Instead of smiling, Zukishi dried his tears and pretended to be surprised.
“There is a way, but a price that must be paid,” Zukishi narrowed his eyebrows at the Namekians, “I don’t believe a spiritual race such as you would lie about something like that.”
“Yes, indeed,” the Namekian said, “Now, answer me, how far are you willing to go to stop that Frieza?”
Zukishi smiled and said without hesitation, “Even if I have to live only one day, as long as one hour of it would be after stopping Frieza and his family from terrorizing the universe and their families, I, Zukishi, would spend that hour as the happiest being in the universe.”
Monaito sighed deeply and asked, “How can you be certain?
What drives you?
Is it revenge for your parents?
Is it the inability to accept that you are weak?”
“I already said it, haven’t I?” Zukishi smiled in defeat, “but I do know that there is no way, and you are just trying to make me feel better.”
Monaito shook his head, “I have hidden this from you.
But there is a way.
We have something called the Dragon Balls.
They can grant any wish.
Initially, it was made as a part of a warrior’s ritual, and it cannot be used for selfish wishes.
Only those who prove themselves to be the bravest can use it.
“However, wishes, like strength and shortcuts, are not for a warrior.
And if you wish for them, you’ll pay the price with your life.
“Unfortunately for you, a species like yours can only live for 100 to 110 years.
You are short-lived, and any price the dragon may demand will be inflicted on you.”
Zukishi smiled at Monaito, “A life, long or short, is not worth living compared to a life that has been sacrificed to save countless lives.”
Monaito believed those words without sensing any lies in them.
Zukishi, on the other hand, didn’t lie.
He stated what he believed in.
As long as the person who sacrifices his life isn’t him.
There was a reason why people loved heroes, but everyone agreed that they were foolish.
“Very well.” Monaito said as he turned into a Namekian, “He has proved that he’s a strong and pure-hearted warrior.
If anyone has an objection to him using the Dragon Balls, please, step forward.
No one did.
Monaito reached into his robes, and under his belt, he grabbed two small orange balls that could be held in one hand.
One had one star, and the other had two stars.
Zukishi, doubtfully, asked, “Does this work?”
“Don’t worry.
After I speak the password, a dragon will come and fulfill your wish.” He said, as he put the balls on the ground.
“Everyone, take a step back.”
Zukishi stood up and lifted Sala, who was sleeping on his shoulder.
She wrapped her tail around his neck and put her head on his chest, sleeping deeper.
“Takkaraputo Tottoronbo Pupiritto Paro,” said Monaito.
Zukishi, who had learned Namekian, memorized the password.
Basically, it was, ‘Come dragon and fulfill my wish.’
The balls shone, and the sky turned from red to dark.
The light emitting from the balls turned into a pillar, from which a dragon appeared.
Blue, pale, with its body being white.
Zukishi smiled widely.
“Do speak your wish now,” said Monaito, “I’ll translate it to him in Namekian.”
The dragon didn’t require anyone speaking in Namekian and could fulfill any wish spoken in the common language.
But it seemed that the Namekian wanted to test Zukishi for one last time.
To see if he had another wish in mind.
Zukishi, without hesitation, spoke in Namekian.
“Dragon, I wish to acquire all of the magical abilities of a great Dragon Clan member from Namekian, along with the knowledge to use it.
Can you fulfill that wish, dragon?”
The Namekians around suddenly froze.
It came to them as a shock that someone spoke their language.
And the Saiyans, who said he had a great goal of saving the universe and won their hearts by saving them from extinction, made a wish way different from the one he told them he would.
“Zukishi… You…”
“Come on, Monaito.
Do you want me to sacrifice my life?
Why not simply wish for your powers and heal myself after being injured?
My power will climb up this way without having to sacrifice unnecessary years.
I know I said I’d do anything, but I won’t consider the most stupid option when there is a better option.”
Monaito froze.
The Saiyan indeed made sense.
However, he felt very different from the person who wanted to avenge his parents.
But that didn’t change the fact that this man knew their language all along.
And if he knew their language, he must have already known about the dragon.
Monaito didn’t have time to pause the wishing ritual, nor did the other Namekians as they spent time thinking.
The dragon’s eyes shone.
It spoke in Namekian and replied, “An easy wish.
I can grant you magic power without sacrifice.
But to learn how to use it, you’ll need to pay the years of training you are skipping.
It will cost you 20 years of your life.”
“So be it!” Zukishi yelled; “Do it.”
So what if he lost 20 years.
Maybe these guys gave the dragon rules so no one would get very overpowered, unless he had a very long lifespan.
‘At worst, I’d ask the Namekian dragon to restore those years back.
If it can’t undo the curse of another dragon, I’ll ask it to freeze my age.
After all, we Saiyans stay in our youth until we’re 80 years old.’
Zukishi smiled as he felt a rush of information invading his mind.
A new type of energy formed a system in his body, dependent on Ki.
Many magic tricks he learned in an instant.
Even one that would let him make Dragon Balls.
Though, he may need to pay with many years of his life, at least he knew that he would have to pay.
He learned about healing magic.
Latent Potential magic. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
Materialization magic.
Creation magic… which requires him to sacrifice his life.
But screw it.
The magics related to the Dragon Balls were enough.
More types of magic.
And there was one type of magic that he wanted the most, that he skipped other wishes that would make him stronger, such as potential unlocks, if he could do it himself.
The Dragon Balls rose in the sky and dispersed across the planet.
Monaito narrowed his eyebrows at Zukishi, “If you simply wanted to abuse your physical traits, you could have asked for me or anyone to help you.
You wouldn’t be able to heal yourself anyways if you did that.”
“Tsk… sacrificing 20 years for a short-lived species?
Aren’t you afraid of dying early?”
“Don’t tell me you were just acting earlier.”
“I’ve always thought the Saiyans were an honorable warrior species and wouldn’t use tricks.”
Zukishi simply smiled, releasing his Ki over everyone.
It seemed that they misunderstood something.
“Come on, guys.
You think my wish is stupid.
Well, it would have been if your dragon was the only one in the universe.
But, you guys seem to not know about the forgotten abilities your dragon clan race has.” Zukishi raised his hand in the sky as he closed his eyes.
Although the Dragon Balls dispersed across the planet, he could sense them, and with a magical command, he ordered them to come back.
In a matter of no time, the Dragon Balls flew from the sky and landed in front of Zukishi.
Why else would he wish for such power.
Forget about potentially creating Dragon Balls; he could summon the balls without having to look for them in every corner of the planet, under the water, under the sands, and under the volcanoes.
And if they turned into a stone, he could pay with some of his life energy or gather cosmic energy to revive them.
Though the latter wasn’t a good option, there were many Dragon Balls across the universe, and so, he would use the Namekian magical powers to get as many wishes as possible.
He clapped his hands, licking his tongue.
“You can either spend money buying what you want, or invest it for bigger returns.
Same logic applies to wishes.”
The Namekians froze, shocked.
This warrior, seemed to not only know about their language, but even things they didn’t know.
“Now, babe.” Zukishi raised his head, reciting the password.
“Stop!
You have already stated your wish!
It’s against the rule!” Monaito yelled in despair.
It seemed that sapiens, after all, were greedy.
That is why he never wanted to reveal the existence of the Dragon Balls.
Greed was one great emotion that they, the Namekians, weren’t cursed with.
But others were.
Zukishi smiled, making an ugly sneering face.
“Don’t worry.
You won’t regret it.
I mean it.” Zukishi replied as the balls shone, the dragon rising again.
