, far too malicious for a teenager. In comparison, the transmigrator seemed infinitely more normal than Hua Zheng.
Her anger subsided a little with this contrast, and Luo Xizhi realized she might have been paying too much attention to Hua Lian. After all, besides Hua Lian, there were dozens of other transmigrators waiting for her to deal with, and she shouldn’t waste time on pointless social interactions.
“Then keep being jealous. I’m going back to rest.” Luo Xizhi replied, refusing to engage further with Hua Zheng’s words. Hua Zheng had likely been rejected countless times, but each refusal only made him more interested in Luo Xizhi.
“Fine, it’s not like I can skin my sister and take her place.”
Hua Zheng fantasized for a moment about becoming his sister but quickly gave up, humming a tune as he continued on his way. However, when he reached Hua Lian’s door and naturally tried to use his fingerprint to enter, he was met with a sharp, unpleasant alert.
‘You do not have permission to enter.’
Hua Zheng’s expression froze, unable to believe that Hua Lian had actually revoked his access. Disbelieving, he tried again, only to hear the door’s alarm repeat.
“Sister! It’s me… open the door…”
Left with no other choice, Hua Zhengtai had to shout at the top of his lungs, but perhaps the soundproofing was too good or Hua Lian was occupied with something else she simply didn’t hear him. This time, however, Hua Zhengtai hadn’t brought his phone and couldn’t contact Hua Lian through any other means. Thinking of this, he angrily pulled a dead mouse out of his bag and tossed it on the ground, intending to scare Hua Lian. After doing all this and making sure that Hua Lian would see the dead mouse the moment she appeared, Hua Zhengtai finally left, satisfied.
Shortly after, Luo Xizhi, who should have already returned, appeared. She glanced at the dead mouse on the ground. Its unnecessary organs had been cleared out, as if it had been made into a specimen, so there wasn’t too strong of a foul smell.
But Luo Xizhi didn’t pay much attention to such trivial matters. Instead, she suddenly felt an ominous premonition and walked over.
“You do not have permission to enter the premises.”
Sure enough, as Luo Xizhi pressed her finger against the smart lock, even the fingerprint lock that the original owner had personally set for her had been deleted, indicating that Hua Lian truly disliked her even going so far as to reject all humans from entering her territory.
For a moment, Luo Xizhi, who had just found Hua Zhengtai’s pitiful state amusing, couldn’t bring herself to laugh at all.
