Yin Ju listened to him, his face devoid of expression.

The torrential rain poured down, filling the thermos in his hand.

He tilted his head back, took a gulp of the cold rainwater, and swallowed it down.

Yin Ju exhaled.

He extended his free hand, palm up, and fixed him with an arrogant, piercing gaze.

“You want to know how long I can last?

Why don’t you test me and find out?”

Lin Xin’an clapped his hands, and the Thousand-handed Monster moved in front of him.

“Show Lord Yin what you can do.

Don’t kill him.

Just break his legs and make him kneel.

Make it so he can’t get back up,” the tall man in the black robe said with a smile.

Jiang Jianxin’s eyes widened.

‘How did things turn out this way?’ she wondered.

Just moments ago, she had been fighting Yin Ju, and his every move had been a killing blow, clearly intended to end her life.

Now that they were both in peril, why was he suddenly protecting her?

The Red King advanced to fight Yin Ju, while Lin Xin’an ambled over to the paralyzed Jiang Jianxin and sat down nonchalantly beside her.

She glared at him, displeased.

“Are you curious about Yin Ju’s change in attitude?” Lin Xin’an whispered, leaning close to her ear.

Jiang Jianxin didn’t speak, but Lin Xin’an could read her thoughts.

“Yin Ju hates people from the Madhouse because it killed his parents.

But he doesn’t hate other humans.

On the contrary, he has a strong desire to help people.

“He thought you were a member of the Madhouse before, which is why he attacked so fiercely.

After hearing our conversation and realizing you weren’t, he felt he had to make up for his mistake.”

“The reason he’s called Lord Yin is not just because of his extraordinary strength, but because in this world of lies and deceit, he is the only good man who stands tall with justice in his heart,” Lin Xin’an explained slowly.

Jiang Jianxin shot him a look, thinking for the first time that he must be insane.

“If you hold him in such high regard, why would you humiliate him like this?”

Lin Xin’an smiled and spread his hands.

“Yin Ju is a good man, but what can you do?

I’m a very bad man.”

“And seeing a good man forced to his knees… well, that excites a bad man.”

Hearing this twisted confession, Jiang Jianxin just rolled her eyes and ignored him.

She turned her gaze back to the great battle between the Red King and Yin Ju.

In the downpour, the young man in the black jacket, thermos in hand, looked pale and ready to collapse.

But this same young man, who looked like he could fall over at any second, had already been fighting the Red King for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.

PFFT… RIIIP—

The Red King launched its red tentacles to stab at Yin Ju, only to be blocked again by a sweeping Water Blade.

The immense power of the storm pouring from the heavens flowed into Yin Ju’s body, a seemingly endless source of strength.

But he felt as if his body had a gaping hole in it, unable to retain any of this power.

“Blegh…”

Another mouthful of blood surged up.

Yin Ju fought through the pain in his lungs, took another gulp of rainwater, and forced it down.

The cold water slid down his throat to his stomach, a soggy weight that felt as if it were dragging his entire being down with it.

It was just as Lin Xin’an had said.

To deal with a powerful opponent like Jiang Jianxin earlier, he had used his strongest killing move, the “Water Domain,” right from the start.

The formation and operation of the Water Domain drained a massive amount of his power.

Once it was broken, the backlash turned on him.

He was already at the end of his rope.

But now, with Jiang Jianxin out of the fight and Lin Xin’an clearly hostile, his only choice was to fight to the death to protect them both.

Yin Ju wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

With a wave of his hand, another sheet of Water Blades slashed toward the Red King.

VMMM…

An invisible red mist materialized in the air, swallowing the Water Blades whole.

The Red King let out a deafening, coarse roar as the red mist converged into a greatsword and chopped down at Yin Ju.

The water on the ground quickly enveloped Yin Ju, helping him dodge to the side.

However, the blade of red mist dissipated upon hitting the ground.

As Yin Ju breathed in the mist, his limbs went numb, and his lungs expelled another large amount of blood.

VMMM—

Another red mist blade struck.

Yin Ju raised a hand, gathering a Water Shield to block it.

BANG— PFFT—

The Water Shield didn’t hold so easily this time.

The red mist pierced right through it, the aftershock slamming heavily into Yin Ju’s abdomen.

He spat out a huge mouthful of fresh blood, and it continued to stream from his mouth.

A vast sense of emptiness washed over him.

Yin Ju’s vision went dark, and his entire body screamed in agony.

It was at this moment that the Red King swung again, this time aiming for Yin Ju’s legs.

PFFT—

One of the young man’s legs was struck, forcing him down to a knee.

His other leg still held him up.

The Red King swung a second cloud of red mist.

Just as it was about to hit Yin Ju, a black curtain appeared in front of him.

WOOOOOO—

“That’s enough, Doctor Lin.”

Shen Ye’s figure appeared from within the Dark Night.

His body was covered in bloody gashes, and traces of blood stained the corners of his mouth.

Lin Xin’an wasn’t surprised by his arrival.

He sneered, “As expected, a single Double Clone of the Red King wasn’t enough to stop you, Shen Ye.”

Shen Ye’s eyes couldn’t see.

He could only locate things by sound.

He faced Lin Xin’an’s direction and said in a low, hoarse voice, “Let them both go.”

Lin Xin’an raised an eyebrow.

“What’s this?

You came to be the hero?”

Shen Ye coughed; fighting the Red King’s Double Clone had left him severely injured.

“I can’t beat your Red King, but you can’t use your Spiritual Control on me, either.

So—I have other methods.”

He pulled a metallic flare gun from his pocket, raised his hand, and aimed it steadily at the sky.

“This is a flare gun from the Madhouse.

If I fire it, I’ll attract ‘Your Majesty’s’ attention.

What do you think is faster?

‘Your Majesty’s’ eyes sweeping over here, or you getting away with these two.”

Lin Xin’an was also from the Madhouse.

He knew at a glance that Shen Ye wasn’t lying.

The spiritual network of that “Your Majesty” from the Madhouse was terrifying.

Once the signal was received, their spiritual power would sweep over in an instant.

His brow tightened, but he found it somewhat amusing.

“If you fire that shot, ‘Your Majesty’ will notice you too… Shen Ye, you just escaped the Madhouse.

Are you really that eager to be dragged back?”

Shen Ye’s eyes were a blank void, his face unmoved.

He said firmly, “Jiang Jianxin saved me from the Madhouse ten years ago.

Ten years later, she’ll get me out again.”

Lin Xin’an scoffed, and the air grew cold and heavy.

“You still refuse to back down?” Shen Ye slowly asked into the silence.

“I spent days meticulously planning for today.

I can kill two birds with one stone.

Why should I leave empty-handed?” Lin Xin’an said leisurely.

“Besides, I’m betting you don’t have the guts to pull the trigger.”

The words had barely left his lips, before Lin Xin’an could even form a smile, when he saw Shen Ye decisively fire a shot into the sky.

BANG—

The flare gun bloomed into a silent firework in the air, the signal it carried streaking at incredible speed toward the guardian of the Second Mental Hospital.

Shen Ye tossed the spent flare gun aside and said calmly, “Then you guessed wrong.”

Lin Xin’an was speechless.

He gave Shen Ye a deep look, then decisively raised his hand.

“Red King, we’re leaving!”

A red mist instantly filled the area, and the figures of Lin Xin’an and the Red King vanished within it.
